Our 1-night stay here was our last day in Medan. We enjoyed the pool, breakfast buffet and good service. Our pool terrace room was perfect for us - the pool right outside our balcony and breakfast buffet on the same level, too. :) After a 4-day road trip from Medan to Berastagi, Lake Toba and back to Medan, Aryaduta was certainly a great finale to our North Sumatran t...

Quite good hotel, deserves its 4 stars, costs money payed . In fact , I expected to be much worse for the money I paid. The breakfast was unexpectedly luxurious, didn't expect such quality from 4 stars in Medan. The free transfer to the airport was perfect. We were in awe the moment we check in. We opted for the Tongging deluxe double room and it was well worth every cent even though other places would cost us only a fraction of it. The view from the resort and especially our room was simply breathtaking! This was the first time in years that we actually took the trouble to wake up at 5am to watch the sunset from our ro...

Samosir Cottages was the best hotel we stayed during our 2 week holidays in North Sumatera. we really had the best experience there. The hotel was modern, clean with good facilities such as 2 nice and clean swimming pools with gorgeous view over lake Toba, big, nice restaurant, nice comfortable terraces to enjoy the beauty of Lake Toba, table tennis. We could also enjoy...

We love the Grand Serela. Awesome facility and staff always remember us and very helpful and friendly. However, this time there were two disappointing things. First, for the two days our shower were always cold. Next, north Sumatra has been plagued for over a month with smoke from farmers and forest fires. Unfortunately, the huge lobby was FULL of more cigarette smoke...

Sinabung Hills is a really majestically located resort ! High mountains, crisp air and stunning views ! Although the furniture is old and the rooms need a facelift, telltale renovation works are being carried out in stages. It is really a pristine location, very near (15km) to not one but two fairly active volcaones ! Mount Sibayak (2051 metres) and the more ominous Mo...

Exceptional customer service the staff we amazing and went above and beyond for us. Definitely will stay there again. Thank you so much. We stay in medan alot and fave hotel staff are the best we have come across. Thank you so much. The rooms were comfortable and cute. Love the big shower head....definitely recommend it to family and friends. See you again soon

I went there with my family (incl. my 2 years old niece) and stayed for a night after we were very exhausted from our road trip in Sumatera. This hotel was a good decision because we needed a quality sleep. Also I got this on price discount so it made it more affordable yet I can still enjoy the excellent room (5-star quality) and the surrounding attractions.

I just stay one night in this hotel. This hotel is cozy. Near with restaurant. If you want to buy a mineral water or maybe snack, you just need to go to the Macan mini market in the first floor. The room is clean and the layout is very interesting. The location is in the center of medan city. If you want to go to the Merdeka Walk, you've just need walk 1.5 km to the no...

This hotel provides a really good fascilities, close to tourist attractions. Standing next to Toba Lake, it provides motorboats and other fascilities (with additional fees ofc) to help guests enjoying their stay even more. The only cons is the breakfast menu is slightly cold (considering i went to the restaurant quite early in the morning) and i suggest to add more of ...

The staff are friendly and always ready with a smile. The breakfast buffet is tasty and there's a variety of food to choose from. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, though some rooms do not have a place to hang your clothes or have a Safety Box (I think its because the rooms that we booked were adjoining rooms). The hotel is almost an hour away from KNO...

Great staff with good location. Ms Vio is an excellent staff Unfortunately, my booking with agoda supposed to be under Royal Deluxe was wrongly booked by Agoda's Partner under standard room. Made DPrima hotel as a base since we were going around North Sumatera. Hotel was decent, value for money, clean, located on top of train station ( although no trains running at night, so had a good night's sleep), bfast was coffee and croissants from starbucks (since there is no hotel restaurant) - no complaints there, lots of food in Medan. Airport train directly to...

Staff are friendly and courteous. Room Service (Food) are ok. Taste be improved- best is to have a unique/ speciality dish to represent the hotel. Rooms are big and spacious. However the items in the rooms are abit inconsistent. We had two of the same room; Room A- had electic kettle for hot water, two mugs and a chair for the working table. Room B- the plug was not wo...

We stayed in 3-room apartment suites. Feel like at home after a week of touring North Sumatera. The building is not new but it is clean and has good quality apartment. Swimming pool is a bit dirty but okay for morning exercise. The location is in city center so it is convenient to go anywhere.

Huge room for 4 persons. 2 extra beds for my daughters. Really damn beautiful scenery from our room. Plus! Dendi is the best receptionist and able to speak fluent English too.. even I can understand Indonesian language but feel great when talked with Dendi in English. He helped us a lot. Booked for us speed boat to Parapat when normal boat not available in 6.45am early...

