Quiet, relaxing getaway where privacy is paramount”
We spent three nights at Villa Kayu Lama. Having been to Bali previously we weren't looking for shopping and adventure... just a couple of quiet 'chill out' days. Despite arriving at midnight we were met by a courteous driver who drove us to the villa. I recommend getting the airport transfer via the villa, because it is pretty out of the way and being relatively new, most taxi drivers wouldn't know it. There are only 4 or 5 villas so it is not enough to support a substantial restaurant. That said, the menu was entirely adequate and the food was quite tasty. Like always in Bali, the prices are very cheap. We were placed in a double villa. There was a common area and pool with two identical private rooms adjoining. We would have loved to have another couple with us to enjoy the serenity. We both had massages each day. Lovely, relaxing and only about A$20 each! Whenever staff need to provide service or attend to you, they ALWAYS ring first to make sure that it is convenient. Sometimes seems a bit over the top but then it depends on what you are doing at the time :-) If you have never been to Ubud before, it is nice to stay close in so that you can walk to restaurants and bars. However, if you are staying any further than walking distance (and are a couple) you really should consider Villa Kayu Lama!

I went for a weekend getaway with my husband and baby boy, and i didn't regret my decision to stay at villa kayu lama. Everything on it is beyond satisfaction. The room is lovely, all basic amenity is there, and with the private pool and gazebo looking to the paddy rice is just perfect. We don't have any specific plan to do and the staffs were so helpful in giving tips and advice of where to go and see during our very short visit to bali. Since the place is in the small village out of ubud crowd (really it's so quite like you're in the middle of nowhere all you see is paddy rice) there is no choice of cafe or restaurant nearby, but we can always order from the villa's restaurant which is not bad too. The downside is it can be a little hard to get around because of the location, there is free shuttle to ubud center at designated time and you can also rent a car with driver. Overal it was a very nice experience.

Exceeds expectations!”
This hotel is by far the most accommodating we have checked into. The staff is the most commendable part of this review. Everyone was kind and on time with their service. It was my girlfriend's birthday during our stay and they even gave us a surprise birthday cake, complimentary. We stayed here for 3 days, and everything despite the distance from the Ubud centre, went well. The outdoor setup made us relaxed, and even such big open space did not downsize the amount of privacy you can get at this place. The only negative part are the mosquitos at night but I guess that is a given since the setting is by the rice paddies. Overall experience at Villa Kayu Lama exceeds my expectations. Exceeds the pictures, not to mention a set of food menu that really really tasted good, you will not be dissapointed. Only downside was that our airconditioning unit seemed malfunctioning during our last day, was not able to report it anymore because we left for the airport very early in the morning, but that issue is fixable and wad a small damage to our stay compared to the ease the hotel has provided us. Awesome stay, would recommend..”
We loved our stay at Villa Kayu Lama. It is out of main Ubud, however this is not an issue as transport is always available. We booked the 2 bedroom villa with private pool which was perfect for our family. The bedrooms and bathrooms were lovely, clean and very comfortable with great aircon and comfy beds. The breakfast was tasty and always on time, with a phone call before to check if we were ready. Sujana our driver was fabulous and was very happy to accommodate our wishes and to answer our questions and provide advise with terrific local knowledge which was greatly appreciated. Sujana even taught us some Balinese! Suksama to everyone at Villa Kayu Lama for an awesome and relaxing stay. We will recommend to our family and friends for sure.

Great value for money villa and ”
My friend and I decided to have a getaway at Ubud area to enjoy the beautiful, peaceful and quiet surrounding (with reasonable accommodation cost) and Villa Kayu Lama did not disappoint us. On top of having spacious one-bedroom villa, the villa is equipped with huge bathroom, rainwater shower, huge bath tub and so-called walk-in closet. The bed is a four-poster bed adorned with pretty mosquito net. Breakfast is made to order based on selection of meals, and served at the kitchennete next to the private pool. They provide shuttle for guests to go to the town (out at 12pm and pick up at 4pm). They also provide moderate condition bicycles for you to enjoy the paddy-field surrounding. We also had massage session at the villa where they sent two masseuses over for the session. On the day we checked out, we need a transport to Seminyak, which they have efficiently arranged for us upon request. The fee is also quite reasonable (Rp. 450,000 including a stop at Tanah Lot) Over all, I would say, our stay was memorable and we look forward to stay again if the price remain reasonable.

A private villa with private pool”
I and my wife stayed for 4 nights in Villa Kayu Lama. The location is not in the middle of busy street in Ubud - it took about 20 minutes by car to go to Ubud center from Villa Kayu Lama. This hotel provides free shuttle to Ubud several times in a day. We love the room, it's spacious and clean, it's a simple yet modern room with a touch of nature. There's a private pool in our villa, as well as the sun lounge which is lovely! But we could not find cups and glasses in our villa, we had to ask for glasses from the reception. TV channel options was limited but it was OK since the internet connection was so fast. Breakfast was below expectation. We need to choose breakfast menu a night before. We tried different type of meals for breakfast but none was satisfying. Villa Kayu Lama needs to improve a lot in breakfast selection and quality.

