Where to stay in Shimoda
Shimoda hotels & accommodations

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Shimoda Tokyu Hotel. I stayed one night in a double room with view over the ocean for a discount of more than 70% so it was cheap for this kind of service. The room was comfortable with great products in the bathroom, comfy robe, towels and bed linen, as well as free hot drinks and water bottles. The best part were probably the breakfas...

Excellent location, right on the beach. Draw your curtains in the morning and you can see beautiful sunshine shining on a great looking stretch of sand. Excellent staff very helpful, especially the Australia educated lady at the front desk with excellent English. Goods Japanese options at the hotel and few pice pizza placed within a short walk from the hotel

Start from Shuttle bus. Driver friendly and helpful. Check in process. Well prepared for our arrival. Rather than stand at counter, we completed the whole process by sitting at desk with a very kindly speaking staff. Staff took us to our room, checked and changed the pajama size for my little one while explaining all hotel facilities. Dinner is a highlight. What...

The location is a little away from the train station, but the town of Shimoda isn't too big anyway. The hotel facilities are great! My room had a beautiful view of the beach and an outdoor bathtub with onsen water. The public onsen, especially the outdoor one that's on top of a trail walk, was also just wonderful! The staffs didn't speak too much English but they offer...

The owner, Mr Yamamoto, was vey helpful and answered our questions about Shimoda. The Italian restaurant that's about 100yards is called Restaurant Patata served really good food. Down the street is the Shirahama Beach, and there's also 7-11 and Family Mart close by. Really great location.

I have mixed feelings about the booking. It's not a room, you book a whole house!! While booking, the price for 2 person is 7800 yen, at the place I was told the price is 7800 yen per person + 1000 cleaning fee (per person?). I refused to pay it, and just paid 9000 yen (7800 + 1000, didn't get 200yen change, just saying). 7800 yen per person may be a fair price, but i...

When we arrived, we were told that the hotel was closed, and indeed, it appeared so.... dimly lit, aging, and pet bunnies (???) hanging out in the lobby. We presented our reservations, and apparently we and our friends were the only guests that weekend so it was really rather creepy. The Japanese rooms were clean and decent for the price, but beware! this hotel does ...
