Perfect hideaway with spectacular views”

We stayed at Melanting Cottages six years ago, while visiting Munduk for the forst time. We've returned to spend there four nights. The cottage is built in a traditional Bali style, with a grass roof and beautifully carved dark wood. The bed is not only decorative, but very comfortable. The mosquitiere over the bed protects well from the occassional mosquito, while giving a peace of mind while asleep near the rain forest. The terrace allows you ro sit for hours, watching the most beautiful view, stretching for miles to the lakes, or the distant fireworks of storms passing in the distance over west Bali. The restaurant is new and whilst offering splendid views also serves adequate meals (which you can order to your room at mo extra charge). The breakfast offers a choice of eggs, fruit, toast and Bali food. The coffee is excellent (ask for extra milk as coffee in Bali is usually served black). Stay away from pancakes on the breakfast menu - they are thick and tough as kautschuk. The massages are cheap and good 100,000 for an hour, in the privacy of your room. Order at the front desk. Melanting cottages are the perfect starting point for the waterfall trails and other trecks, like walking through the rice terraces and the pretty villages in the vicinity. Very recommended. The whole place is set back from the main road, so the traffic sounds don't spoil the feeling of being in a real nature. The staff are very friendly and helpful in catering to the guests needs. If you are afraid of Geckos or get squimish because of a trail of harmless black ants in the bathroom (wash them away with the shower spray if theyre in the way) then choose the Hilton in Denpassar instead. If you like beautiful nature and dont carry a Baygon in your handbag - come to Melanting Cottages and enjoy every moment of your stay. Bear in mind this is a 2-3 start place with a corresponding price and not a 5 star resort. We love it. There is an infinity pool, which opens in high season.

Beautiful hotel”

We stayed in Melanting Cottages Munduk with my wife for just three nights. We had a very nice time in Munduk. The trekking was perfect and the hotel guide was very helpful. The hotel itself is very nice and the only thing that was not very pleasant is the open shower for it is quite cold in the evenings. If you need anything like an extra blanket, it is easy to get at the reception for free. The breakfasts were not perfect but good enough to feel fine on a 4 hour trekking tour. It was quite noisy in the mornings with lots of dogs and birds around but I guess that is a problem for all hotels In Munduk.

Great location, friendly and helpful staff”

A lovely place, we will definitely be back! We stayed two nights at Melanting Cottages Munduk and we loved it from the first moment. The cottages are set in wonderful surroundings, we loved to have an afternoon coffee on our balcony and to have a look over the valley. The kids loved the short trip to the waterfall which is about 15 minutes from the cottages. The whole place is spotless clean and the staff are lovely! Thank you very much, we are looking forward to coming back!

A delightful mountain retreat”

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Melanting Cottages. My own private traditional Balinese cottage came with a great size balcony. A gigantic canopied bed and an open-air bathroom so you can shower right next to your own private little garden were delightful details too. Take the Melanting waterfall track to see the tallest waterfall in Bali which is just magnificent. The restaurant isn't the cheapest, but it makes up for that with exceptional quality, taste and presentation. A perfect getaway for peace and tranquility. I loved it.

The most spectacular place to stay in Bali”

This was one of the most extraordinary experiences I've had in terms of accommodation, anywhere in the world. Bungalows overlooking the mountains and mists and distant lake. The craftsmanship of the bungalows was from a lost era. The staff were courteous and we also ate the best meal in Indonesia staying at Melanting Cottages. It was so good I almost don't want to recommend it to fellow travellers, but I would be doing the Melanting business a disfavour if I didn't.

Cottages in the middle of a lush forest”

This place is set right in the mountains and benefits from incredible views and direct access to the waterfalls walks. Very peaceful hotel. Our cottage was large and quite basic but still very enjoyable. The prívate terrace is perfect to read and enjoy the sunset. The brand new restaurant made of recycled wood is elegant and confortable with nice wooden furniture. They are about to open brand new cottages with very good standards, nice decoration and a lovely pool. It's very promising. Putu, Karek and the team are caring for your comfort. Lucie and Stephanie

Everything is good. Room, bathroom, bathtub, all facilities, balcony, swing, the view, restaurant, the food, breakfast, dinner, the service all in this Cottages are very nice I recommend you to make a reservation in this cottages.

Great view, ok rooms”

We were hotel during reconstruction and the way to our cottage was not really nice. But the sunset view was really great.

wrong google map locaction ,”

hotel is near to Puri Lumbang bout 3 mins drive. If you are on uphill drive , you might miss the resort . Both agoda and google map was wrong location shown was 5km away from actual map. otherwise , resort is nice.. nothing much to do ..no swimming pool but somw good tv news channel for Asian country. Best to have own transport to be there.

Good location but disappointing stay”

Our stay was ok. The place is Nice but looks not well managed. The family room had a lovely view, unfortunately a lot of rénovations works around. The staff was friendly, but at The réception we could expect to have someone able to speak english and give informations. We are a French family and luckily m'y husband and I we speak basic bahasa Indonésia. At The end we have been happy with our guide and The trekking organised. Breakfast was very poor....The first day, i asked an orange juice for my son as hé doesn t drink any coffee....they didn t offered The fruits as written in The menu. And The orange juive was not good. The dinner is a joke, a very poor menu and at The end, half of The dishes are not available. Rooms were well mainained, modern bathrooms ( ask to see your room first). So for me this place is overpriced....it is a pity, it could be much better as The location is very good!

nice resort but no hot water”

the resort was a nice stay as I have been here but hot water was not working.. although it is working but water is too cold for bath. some construction is going on so noise level Is high is your stay directly infront of the construction area. a lot of insect in the night.. my kids so scare hiding behind the mosquitoes net. anyway it is a nice and cooling place to be. own transport prefer as near to nowhere.

Certes superbe vue sur la vallée et personnel assez sympathique... Mais sinon logement vétuste, pas de vitres y compris dans la douche donc on a froid et surtout c'est affreusement sale : moustiquaire immonde, chaussettes pas à nous par terre, linge de toilette dégoûtant, toiles d'araignées partout...

Rapport qualité prix horrible pour Bali Pas de TV, de clim ni de frigo Hotel en cours de construction mais l'existant à deja trop vieilli Pas de vitre sur aucune fenêtre (chambre delux) Et surtout restauration pauvre et hors de prix !!! Par contre superbe vue, emplacement au calme et l'excursion proposée était géniale !

Un agréable séjour que nous aurions aimé plus long si nous n'étions attendus. La vue sur la jungle du balcon de ces chambres sur pilotis restera gravé dans nos mémoires. En bonus, le couché de soleil !
