Tabanan hotels & places to stay

Pros: nice room with good AC, comfy big bed, everything very clean, best shower in Bali, small nice warm pool, free coffee and Tea facilities are a nice add on, Linda keeps the place real tidy and well kept after! Cons: some noise from other guests and motorbikes (parking directly in front). Stayed 8 nights - nice surrounding area (ricefields). Will come back in April!!!

The staff is super nice and the breakfast is excellent. You can rent a motorbike for 60k a day. There's a shower outside for when you come back from surfing. The atmosphere is really relaxed, with the trees, flowers, birds and the sound of the ocean nearby. I took away a star for location because it doesn't have a view on the sea and for value because you can get cheaper homestays but it's still a very good one.

This was the first place we stayed after arriving. We were a bit worried as we approached as it is quite near one of the main roads north, but once you turn off, it is really peaceful and you cannot hear the traffic. The guesthouse is lovely. Peaceful with views over the paddies. Bikes to hire so you can take a cycle through the fields. It is near enough to Tabanan, the south coat and ubud that you can go for a day trip. The little pool is nice. The only thing that left it down is the food which is basic. This is partly because I am vegetarian, so choice was limited, but partly because it is fairly fast food. Luckily there is another guest house with restaurant just around the corner, so we went there to eat after the first night. Breakfast was OK, but not special. Staff are lovely.

The staff were so friendly, gave us free rides to ATM. Which are far, so make sure you bring enough money with you. The food at the restaurant was very good and cheap. The breakfast was great! The beds were super comfy. We would recommend this place to anyone. We are sad we didn’t get to stay longer!! Christna(manager), Darma(driver) and Waran( restaurant manager) all went above and beyond with us and our children.

This resort has the nicest restaurant setting surrounded by lilly ponds and overlooking the pool area.The villa deluxe rooms are really big and have the nicest semi outdoor bathroom with a big bath right in the middle of a fish pond area.Sometimes at dinner there might only be 1 other couple so you get looked after really well and the selection of food and the price is great.The breakfast (all included) is some of the best I have had in Bali.There is a nice safe walk that starts right at this resort and takes you south through all the rice fields and you can even walk all the way to Taman Ayun temple in Mengwi if you are up to it.The local villages are just beautiful and so safe to walk around and soak up all the Bali hospitality.If you are there for one of the many Balinese festivals it is not hard to get invited and take part.All up a fantastic place to stay and immerse your self with the Balinese lifestyle

we booked this hotel, after we stayed 4 weeks in ubud, we wanted to get away from all this trouble and relax a bit in the nature, this is a perfect place for this. when we arrived we got some snack and tea which taste good and the stuff was friendly and helpful, the room was nice, big and clean. the area arround is just beautiful, especially the spring pool, you walk down a dschungle for 10 minutes and suddenly this the pool appears, we went dipping there every morning after doing yoga! but here is the bad thing, the food was disappointing, the first day they messed up our order abit, i got wrong food but generally the food quality changed everyday, so you never know what you get, we talked also to other customers and some got not well cooked fish,i order tuna spaghetti and got prawn spaghetti without any explanation,the food was mostly to oily,sometimes the spices were in balance sometimes not they had only two fruit to offer in this 4 days , mellon and watermelon unlike in any other place we ate in bali in 6 weeks, and the food problem here is a bit bigger, cause there is not really a other restaurant near by. it would be nice if aura shanti could make the food more healthy and make more fresh veggies and fruits available and maybe have a real cook! than this place could be perfect! it was my birthday when we arrived and they were so nice, they suprissed me with a cake and sang happy birthday, and even the food was not good i enjoyed everything else.

The place is neat and clean and the people who run it are lovely and helpful. The rooms have several complimentary products: water, toothbrush and toothpaste, tea and coffee. The shower is great and has hot water, which is a bonus in Indonesia. The negative aspect is that the rooms are VERY tiny and they have NO window, so the feeling is a bit claustrophobic and the quality of the air is poor. Internet works perfectly. Get ready to hear the mosque chants in the middle of the night.

