Sekupang hotels & places to stay

I consider myself a regular to this resort as my first visit last year prompted me to always come back. Located along the seaside, it's perfect to be away from the hustle and bustle of city life. A lot of improvements were done since my first visit. 5-10 minutes drive from Sekupang Terminal meant that you have more time resting before doing some shopping. Staff are all amazing and courteous, facilities and services provided are superb, cleanliness is top notch. FREE shuttle service is available for pickup and dropoff between hotel & sekupang terminal only. Do expect the occasional insects + mosquitoes, though I'm not concerned since it is situated around greenery and they provide mosquito repellant lotion too. The only thing that needs more work is the spa/massage as I find it too much above my budget. Nonetheless it's always a fresh breath of air and uninterrupted views = beautiful sunsets. I'm looking forward to my next visit soon!

I travelled with a two year old so it was nice that the hotel was very short drive from the ferry terminal in Sekupang. I knew from reading the review that the hotel was undergoing a massive renovation but the construction was minimal during my stay. The pool - very big and equipped with a lot of fun toys! There is not much shade during the day so don't forget your sunscreen (the hotel do not sell them.) Restaurant / Room Service - Although the service was great, there is not much options for food as of August 2018. I found the quality of food to be better than expected. The fruit salad had dressing on it. That was surprising. Spa - THE MASSAGE WAS HEAVENLY. I should have gotten another massage if I had more time.

Travel from Sekupang to hotel was about 5 minutes. Every guest was accorded their own space for the introductions. We were told about everything and confirmed all aspects of our next day spa. We requested for the japanese room was pleasantly surprised by it. room was as shown in the pictures. best part was the jacuzzi infront of the TV. channels were non-existent but they had a thumbdrive for you to bring over some of the DVD files that they have. could possibly bring your own files as well. shower was big enough to fit 2 and a bed looked from a japan hotel. only 13 rooms so over-crowding at the restaurant area is non-existent. you could sit at the same table for hours and not worry about people looking at your table. food was in SGD so it was a bit costly, but considering that we had a hard time finishing the excellent sprite-can-chicken it was quite worth it. 3 swimming pools. do not push your partner into the pool near the india room, as it was the salt-water pool. the other 2 people are fresh-water and at times, you can be the only one using the pool. spent a good 2 hour reading my book by the pool. breakfast was quite limited. considering we had a heavy dinner, the breakfast was enough for both us. the spa was fantastic. i selected office massage, ear candling and lavender scrub. the office massage was a combination of thai and indonesian massage so it hit the spot for me. it was my first time doing ear candling and to see the ear wax after it was quite interesting. scrub was good as skin is still feeling smooth even till now. check out was a breeze as every room has their own clipboard. they were able to separate the bill for credit and cash payment and were accommodating enough to allow us to view the empty rooms for future references. we saw a total of 6 rooms and made a mental note of which to book the next time we go over. so if u have interest in the other rooms, just ask Martha if it's possible when the room is being cleaned for house keeping.

The owners Lisa and her husband are both very welcoming, and Lisa was around most days to give advice on local markets, travel, shopping, basically anything I asked she helped me with. She took me on a tour of tje local market and made sure I paid the right prices, and helped arrange anything I needed. The rooms are basic and a bit old, but clean and totally fine for a budget traveller. Aircon was not great in my original room which had a sit down toilet and two single beds, so I moved to one with a double bed, better aircon, but squat toilet, which was no problem as I've lived and travelled in China for a long time. Shower was just a bucket, but again, not an issue for me, give it a try and you'll realise it really isn't a big deal! Location is a bit out of the way, nothing much round where the house is, hut a good snapshot of non-touristy local life, I was the only foreigner I saw the whole time I was there. You can get a motorbike taxi or taxi to other places easily. Overall I highly recommend it if you want to save money and meet a real, genuine, friendly Indonesian family and aren't expecting a five star hotel service, just living as a guest in someone's home.

I think the listing should be more honest. There was a lot of information left out on this house. I was here on a short getaway with my husband. We arrived much later than our ETA due to departure and arrival delays to Batam, so I was grateful that the caretaker was still around to open the door. But the address and pinned location given on the map was not accurate. We found the house because I recognised its colour from the pictures. The room was very basic. To be fair this seemed like the best choice at the very last minute as I was looking for a place within budget offering a bathroom with a bathtub. However we were highly disappointed when the hot water didn't run for long, and the bath tub barely filled 1/4. Why install a tub and advertise it if it does not function well?Aside from the few negatives, this listing left out positives as well. There are a lot of local eateries and minimarts within 5-20 minute walking distance. I like local food so this was a huge plus.