We went to the hotel to check-in at 3PM yet they still asked us to wait for another 30-45 mins cause our room wasn't ready. That's not too good when you're having a toddler travelling with you. When we were having breakfast the nex day, the queue was so long and the restaurant was too small. The varieties and the tase of the food were not satisfying. When I asked them...

a stylish & clean hotel with friendly and helpful service. the staff are trying their best to be helpful but unfortunately they can't provide much info we need regard places nearby which we're interested to visit. Cheap places to stay in North Sumatera

The owner and her children were so lovely and helpful, rooms are clean and cool and there are loads of added extras like free water, tea, maps etc. It's a short walk to an Indomart and plenty of warungs, and they offer cheap car services to the airport etc too. Would definitely recommend staying here for a stopover in Medan.

We booked one night here intending to move straight on to Bukit Lawang, but despite arriving late in the evening we were bowled over by the friendliness of the people in Medan, the hotel staff being no exception. So we stayed two nights and saw some of the city. The hotel is clean and modern. The location is good for walking to some tourist sites and also the mall. Th...

Room was small, but very clean. We stayed here after our horrible stay at Hotel Polonia. This was so much better by comparison and so much cheaper. We also didn't have hot water in the shower in our room, but the shared shower did so it was ok. The location is a bit far out, but totally fine to take a Go-Jek for cheap and get to where you need to go. They also have a ...

Hostel is very new, very clean, and has very nice interior design. Staff and owners of hostel are super friendly!! I received an email through Agoda from the property owner about my booking and Itold them that we will arrived a bit late (1130 pm). But when I want to check in, the receptionist said the booking was cancelled. I was more dissatisfied and disappointed when there is only one room with a single bed available cost 80000 rupiah(printed on their phamplet on the reception t...

We had an awesome experience at this place. The staff was super friendly, the food was AMAZING, the rooms were clean, they let you rent motorbikes and have free kayaks too. Oh and the restaurant is amazing. Best food we had in 6 weeks of backpacking through SEA. So happy I booked this, and for a good deal on Agoda. Loved Lake Toba and especially loved Romlan. Downside...

One of the best budget hotels I’ve stayed in on the island. Sumatra standards are pretty low in terms of budget hotels, so this one really stands out. Pretty clean, friendly staff, comfy bed, no bad surprise. Only problem is in some rooms on top floor you can hear the water pomp, can be annoying a little. On second stay they give me a room without that noise, I was sup...

This is the only hotel in rantauprapat that allows online booking, although they'll have to call you to confirm the booking. Location is good and the best thing I feel about this hotel is the staffs - friendly and very polite. Hotel is decent although it's a bit old, good value for money.

I stay here around 2 months ago, the hotel is old i think from the building and very gloomy or something like that. Room is so so. Not good and not bad. But this hotel only 1minute from nearest food market ( I dunno how to say it ) hahahaha but there are many many choices of food there.

The hotel is a bit far from the town center and the room was nice but not spacious, the roomrate comes with a simple set breakfast which is reasonable and tasty but i hope they will give an option either coffee or tea as they were only provide us tea. The staff also was very nice, helpful and friendly. This hotel also quite comfortable for a short stay, and for me ever...

The room was a bit tiny for 2 people, so make sure you don't bring a really large luggage. But, after all the hotel gave you facilities like the other 3 stars hotel. Clean room, really value for money, even gave you a simple breakfast, mineral water etc. And the most important thing was FREE shuttle bus to and from airport ! Thank you The Lively Hotel. I'll come again ...

Good simple clean place. Nice breakfast. But the staff i encountered didn’t speak English well. They lacked essential information about getting to one of the biggest destinations from Medan. This resulted in me rushing. Spending more money than i should have. And not having what i needed for a long trip. I hope they will work on this

So here are my quick and simple review. Pros : This hotel is very cheap and have a great facilities. Clean room and toilet but a small bad. If you take the cheapest room you will only get a small bad that only for one people. You will get a simple menu for your breakfast but still have a good taste so it's great. Cons : The location is near middle of Medan city but be...

My friend & I stayed at room with attached bathroom for 1 night. The room is very small & compact, and for the toilet, I would say it could comfortably fit those with small to medium size because the space is very compact. Those in larger size might be a bit uncomfortable to use the toilet due to its size & limited space. The room is clean and equipped with good wifi c...

No hot water no TV No shower nozzle but a basin of water that can be used for The job. Also the toilet doesn't flush so need to use the bucket to do the job. Still better than camping but not comfy for a western backpackers. The staff speak almost no English but will try to help. Mostly local only but the view was the best and the rate was low so I can't complain too m...

The staff here are friendly and speak good English. Rooms are compact but comfortable. I really liked the design of the room. Great budget hotel and close to the Bukit Lawang bus link. The owner even arranged a free lift to get the bus. No fuss and a nice lazy midday check out time.

We arrived at the hotel after a frustrating experience with our flights and taxi drivers refusing to take us such a short distance and not in the best of moods. Familiarize yourself with local emergency numbers and have a plan in place for any unforeseen circumstances.
