Zurich Canton hotels & places to stay

This older, updated hotel is walking distance to all of city center Zurich. A friend stayed in another close 3 star hotel that was not nearly as nice. The garden behind the hotel with a lovely old fountain helps drown out the busy city noise and provides a tranquil respite from the hurried city life. The biggest negative is the internet situation. One can use a couple of older public computers in the lobby for no charge or pay high fees for wireless in their rooms. I am use to free WFI and faster speeds. Makes conducting business expensive.

If you are passing through Zurich and need a night stay.. This is the perfect hotel. Get out of airoort and cross over to the train station and hotel is right there. No need for shuttle bus transfer! If anything i wish there is a kettle for hot water. Using the coffee maker to boil water is not ideal but at least you get hot water albeit with slight coffee taste. Highly recommend the Radisson Blue at Zurich airport.

A bit far from the center, but access is totally easy. Tram is only a few steps away from the hotel, it gets you to the city in around 30 minutes (tram 10). Please note that you need to arrange your journey accordingly. Though ticket machine is available everywhere even in the tram stop outside the hotel, zoning in Zurich is pretty confusing. It can really cost you lots of money. And because this hotel is located in zone 121 (airport), I suggest you to go to tourist information in Zurich HB (if you arrive by train) and ask for 2 zones ticket (110-city and 121). They will charge you only around 13 chf. I didn't manage to see this option in the machine tho :( Airport is only 3 minutes away (tram 10/tram 12). From the airport it will stop in Glattbrug to the hotel, but you can stay to continue your journey to the city. From the Zurich HB, you can also take tram 10 from the Center. Room is apt, efficient, comfortable, and affordable. Staff (reception) is very welcoming and friendly

i just completed a 1 night stay in best western montana, zurich and i feel compelled to make a review. i am a very frequent business traveller and my work and habits entitle me to premium travel facilities such as 5 star hotels etc. the issue is that most of my trips are done on very short noitce which is always a problem for travelling to cities like zurich that often run out of premium faciltiies because of numerous conventions, events and other happenings that always take place in the city. for the few facilties left in such cases the hotels charge a way above the top-dollar for claustrophobia inducive rooms that sometimes it doesn't make sense. anyway, such was the case last time i made a trip and my assistant could only book me at bw montana which is classified as 3 star hotel, huge contrast to my usual stays. given that i had to spend only a night, i was okay with that but had huge concerns and reservations. so, the hotel is just less than 5 minute walk from the underpass of the zurich main station which is the heart of the swiss transport system. it offers large choice of fast food restaurants, supermarkets and of course starbucks. you are also just 5 minutes away from the main business district which is extremely important for me. untypical for train station neighbourhood, this one is clean, quiet, safe and no strange characters around. the hotel has a small lobby but very welcoming and charming staff. when i arrived my room wasn't ready as it was too early but the receptionist was very kind and apologetic although i haven't given a notice of early arrival and the check-in time anyway was still 5 hours later. anyway, had to rush for meetings, left my baggage and when i came back later the day, i could already get into my room. it was bigger than the average single swiss rooms, very clean with very clean sheets on a comfortable bed. the bathroom was large enough and had a bathtube, still impeccably clean. i had to be up by 6 to catch a plane and i chec

We stayed for a duration of 4 days and three nights. Many places in Zurich are quite pricey but this hotel managed to keep in our budget and was not a big sacrifice in distance to places or things because it was so close to a tram line which lead to anywhere. The staff were so friendly and helpful they spent half an hour explaining to us where to go and where not to go in Zurich. Rarely see that service unless you go to the major big hotels with a full on concierge service. The rooms were roomy, we had plenty of space to move and were very comfortable. Unfortunately didnt try the breakfast or lunch but the menu looked interesting. Definitely would return here if staying in Zurich again

The location of the hotel is good, quiet, away from the busy centre but only a short walking distance to public transport and main landmarks. The reception service is good. Althiugh check in is 2pm, they had a room available beforehand and let us check in. The rooms are a good size. Comfortable beds and could sleep well without noise from the street or other guests. The was a good selection of hot and cold options for breakfast, although the fruit didnt seem fresh. All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you are planning a short stay in Zurich.

I loved how they constantly sent email communications regarding my booking, any special request, and even after my check-out. It made me feel like they really value their guests. I also appreciated the little touches in the room, the amenities, and that they offered a bottle of water -- free of charge when I checked out. The location is great, which is right next to Bahnhofstrasse, but at the same time, it's on a low-traffic street. It's so easy to get there from the main train station. The staff are helpful albeit not too warm (but maybe that's just a cultural thing). Breakfast was good. I also appreciated the CHF 10 voucher, which I was able to use at their restaurant. My only comment is that there wasn't any toothbrush and toothpaste, which I thought was pretty standard even for cheap hotels. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay and would certainly choose this hotel again should I return to Zurich.

