The hotel we chose for our first trip to Singapore as a couple was our final choice. It is located facing a major road and is within walking distance of Chinatown. The welcome drink served in the elegant lobby included traditional oolong tea and mooncakes (National Day version). The room had a stunning view and was equipped with Japanese standard facilities. The Washlet was a particularly unexpected surprise. The sophisticated design incorporated modern elements, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful lighting of the financial district at night. The gym is located on the top floor (30F) and on weekdays, it is quiet like a private gym. The terrace outside is highly recommended for breakfast. You can feel the atmosphere of Singapore's financial district and enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful cityscape. This hotel is perfect in every way, and we would definitely choose it again for our next stay.

A great base for our 5 night stay”
We had a very nice stay here. After much investigation and multiple choices we plumped for The Clan. It wasn’t the cheapest it is true to say but after much consideration, maybe you do get what you pay for sometimes. We use a hotel (room) as just a base to return to after a day of exploring and experiences. We did not venture past the lift other than checking in and out, therefore cannot comment on the hotel facilities outside of our room. That said a trip to the pool and gym on floor 30 in error showed them to be perfectly adequate and not that busy. So to the good and bad points…. Bad…none that spring to mind. Good…the room was comfortable and suited our needs well. Functional but not spacious, but not tiny either. The bed was extremely comfortable and the pillows the best we have had in all the years we have been travelling. The shower was superb and that matters in theat climate. The automatic toilet was entertaining and greeted us frequently causing some amusement. Four lifts ensured we were not kept waiting very long. The concierge and desk staff were very pleasant and helpful as were the room cleaners. We didn’t interact with any other staff. Location wise it was perfect for us. Right on the doorstep of Chinatown and next to an MRT (metro) station. There was also a Starbucks nearby as were a couple of Hawker centres (food). The MRT is quite brilliant and a great way to get around Singapore. I’s suggest doing some “homework “ prior to a trip here as ghere is so much to see. We certainly enjoyed our short trip and The Clan was part of that experience.
Great facilities marred by terrible bedding and weird policies”
I have mixed feelings about our stay at The Clan. There are some things I loved about the setup, and the staff do try, but unfortunately the hotel (with its current issues) is not for me. The positives * Location is very central, next to the Downtown station and there's such a great mix of cafes, local and trendy dining spots. * The entry-level Deluxe room is generally well-appointed, and somewhat spacious. Decor is modern and elegant. * Numerous charging ports and plugs available. * You can request for a proper office chair, and even an additional table so 2 people can work comfortably. * The bay window seats are more useful (and cleaner, in my opinion) than fabric sofas. They also double-up as additional seating if a second person needs to work. * The main room wifi works pretty well since we were working throughout our stay. * Water pressure in the shower is great. * The toilets are Toto with built-in bidet * Chromecast option on the TV gives more flexibility over your entertainment choices (there are some annoyances though - see below) * The view from the pool is great, and it's also deep enough for some light swimming. Booking slots for the deckchairs is annoying but not too bad. * A tap for filtered water in the bathroom was a nice touch. The water temperature was also relatively cooling. Would be good if the hotel also provided a bottle for use during the stay - this would be convenient to keep water by the bedside without risking spillage. * There are 3 spacious shower suites at the pool area which would be very useful for travellers who need to freshen up before/after their stay. Dealbreaker * The bedding is relatively soft, which is pretty sad for lumbar support. According to the receptionist, their bedding is fixed, so there's nothing you can do to be more comfortable. Quite surprised they don't at least have additional mattress toppers to adjust. There are things I really enjoyed about my stay, but for this reason alone I wouldn't be returning. * Had trouble getting alternative pillows from the receptionist because pillow options are only for higher category rooms, and even asked me if I wanted to upgrade for this purpose. For an establishment that calls itself a "modern luxury hotel" and charges upwards of S$350 most nights, that's such a joke. The rooms do come with a set of firm and a set of soft pillows by default, but they just weren't comfortable (the firm pillow was too high). This feels like a penny foolish policy because nothing mars a guest experience as much as not being able to sleep well. The major annoyances * Getting parking coupons is a hassle for staycays. Unlike other hotels we've done staycays at, The Clan kept insisting that they only provide one coupon per day and this info is not explicitly provided on the website. It took 5-10 min with a lot of firm insistence on our part to get the hotel to agree to provide 2 parking coupons per day. On top of that, the coupons expire every midnight, so when we tried to exit using the previous day's coupon, we were stuck at the carpark for a good 10-15min. Luckily the security person manning the carpark was helpful and sorted it out. It would have been much less frustrating if A) the parking coupons had at least validity for the week to minimise hassle or B) parking was associated to our car plate for the full duration of our stay (with some generosity on the last day). Given that the parking was still under the * It's so hard to get ahold of help, short of physically going to the reception. We emailed some questions and requests via Agoda but didn't get a reply ahead of our stay. We tried to call up the hotel but couldn't get through. Even during the stay itself, it often took 4-5 calls to get through (once, the receptionist rang back, so that was appreciated). Post-stay I ran into a minor problem and needed to contact The Clan. Even Far East's central line couldn't get through, gee. Quite a lot of hotels these days seem to offer an asynchron

Our stay at The Clan Hotel was delightful, we would love to stay here again. Upon arrival, our bags were taken at the door and delivered to our room with a smile. Upon checking in, the team noted that it had been my birthday the day before we arrived when provided our ID for check in, and delivered a cake to our room whilst we were out to dinner that night. The room was beautiful, very clean, great view and wonderful facilities in the room. The complimentary tea ceremony was also a delightful experience. Upon check out, we were offered to use the pool/shower facilities upon our return to collect our bags later in the day before departure. Great location and wonderful hotel, would 100% recommend!

I’m amazed by their customer service as I mailed them at 6am to ask if early check in was available and got an instant reply! And found out they offer luggage storage services, as well as access to shower facilities, allowing their guests to refresh while waiting for their accommodation, how considerate. The staff greeted us warmly and was so helpful with our luggage, checked in was swift and smooth. The room was clean and exquisite, when I say clean, is “no hair at the shower drain, on the bed or anywhere else” clean. It’s fully soundproofed so a good night sleep was guaranteed. The shower works perfectly. The location is superb, just a fifteen minutes walk to the Merlion, a five minutes walk to Lau Pa Sat where you can find various food and the best satay in Singapore. Famous Bak Kut Teh, Hainanese chicken rice are with walking distance too. Gardens by the bay, Bugis, Little India and other tourists attractions are just a few stations away. Considered the location which is in the downtown, the price is relatively cheap. Definitely would like to stay again in The Clan on our next visit to Singapore.