Lovely place to stay, with the best view. We stayed upstairs for the view for $5 more, but when we got there , we could've stayed below as the view was great from down stairs also. Rooms aren't very big but big enough!! . There is a double and a single bed. We would wake up to a beautiful view from the bed each morning. There is no kettle or fridge in the room. Breakfast was basic but very tasty. The garden is beautiful which gives the hotel a lovely feel. There are lots of restaurants nearby and a lovely coffee shop just on road behind hotel, that make the best coffee!! There isn't a great deal todo in Balian but chill,. It was wonderful to get out of the busy part of Bali. This place is a gem! and so quiet, but Balian is getting busy so I want to enjoy it before it changes. I definitely will back again next year. My only issue is the beds are very hard and the pool is too strong with chemicals which made swimming uncomfortable and burnt my eyes, but I did mention it so ...

We enjoyed our stay, the hotel is located in a tranquil part of Bali. For those who look for a relaxing stay without traffic and hoards of tourists this is the place. Don't expect anything fancy but what you get is good. Literally on the beach and very close to beach restaurants and bars. Admitting it takes a bit of an effort (organised by the hotel) to get there but once you are there relax and enjoy. We are fam. with two small kids, they enjoyed it a lot, beach and pool what else do you need!

This hotel is basically the hub of Balian, perched right in front of the local surf break that draws many of the visitors. The location is perfect, and you can watch the waves while you eat breakfast or sip a cocktail by the pool, so the setup is optimal for surfing families. If you expect a five-star resort you might be a little disappointed...the free breakfast is good but otherwise the restaurant is so-so. The rooms are rustic, with lots of character but you'll be sharing the space with ants and lizards. The surf break is great when it's on, but while we were there the swell was too big for much of our stay...it's 30 minutes by scooter to Medewi which holds up to a bigger swell. The staff are awesome, friendly and personable. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a charming, rustic and quiet visit to a chilled out slice of paradise.

The location is so peaceful and lush and green. The weather is lovely, cooler in the mornings and evenings and not humid. There is not a lot of traffic or tourists. No hawkers and tacky shops. I feel this is the real Bali, the reason I want to holiday in Bali, for the nature, culture, customs, food and people. The staff are always happy, friendly and helpful. The cycling tour is the best way to see a lot of things around the area, a great way to meet the locals and see how they live and good photo opportunities. I also enjoyed the walking tour which was organised by Sarah-Jayne, this is a complimentary tour for guests of the Villas, you can choose how long and what you would like to see and do, also you can choose to go by yourselves or with a guide, my guide, Katuk had a lot of knowledge about the local area and you even get to try the food freshly picked from the trees. The restaurant drinks and food are outstanding, I highly recommend the chicken dish which is served sizzling on its own barbecue, it's amazing. A wonderful stay, for my first trip to Bali and my first accommodation.

We knew little about BMR and only got to know from the internet. Although we had been advised about its location, we managed to find our way quite easily (thanks to the map provided by BMR). We enjoy the tranquility, the staff friendliness, Rani's warmth welcome, the accommodation, etc. We would like extend our appreciation to the female staffs who not only manage the restaurants but also manning the reception and answer to all the enquiries. I would highly recommend BMR to those who wants to experience a relaxing stay in Tabanan.

This place is amazing. You feel completely secluded and relaxed. You are located near a babbling river and surrounded by the most amazing hot springs. It was just lovely. Also, there is a Nasi Campur place located near the entrance of the hotel (at the road side) that has the most amazing red rice nasi campur I have ever had. It is only 10,000 IDR and you will remember it forever. The red rice is from a nearby rice field.

We probably found one of the very best place in Bali. Here, it’s not just about sleeping but more about sharing precious moments with local people. Interesting talks with Adi, the owner, culinary and cooking experience with Kedek, and of course nights with guitars around the fire with friends of theirs. It was truly amazing, best experience so far in Bali. * amazing stuff to see in the area (jatiluwih rice fields, batukaru temple...) ** hoping to be back soon Thanks again for everything !