Traveling for holiday with my wife and stayed in this hotel for the weekend. Though away from the main shopping district, it is accessible to the downtown by a 2 mins train ride and the Swiss SBB station is only less than 5 minutes' brisk walk away. There is also a direct train every 30 mins to Zurich Airport on train #16. Singapore Airlines crew also stays in this hotel.

The room is clean but somehow there is this smoky smell in the room that I dislike. The bed is comfortable and large enough. The room is bright as it has a large window. Need to note that there is no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. That means there is no kettle to boil water as well. The tram stop (No. 4) at Technopark is behind the hotel and it's about 12 minutes ride to Zurich HB station. You can also take a train to Hardbrucke Station from Zurich HB (less than 5 mins ride), but you need to walk for about 10 mins to the hotel. If the weather is hot, I suggest you take the tram which is quite frequent (every 10 mins).

I arrived at the Zurich airport train station from Lucern around 9pm and took the shuttle service provided by NH Zurich hotel. My son and I were the only passengers and we were informed by the driver that the pick-up service is available to 11pm! When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk staff is professional and warm and am being informed on the shuttle bus service available for the following morning as we are checking out early. Room is big & bed is comfy for the price I pay. The next morning, the two of us are again the only passengers that are shuttled to the airport. The drivers are courteous and try to make the short 6min journey more pleasant by engaging us in conversation. It makes us feel welcome and leave a deep impression at the end of our trip.

Our flight arrived at 6:30am, it was cold and dark and we took the train from the airport. Once we arrived at the main station we followed the walking directions to the hotel and arrived within 10minutes. I didn't get the girls name at reception but she was super helpful.she let us put our luggage in the locked luggage room while we went out to get some breakfast as check-in isn't until 2pm . She went out of her way to organise a room for us as soon as possible, the city had a power outage for approx 45mins and when we returned around 9:30am She had arranged a room for us and continued to be really helpful and a delight to deal with. The room was warm, bed was comfortable, the bathrooms are recently renovated And clean. I would stay here again and recommend to friends and family. When searching for hotels in Zurich keep in mind that everything is quiet expensive by Australian standards. For the price we paid, the location couldn't be better, the hotel rating is spot on, most of the tourist attractions are within walking distance. Breakfast was plentiful. We loved the croissants and cheeses. Highly recommend!

visiting one of the most expensive city during summer means a big trouble find an acommodation. four points surprisingly one of the most affordable hotel in zurich. given its reputation because it is under sheraton, we put a lot of expectation. we were surprised with a very spacious room and bed. its probably one of the best bed. the location might not be in the city center but it is next to first mall in zurich,sihlcity and arena cinemas. to kill some times,you might want to go visit cinema or media markt (thought i noticed it is more expensive than other city) or cruising the mall. you got everything you need under a very good price. one thing i actually felt disappointed is the wifi connection.it required us to relogin all the times. other than that?definetly a come back

loved the place. free internet to catch up on mails, skype loved ones back home, whatsapp. nice quiet environment (located near airport at the suburbs of zurich with many manufacturing companies around; volvo, baxter etc). tram ride to zurich city centre costs 12.80 chf for 2 way ride. ticket is valid for 24 hours from the time it is validated by the machine. journey takes about 30 mins to city centre and 10 mins to airport. seldom crowded. good for airport transfers, even up till the city centre. cab fare from airport to hotel is 25 chf for a 5 min ride! only saw 2 restaurants within 10 mins walk from hotel. had meals at the area around tram stop "sternen oerlikon" which is about 15 mins ride.

This is an excellent hotel for a between flights stop-over at Zurich. Free shuttle both ways every 10-15 minutes. Efficient and helpful staff in all areas. Good choice of restaurants and pleasant bar. Comfortable, spotless rooms. (Smoking or non-smoking). Everything you need for a rest between late arrival and early departure. Hotels in Zurich can be ridiculously expensive. This is not. I'd not look anywhere else under similar circunstances.

