We’ll, I’ll tell you of our experience and let you decide. First to say, when we travel Internationally, we always stay at all-inclusive resorts. So, this review comes as a comparison to others we’ve stayed. Food was ok, maybe a 3 out of 5. Bed was very comfortable, but we had 2 doubles, not a queen. Our first night there, some guest who sounded like they had too much to drink, were loud and possibly lost. They tried getting into our main door and sliding glass door. The phone in our room didn’t work so we could call security. My husband was dealing with it from 1:30 to 3:30 AM. Our last 2 nights there, no hot water. We like to drink a sparkling white wine on vacation breakfasts and lunch but the rarely had it. Beach bar tan out of limes and mint. They did t seemed organized or stocked. Excursions were fun, a little pricey. Hard to be too pessimistic because we were on vacation in Costa Rica. I’d like to go back sometime but I would try another resort.

We are very pleased to read your complete satisfaction with the comfort of the bed we. We regret your disappointment for not being able to provide you with a proper Queen bed during your stay, when we can we always try to make special wishes come true when they make us special requests. Unfortunately, due to high occupancy, it was not possible for us to change the room for one with a queen bed. Thank you once again for making us your choice hotel.

This place has so much going for it. The property is beautiful! However, not very accommodating at all. Our group arrived just before 6. The pool closes at 7 pm, so we jumped in for a quick swim before the end of the day. However, pool towels are no longer given out after 5 pm. We asked at the front desk, but were told it was impossible to get a towel. The hot tub was cold. We booked a 2 night stay. Apparently you must book 3 nights in order to eat at one of the specialty restaurants. (Even if we had booked 3 nights, you can only eat at one of the specialty restaurants once for every 3 days you are there) What? Food can not be eaten at the pool, and they will not let you leave the dining area, even with chips and guac. The ocean was calm as can be during the day, but we were told the sea was “too aggressive” to check out a kayak. Most of the employees were merely the messengers for the stupid policies in place, but the front desk people were fairly cold and not at all empathetic. The food-not good. Breakfast was the most successful of the meals. I think that the management of this property doesn’t realize how far a bit of going out of their way can go! Too bad. Won’t be recommending this property.

Decent stay”
Decent resort, nice pool, beach area is cool. Prepare for walking up and down hills and stairs on property. Gym is old but has cpl working treadmills decent set of free weights, smith machine. Theres no shopping or anything nearby so must pay to go off property by taxi and excursions are expensive. I suggest taking the 2 hr jet ski tour with the guys at the beach area, youll see some beautiful islands, and several other sites. Omelets at Breakfast were best and the Italian restaurant was awesome.

We loved our time at this resort. We were a little skeptical going in because we read some bad reviews on other websites regarding the quality and variety of the food, and comparisons by those reviewers to other resorts. This was our first all-inclusive resort, and we loved it. I'm a very picky eater with some dietary restrictions and I always found plenty to eat. The drinks were great and kept on coming. The biggest standout of this place was the staff. We spent 16 days in Costa Rica, at nice but modest hotels with great reviews before ending up at the resort. We met a lot of very serious and disinterested receptionists and servers in restaurants, but the staff at Occidental Papagayo was truly outstanding. Every person we spoke to, from the servers to the bartenders to the folks who hand out towels at the pool, was incredibly kind and attentive. Would love to come back here and highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful location!!!! Unfortunately the staff ruined it for me & my friend. We arrived early & had informed via email months prior because of our scheduling & still we waited nearly 3 hours to get into our room. There wasn’t an urgency to get accommodations available. Once our room was ready, they just handed us the key & left us to figure it out, which OF COURSE brought me back to guest services to ask, so frustrating. We had a lot of questions regarding the facilities that should’ve been answered at check in (ie: where we go for the all inclusive breakfast/lunch/dinner). Our room was beautiful!! However, somehow our bathroom was a moth & bug collector. Our water pressure was not good & I never got to enjoy a hot shower. We had access to the mini fridge which was in a conjoining living room, but none of the lights worked in there nor the tv, we called 2 times to make sure we DID, in fact have access, the staff said, “let me check & I’ll call you back.” They never did.

This is a great option to just do nothing. The place is very quiet and there are not too many activities. They have an agenda, but the activities are not tiring. The view and facilities are nice. The Hotel beach is very small, but the view is quiet an nice. As you can see the best word that fits to this place is: QUIET/CHILL/REST. I highly recommend the Spa. They have great skills with the massages.

Lovely food and a la carte. Loud music around both pools swim up pool not relaxing encouraged loud raucous behaviour including bad language. Smoking also not restricted to smoking areas vaping in pool.

One of the best places we have stayed at so far. The people were friendly, helpful, food great and good location. My only complaint is that I would have like access to coffee earlier in the morning besides just what we had available in our room.

In der Esten Woche ging ein Trinkglas kaputt. Einen Teil der Scherben blieben unter dem Bett, bis wir nach 3 Wochen auschecken. Handtücher wurden auch auf Anfrage nicht bereit gestellt. Ebenfalls auf mehrere Anfragen, keine Bademäntel. Sauberkeit Bad und Dusche ebenfalls ungenügend. Die Miniaturen wurde nur sporadisch aufgefüllt. Einmal Essen aufs Zimmer war ebenfalls eine Katastrophe. Über eine Stunde Wartezeit und es konnte nicht von der Karte bestellt werden. Die Zimmerkarten funktionierten mehrmals täglich nicht und jedesmal mussten diese an der Rezeption erneut programmiert werden. Restaurant- Service und Personal eine Zumutung, obwohl etliche Tische frei waren mussten wir jeweils 15-30 Minuten warten bis wir platziert wurden. Das Essen im Asia-Restaurant war ungeniessbar. Das Buffet-Essen langweilig und der grösste Teil des Personals unfreundlich und unmotiviert. Preis-Leistung absolut enttäuschend. Transfers Flughafen-Hotel nicht inbegriffen, zusätzliche Kosten 60 Dollar für 20 Minuten Fahrt.
