Excellent hotel of a very high standard”

The Mandarin Oriental Tokyo is a hotel which we stayed for three nights. It is a hotel of a very high standard, at a good location in Central Tokyo. I would choose to stay there next time I visit Tokyo.

Worth every penny ”

MO did not disappoint. All the staff were professional. Great location, on top of subway Ginza line. Price is not too high either. I just wish we had money to stay for a month lol.

A bit overrated ”

The fact that some luxury hotels still think it’s okay to charge for internet is ridiculous. We booked our stay rather last minute so when we were showed up our room wasn’t ready for early check-in (understandable of course). There was another room that was seemingly indistinguishable from the one that we booked that was available and it was $90 US more per night. Instead of just upgrading us as most courteous hotels would, they offered to sell us the upgrade; so after already paying $1200 a night, we were sold a room that was ready on time and then sold wifi. It did not feel like a nice welcome at all. That said, the concierge staff was excellent. They helped us nab several sought-after reservations. The hotel lobby was beautiful and awesome. The room was very standard.

Dear Mr. Robb Thank you for your valuable feedback. We apologize for any confusion or frustration caused by the impression that our offer to sell an upgrade was intentional. While your originally booked room was still being cleaned, we strive to provide our guests with the best possible experience, and there may be instances where we need to offer alternative accommodations. Please know that it was not our intention to mislead our guests, and we regret any confusion that may have arisen. We also apologize for any inconvenience caused by our failure to explain the benefits of the Fans of M.O. program during check-in, which offers free wifi and exclusive members-only offers. We recognize that these incidents could have been avoided with better communication and orientation, and we offer our sincere apologies. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly for any future stays in Tokyo. We hope to welcome you back to Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo. Niko Penttinen Director of Rooms