Best location ever right next to the river!!! Superb view n we r beyond speechless. Perfect for our honeymoon! The staffs were super top notch!! Friendly n helpful to our questions n needs!!! The room was so amazingly clean, NEW, aestheticly beautiful and the toilets too!!! So freaking perfect last stay in Zurich! Wished we stayed there longer!!! Will be back for sure! Atlantis Guesthouse was located near the train station, but it was not so near the main station. It was still convenient to go to the city center. It was clean, and good enough for our 4-day stay in Zurich. The beds were large, which is a plus. Service is good and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was average -- the usual continental buffet. I heard the hotels in Zurich are usually overpriced, so this hotel gives us the value for our money. Although it was far from the city, it was convenient enough for light travelers and those who want to see a different side of Zurich.

We stayed only one night. When checking in, the hotel staff was very kind and friendly. They have a map and the staff was very knowledgeable when we asked locations and where to go in town. Although the hotel elevator is tiny, they have one. When we arrived at the shared bathroom room I reserved, I was surprised to see a sink available in the room, which was very convenient. The hotel has a cold breakfast buffet that we did not have time to use (since we were flying out the next morning) but it looked nice. Location is about a 15minute walk from the main city area and lake but very easy to get to. (Ask for a map at reception.) It's worth the walk for the great value rooms, and since it was beautiful to walk around and explore. There is a train station called Zurich- wiedikon station which was a close 3-5minute walk, that goes strait to Zurich HB station, where you can transfer to another train that goes to Zurich Flughafen station a.k.a Zurich airport. Very easy and convenient. All and all, we had a great stay in Zurich touring the lake, city area, and old town.

The Hotel is well situated for the business traveler, being near the center of activity. It is also well situated if you want to see/shop in the old part of Zurich and along the Bahnhof Strasse. There are a large number of restaurants to choose from in the vicinity and everything is a few minutes’ walk. I found the staff of the hotel very friendly and helpful. I arrived fairly early on my check in day (about 9 am), but every effort was made to have a room prepared for me as soon as possible and by 10:45 I was settled in. As I waited, the desk manager brought me coffee and I was able to do some work in the lobby sitting area I found the staff helpful in similar ways with advice, arranging cars and other services. Having said that, there was no formal concierge in the hotel, but I did not find a need for that. The hotel itself is quite basic. It could use some remodeling/redecorating of the lobby area; it is not set up in a way which is inviting to sit and chat for a long time with associates and friends, although I have seen people do that. The room I was in was relatively large, certainly by the standards one frequently finds in NY and London. It was bright with a modern bathroom. As one would expect in Switzerland, everything was immaculate and kept so throughout my stay, although the carpeting in my room for some reason looked like it could use replacement. It was not stained or worn, but somehow it did not look right. The room itself was furnished quite adequately, albeit not opulently. The room rate includes breakfast which was quite good. However, those who expect a buffet with 50 different choices and delicacies, this is not the place. As in much of Switzerland, I found internet usage costs to be very high relative to many other places I have traveled to. However, the hotel staff suggested the purchase of an internet card that allowed up to three hours of connection time for a reasonable price and which was good for 7 days; you decide how to ap

It's a nice place to stay if you don't want to pay over a night in Zurich, which is not unusual, and don't mind take public transportations. The receptionist are all very friendly. But we had problem with room service. By 8:30 after we had been away for more then 6 hours, the room wasn't made. When I called front desk, I was told that our room was checked being made. But the front desk was very nice and had the room made immediately. One nice feature in this hotel is that it also have a bulletin board about flight information. They also provided printer for free, which is very convenient if you check in your flight online and have to print the boarding pass. When we stayed in Best Western in Florence in Italy, I have to buy a 5 Euro card in order to print one page of my hotel reservation. Thanks free printing service provided by Novotel, our check-in at the airport was so easy!

Seeing moderate reviews on Agoda and TripAdvisor, we did not have much expection from the stay. However, surprisingly the room was fairly large for two people, extremely clean, bed was comfy with comforters thick enough for the cold weather for each of us. The breakfast was also adequate with a variety of basics like cereals, bread, eggs and hams. Its location is centralized near the old town of Zurich, but also within comfortable walking distance to the shopping area opposite the river as well as the Zurich HB.

Stayed at the Ibis because I needed to be close to the airport for an early AM flight. Hotel met my expectations. Free shuttle, clean, comfortable, and free internet were all pluses. Room was small (would become cramped, especially for more than one person, after a few nights). Very basic amenities (e.g., only one towel). Perfectly acceptable and economical for a stay near the airport prior to an early AM flight. Free shuttle runs twice an hour to airport. While it's possible to get into Zurich by bus and/or tram from the hotel, it's much simpler to take the shuttle to the airport, and then the 10 minute train into the Zurich HB.