I simply love this place. I came back after finding it at the tail end of my last visit 3 years ago with hopes that it was still as wonderful as I remembered. I was not disappointed! The four villas have a lovely view of the ocean and giant cliff cove. You can use the pool at Gajah Mina next door (a much more expensive place) for 50,000 Rupiah per day. They also have a restaurant with amazing food if you want something that Krisna Villas can not provide, such as organic salads or fresh fish. The rooms are simple but clean. I recommend using a mosquito net to protect you from falling lizard poop though, a common hazard in Bali. The hot shower was surprisingly good. The first night I was there, the other three villas were rented by a group of young travelers who were a bit loud until around midnight. The other two nights were completely quiet. The best part for me was being able to access a beautiful beach down the nature path about 10 minutes away. I walked for hours each day and only saw a handful of people, all but one were local fisherman and their kids…and absolutely no trash! If you're into surfing and more nightlife you can walk in the other direction about 10 minutes as well. The waves are huge so only plan on swimming if you're experienced! Lastly, I needed very little from the staff, but they were all very sweet and responsive during my short stay. I hope this little oasis remains untouched…it's so very different from the other beaches I've visited. Enjoy!

The villa was the best experience we have had whilst travelling Bali and around South East Asia. The villa is located slightly away from the congested cities, however, it's very easily acceasbile either renting a bike or hiring a driver for the for R600,000 (£30) for the whole day. The small village and people are amazing, which is perfect for a city getway with a stunning view of the rice terrace. The staff are well above 5 stars and they go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. During our stay, we requested on the day to rent a bike and they were willing to allow us to use their bikes to go to beach which was around 10 to 15 minutes away from the villa as an example on how friendly they are. The Butler Abdi is one of the best people I have met during my travel to which till this day I am still in contact with him and become a close friend of mine. He recommended a local restaurant and introduced us to the family, they were amazing people and would recommend

If we were to use one word to describe our stay at Shankari's Bali Retreat, it would be "desolate". Which wasn't all bad, we were the only guests at the hotel so we had all 3 pools to ourselves and all the gazebos and it was very quiet and peaceful. However, when we arrived to the retreat we inquired about yoga in the morning as we wanted to take a class, we were then told that they did not offer any yoga. I work in the hotel industry and am always taught that when you offer something on your website and on your reception board that says" daily yoga at 8 am" you should probably offer it, especially since they advocate themselves as a "yoga retreat", and this was one of the reasons we chose the place. Secondly, we kind of felt abandoned and ignored the entire time we were there. They seemed to be running on a skeleton crew due to their low occupancy, which I can understand but atleast make an effort. At some points we would sit at the restaurant for 10 minutes waiting for someone to come along and serve us, and when no one showed we walked down to the beach and ate another restaurant, which may have been a blessing in disguise as we found better food elsewhere. It wasn't all bad, one lady did arrange transport for us and she arranged massages too, and we found the place beautiful and loved our terrace area and balcony with day beds, however we couldn't get over the staff issue and that's why we couldn't give the place a rave review.

There are 2 bungalows only for couple; to reach the bungalows ypu have to go 75 steps of stairs. Bungalows not maintain well, dust every where , rats, geckos. No TV No refrigerator. Dark and quite. The small garden around is not well maintain. You need flash light at night if you want to go out. At night you can't do any activities, just Stay in room . Shower and toilet are out door when there is rain you can not use it otherwise you will get wet. Ants every where in and out the bungalows. Breakfast very standard. Only the worker, the only worker there Bp Mangku is good.

Great hotel at the countryside area. Blackout happened for around 2 hours, it affected the whole area around there. Thus, we had our "candle dinner" in the restaurant, the hotel was still able to serve our dinner with no electricity. No air-conditioner and ceiling fan provided, only standing fan was provided in the room, but it didn't cause any problem as the surrounding temperature was cool enough. I like the way the hotel served the breakfast. Breakfast was prepared according to our orders, no buffet style.

This place is truly a hidden gem in central Bali. No need to use conditioner or watch TV, you can stare the sky during night to see the twinkling stars, and cycling in the field would be nice (although we stayed up too late to do that). One of the cons is it's really far away from thing, Suggest to bring food before check in. Staff was very helpful and even helped to bring me to a small local market to buy foods and drink. Hot water needed to be reheated every 30 mins when one has done his/her showering is also another con.