A gem in a secluded area”
Stayed here for 2 nights from 17 February to 19 February. Arrived late at night but there was little hiccup in locating the villa as the local driver managed to contact the reception. Breakfast was great! You can choose from a menu and have it sent to your room. The staff here are all really friendly and always ready at your service. The rooms are really spacious, with a private pool facing the fields and the sun rise every morning! It is the closest thing to nature staying at Villa Kayu Lama. Even though location is not ideal, you can rent a scooter from the villa to explore the area, or hop on their shuttle service to Ubud centre. Overall, totally enjoyed the stay here. A gem in the middle of a secluded area.

Amazing service and facilities”
We stayed for two nights at the Villa Kayu Lama. The staff were fantastic, the room was amazing with a wonderful pool just outside the door. Very private making the stay very romantic. The hotel is located some 20 minutes from Ubud, but the Hotel staff are only too happy to drive you into town or arrange for drivers (this is very cheap) 60k Nestled amongst the rice fields, a great locations for that romantic holiday or honeymoon.

Great place for relaxation and tranquility”
One of the most natural looking balinese villa with a modern touch. Staffs were helpful and efficient. Pool was wonderful and you get an open view to the fields yet keeping the sense of privacy, which is amazing. Being only a few months old, there are still room for improvements, nothing serious to fault e.g lack of self making tea/coffee bar(but is requestable upon room service), but this place has the potential to be rated 4 stars. Gusti, the manager and his staffs were accomodating and genuine, and the owner was always around make sure everything goes smoothly. The room was cozy and super king bed was comfy, bathroom was naturally aired with beautifully crafted wooden walls and artifects. Stayed at a few villas before and villa kayu lama can be put to the top few in the list.

More than Expected”
We've had an excellent stay at Villa Kayu Lama and the Villa was beyond our expectation. The Villa with the Private Pool are very neat and spacious. The view on the rice field is nice as well. Ubud is 20 min. drive with a car. The area is known for arts like woordcarving and painting. The management of Villa Kayu Lama can and will cater for every need of the customer, in my opinion a customer can't be disappointed when the (close) distance to Ubud is taken into account.

relaxed and very comfortable stay”
Only 2 things not so good which is the location of villa is not easy to be found and many uninvitted guests- insects. However, myself and my wife had very comfortable and relax moment than 4/5 star hotel in kuta. Perhaps is the nature surronding and quality bed and others facilities. Unexpected thing is their food is supperb! Tried many food in bali and villa kayu lama is 1 of greatest. Their staff are friendly and helpful.

Beautiful villas in a Balinese village”
If you want to experience real Balinese village life while enjoying a beautiful and comfortable pool villa, then this is the one for you. Villa Kayu Lama is located far away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud centre and there is no shops or restaurants within walking distance. However, its isolation is a plus point for those who want a relaxed and quiet time. We had a fabulous time exploring the village and the nearby rice fields. The villa itself was large and clean, and we loved the open air bathtub. The dinner menu is limited and the food is only average, but it's a small minus point which doesn't affect our overall experience. Our only regret was not staying longer!

Luxurious hotel with very friendly & helpful staff, genuine and attentive. The view is beautiful from the villa and many of rice terrace around the property. From the moment I arrived the airport and checked in, until the time I handed in my room key and headed to leave Ubud, I was completely impressed with Villa Kayu Lama.

I really love my stay in Villa Kayu Lama. eventhough its quite far (40 min from airport) but Villa Kayu Lama is a place that I definiatly will come again! the room is so clean and huge. i love the big bathtub and huge swimming pool. really suitable for honeymoon and to relax. you can also sunbathing in front of your private pool! :)

Amazing Quite Retreat”
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at Villa Kayu Lama. The villas are a bit off the beaten path and definitely not somewhere people who are looking for a wild and crazy time to stay at. The villas are surrounded by beautiful rice fields and lush vegetation. They are extremely private and tranquil. I highly recommend asking for Wayan as your driver. He's amazing and will definitely show you a great time. If you are looking for the most relaxing time every stay here!

Our stay at Villa Kayu Lama was an absolute delight. The people working there were friendly and cordial and the views and surroundings of the villa were lovely. Some of the food served was a little strange (what looked like chocolate milk instead of chocolate sauce on the pancakes), but this did not ruin our overall experience. Highly recommended for couples looking for some peace and quiet in a beautiful landscape.

The Villa Kayu Lama was great for us travelling as a couple. Amazing private villas with all the extras at a great price. Enjoyed a very relaxing massage in the villa. A little far from Ubud centre, but free shuttles provided. Unfortunately the latest pick up is 6.30pm. The food is substandard for a 4 star hotel, I would suggest eating in Ubud centre. Otherwise we would happily rate our stay 9 out of 10!

Absolutely fantastic stay. Kayu Lama was everything we wanted and more. It is located in a perfect spot 20 min from town in a quiet area surrounded by rice fields and overflowing with stunning gardens. They offer a a complimentary shuttle service into town also. The staff were amazing, helpful and extremely lovey. Sujana helped us throughout our stay, providing us with lots of useful information and a great tour on our last day in Ubud. Couldn't have asked for a better stay and will be back!

I would say it is excellent! This is my first trip to Bali ang choosing Vila Kayu Lama as my 1 night stay was such an excellent idea.
