Friendly staff, fantastic atmosphere, great value for money. Would definitely stay again. Top class.”
Free upgrade to King deluxe room was a nice surprise, staff couldn't do enough, was by far the best experience we had in any of the hotels we stayed in over the weekend.

Clean”
We loved the Staff and restaurant. The food was spectacular and the room was small, clean, and a bit dated. Overall we are happy we picked this hotel for our stay.

A superb & luxurious place to stay in Ennis”
From the moment I stepped foot into this old manor house 'The Old Ground Hotel'I was very impressed with the immediate attention and warm welcome I received from the friendly staff. They attended to our needs with professional efficiency. I was allotted to room 224.A King Deluxe Room I had reserved along with another mid 2012. Well, I could not have asked for, or expected anything more. The furnishings and layout was perfect. The bathroom, spacious and elegant. All ones requirements were on hand. The King size bed was comfortable. I slept like a log in it! Two televisions:- One on the desk in the lounge, the other facing the bed. Room 228, a King Deluxe room too I had also booked last year for my two friends traveling with me, were just as impressed as myself. Both rooms, 224 & 228 were spotlessly clean and tidy. The room service was excellent. What can one say about the bar? The furnishings and portraits portrayed an atmosphere of times well in the past. Here, we received Irish hospitality at it's best. The service behind the bar was second to none, even though at times it was very crowded, especially when we were entertained by a local band playing traditional Irish music. Having breakfast in the downstairs restaurant was very convenient to start the day. A wide variety of food was available to ensure all tastes were catered for. I recommend a full Irish breakfast. I tasted black pudding for the very first time, absolutely scrumptious! As for having a meal in the evening:- A fair variant of inviting dishes were on the menu. To cut a long story short:- I found this luxury hotel an ideal place to stay in Ennis. Our hired vehicle from Shannon Airport, was quite easy, most of the time, to find a spot in the car park. I am looking forward to paying another visit to Ennis in May 2014 Without question, I will be requesting Room 224 & 228 once again. A very satisfied and contented guest indeed. Very pleased!”
Requested a standard room with two beds -picture showed full and twin but we actually got two queens. Had to lug suitcases up a bit of stairs - not bad - about 5 steps and then down into the older part of the hotel. Room was clean and very large - lots of space. Large wardrobe that lit up inside - had space to put a suitcase in and hang clothes . There was a cute little alcove near window with a built in seating area and small table. Coffee, biscuits etc. were available. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was large but older, had a bit old and peeling caulking around tub area. Orla Kiely soaps/shampoos avail. Everything was good except the tv - small tv up in a corner of the room and could only get a few fuzzy channels. Picture and sound was not good at all. View out the window was of delivery area and bins. We were too tired to watch tv /gaze out of windows so that wasn't a huge deal. Overall, nice hotel - great, friendly service, beautiful grounds out front.

Holiday break”
It was a very pleasurable experience . The hospitality was tremendous, customer care seemed to be second nature to each and every member of staff we encountered. The food was excellent as was the choice, there was something for all taste. Our room was beautiful, very comfortable with a huge very clean bathroom. This hotel has very high standards and the whole team works hard to maintain and probably exceed them. Only one downside, having stayed in The Old Ground, I have. Been spoilt and know I will find it difficult to stay any where else on our return visit.

Lovely old style country hotel”
Loved my stay at this hotel. Hated my experience with agoda as they promised to match a cheaper price. Yet they send you a complicated form to fill out a 2mb size for images which the iPhone was 2.5mb images and so in the end the agoda price was €108 while if I had booked directly with the hotel it was €80. For me AGODA is a terrible rip off website. Anything is better than this website. They do everything to avoid paying the difference even though they state that if you can find a cheaper price they will match it but they put you through the ringer for it. It was so complicated, that I ended not bothering just blocking agoda as web entity for booking hotels in the future.

Yes, but...”
Probably our most romantic & charming 2 night stop of 2 weeks along the Wild Atlantic Way; but, people, plueeasse, please, upgrade the internet, essentially unusable, and dont even think of letting them stick you in one of their 'superior' rooms on ground floor, garden level really, looking direct into the car park. We ask for better room, and were lucky to get us up on 4th floor oversized room. Best bathroom too of our 2 weeks. Tip - take your tea or Guiness out to the garden. It's lovely.

good place to rest after landing at shannon airpor”
delightful small old hotel - staff happily honored our request for a QUIET room comfortable bed (beds in ireland tend to be very firm but my husband and i prefer that) very cozy and charming - old stonework and architecture

Not for the young”
While we can’t fault the hotel itself - it was spacious, interesting, and comfortable - we definitely couldn’t say our stay was *great*. Booked two rooms for our group of three young adults, both of which offered truly grim views of a murky rooftop out back. Decor pretty dated, grandma-ish; in fact, there didn’t seem to be anyone within striking distance of age 30 around. Mainly booked for the Poet’s Corner bar as we wanted a chilled out place to ring in the new year but walked in at 20 to midnight to find a full-on cheesy disco raging (complete with flashy lighting, an overly loud emcee and bad music) and - again - no one in our age group to be seen. We ended up toasting to the new year quite awkwardly in the lobby instead. In all, it’s nice. If you’re 50+.
