I stayed here for a few nights. It was possibly the most beautiful place I ever stayed at. The WiFi is limited to the reception area, but the view from the bungalow is unrivaled. Definitely go again

Fantastic Set-Up”
The whole place is gorgeous! Cabins are private and right next to the water. It's a bit more removed which we loved, but if you want to have easy access to central Tuk Tuk its best to rent a motorbike. Everyone was helpful and friendly. A fantastic place to stay.

Lovely stay ”
I chosed a room with the traditional type of house and it was a nice experience to stay. The location is not a matter since we rented a motorcycle at the hotel which is affordable. All staffs were kind. All in all, It is recommended!

Staff picked us up from the main area in Tuktuk but the communication could be improved. We had called in advance to confirm a pick-up time but when we called again after half an hour passed, they said no one was sent yet. There is privacy as we got our own bungalow with a good view of the lake, but I feel that too many people kept walking past. We were able to rent a bike. Location is a little quiet but great for those who want some peace to enjoy the lake.

The room is starkly different from the picture, with only heather shower and no other facilities. Not clean. Not recommended at all. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is on the bank of the lake like most of the hotel in that area.

Amazing stay ”
I really enjoyed my stay in Tuk Tuk Timbul Bungalows. The bungalows are surrounded by a nice garden with all sorts of fruits trees. I slept in a traditional Batak house just in a front of the lake with an amazing vue (like all the bungalows). The food at the restaurant is really good and cheap! I recommend this place and I will come back for sure!

Budget Accommodation in a 5-star Location”
This property offers spacious, individual bungalows with a bed, bathroom, balcony and maybe a fan, located right at the edge of beautiful Lake Toba. Sunset views beside the lake are fabulous! The Dutch owner and her staff are friendly and flexible, and the restaurant food is delicious and inexpensive. The property is a peaceful haven away from the hustle and bustle of Tuk Tuk town - about 30 mins walk or the staff will arrange you transport - and about 10 mins walk to the smaller town of Ambarita. The only potential challenge may be individual long-stay residents who are opinionated, but harmless. If this causes you discomfort, practise avoidance.

Memorable stay”
This hotel is located in a calm place with awesome lake view. The room was like a traditional Batak house. It was very spacious and clean. The staff were nice and helpful. The complementary water is provided only on the first day irrespective of how many days we stay there. Overall a better place to stay in Samosir.

Family business, on arrival the Manager was there to welcome us, have rooms rates a bit high, can get better rate at other places, staff are very friendly, they have a restaurant catering for guests. should have TV in room, some room no fan provided, anyhow we enjoy our stay at Tuk Tuk Timbul

Quiet and relaxing place with awesome view”
Everything was perfect. Nice, clean and spacious bungalow beside the lake. Awesome view, and beautiful sunrise. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Quite far from the city center (Tomok), but motorbike for rental is available at 100,000 Rp. In-house restaurant served reasonable priced food that taste good. Hotel fulfilled our request for twin bed too. Perfect hot/cold shower available. There is a children swimming pool that are filled with lake water, but it takes hours to fill up, so book a day early if want to use the children pool. Can swim in the lake directly if you wish, but it can go deep until more than 6 feet after about 3 meter away from the shore. Only 2 wishes: 1) please provide kettle in the room for us to make hot drink. A bit hassle to have to buy hot water from the restaurant to make a drink, as we need to go to the restaurant to do that, as no phone to call for room service. 2)Wifi is only available at the lobby/restaurant only. Good to have in the bungalow too.

Tea and coffee making facilities in our room would have been lovely. Overall, a very nice and peaceful place to stay. A little bit out of the main part of Tuk Tuk which might not suit everybody.

Decent accomodation”
Tuk Tuk Timbul is a decent accommodation. The highlight of our stay was to 'live' in a traditional Batak house. The toilets are also very clean - which is a plus point for me! However, there wasn't a working bidet in the toilet and the hotel is actually located quite a distance away from the main Tuk Tuk area. If you like a secluded, quiet area, then this is the place for you.

Simple but great location”
Location was great, clear view of sunrise and quiet area. The bungalows are a bit old and rundown. Had to borrow a fan to sleep because the room was warm at night. Not much amenities (no tv, swimming pool etc). However, staff was really friendly and nice. Good place to chill and read. Wifi is available at common areas. They have 2 friendly dogs in the compound. Food at the restaurant is freshly prepared and delicious.

Beautiful Scenery, Fascinating Culture. ”
The best thing about TukTuk Timbul Bungalows was its location. Off the beaten path, maybe a little difficult to access, but well worth the effort. The scenery around the location is breathtaking, the staff are friendly and helpful, food is basic but good and reasonably priced. We enjoyed our stay.

Nice quiet place but its a bit off the city center and tuk tuk jetty”
It will only be a nice place to stay if you have your transport or you know how to ride a bike. rental of bike is about 100k idr per day. there is no grab or taxi there but private bikers or tuk tuk kind of transport thay may charge you high price if you do not have transport or dont know how to ride a bike. room is spacious but quite dirty as there is ants around. but its a nice relax place to be in to see the lake and chill beside the lake. no kayaking provided...
