Hotels near Otsuka Train Station

This hotel is amazing to me. Very close to central of Ikebkuro(2mins walking ). Bus limousine from H/N airport pickUp/drop off right infront of hotel( which very convinence for one who have kids or a lots of luggage) . Main train station only 5mins walking and the other train line right underground of the hotel . Food court right on top of hotel ( trading hr about 11am-10pm) . Many nice other restaurants surround. But need to keep in mind the short cut path way to central of Ikebkuro will be close after 10 or 11pm . So you need to walk a bit further to hotel . It took me 30 mins to work out how to get back to the hotel at the 1st night but don’t worry Google map will be your best friend . All the staffs are very nice especially a guy who work at holding luggage next to reception. I don’t think he is Japanese but spoken very well in Japanese and English . He is very helpful , anything not sure just ask him. The room is very clean, new , decently tiny but reasonable price.

I decided to stay at the Metropolitan after reading positive reviews about it online. Having never visited Japan before, and listening to personal accounts of friends who have been about the tiny rooms and complicated train network, I was a bit apprehensive about the trip, especially traveling with a teenager and 2 hyperactive kids. However, my worries were proven unfounded as the hotel turned out exactly as the pictures and description said it was going to be. Getting there was a breeze from Narita as the Airport Limousine makes a stop right at the hotel entrance. Check in was also very fast and when we got to the rooms, I was really happy to see that it more than fit the 4 of us along with our 5 luggage bags with still enough room for us to maneuver. Ikebukuro turned out to be a cosy place that isn't as crowded as the rest of Tokyo and the train station was a hop, skip and jump away. Literally. We could get to anywhere in Tokyo very conveniently indeed. The best part about the hotel is that almost every staff member we met spoke excellent English and they were willing to go the extra mile to accommodate our requests. 10 days passed by so quickly, we wished that we could stay longer. Considering the price of hotel rooms in Tokyo, the Metropolitan is a bargain for the size, luxury, thoughtfulness of staff members and service. I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit Tokyo which, hopefully, is in the very near future. All because of the wonderful experience we had there. If I had to make a complaint, it would be that there should be more sofas in the lobby for people to sit on, but that's just being too picky.

Location - Quite conveniently located. Near to Ikebukuro train station with some nearby eateries and a 7-11 at ground level. There are also various shopping areas nearby, some walking is required. Staff - Polite, friendly and helpful Room - Two single bed with a single seater sofa. A LCD, probably, 50 inch wall mounted which is surprising for me. A mini fridge and humidifier below the dressing desk that comes with a stool. Bathtub in the bath room which is also surprising for me. Cosy, neat and tidy. Overall - Best ever stay in Japan, Tokyo. 2 thumbs up!

My wife and I stayed here for 6 days! The hotel was in a great location to explore around Tokyo. A bit outdated, but the staff have excellent customer service. The room was a bit small, but it’s no surprise in Japan. They hotel provided great amenities and were very helpful. The only problem I had with the hotel was the bed. It was very hard, one of the worst beds I slept in at a hotel. It was very uncomfortable to sleep in after a long day sightseeing and walking around in Tokyo. I even asked the front desk for an extra blanket to use as a mattress pad, but it wasn’t enough. Hopefully the staff realizes this issue and can correct it. Overall, it was a great location for the price, they had free WiFi in the room and bring amenities and clean towels daily. They used economy cleaning, which they came in to clean the room one day out of my entire stay. It didn’t bother us, but just a heads up for future guests. In close proximity to Ikebukuro train station, restaurants, shops, and Sunshine City Mall.

I stayed here with a friend over the course of 9 nights and it was fantastic! (2 rooms; we weren't sharing.) I liked the free breakfast on the days I didn't have to rush out early and the amenities for female travelers nightly were surprisingly legit as well. I also liked how the beds were true double beds as opposed to the rubbish semi-double beds you usually get with hotels on a budget, so even if you do share the room it's still okay. Only the bathroom is a tad small so if you're taller or larger than the average Asian female, it might be a bit inconvenient. For proximity to the train station it's also okay, but it is located on the flip side of Ikebukuro away from all the fun stuff around Otome Road and Sunshine, etc. In general though, an A+ for Super Hotel!

The location is very good, just next to the JR train station. We rented at very low price, it probably because lesser Hong kong people go travel recently. Also, i like their room soundproof, even though the hotel is next to the train station, the room is quiet. We didnt request the room cleaning service every day and they still leave the clean towel inside a plastic bag outside our room. The check out and check in procedure are very quick. just one problem, the quilt is quite thick and it is summer so if we use the quite, we feel so hot. and if we dont use any quite, i am not quite get use to it.

This hotel locates near JR Otsuka station which is only 5 minutes walk from the station. Reasonable price with such good location and nice and tidy room, it is certainly a hotel value-for-money. If you go from JR Otsuka stattion, there is a steep slope on the way heading for the hotel. For girls with builky and heavy luggages may found it devastating to walk up that "hill". You may of course wait in from of the station and wait for the tram. It takes only 3 minutes for the tram to get from JR Otsuka Station to the next stop which is nearest to the hotel. Then it takes only less than 1 minute walk from the stop to the hotel. Keep in mind that the waiting time for the tram could be long and the last tram would be around 8pm. Not a good choice if in a rush. Another choice to get to the hotel would be from JR Ikebukuro Station, Higashi-exit. Though it would take around 15 minutes walk, you will pass through the renowned Sunshine-Dori and loads of other shops along by. The reception of the hotel is located on the 1/F and you will need to waslk up a stairs from the ground floor. A lift could take you up from the ground floor to all other floors of the hotel. However, the operating time of the lift has been 0800 - 2200. For all other time, you will have to walk up and down the stairs. Some of the room amenities are available at the Hotel Lobby. You may take from the Lobby for what you need for free. Some of the amenities are charged. If you are staying here for more than 1 night and you have not bring your own towels, you may take from the Lobby as well. But you will have to take it as soon as possible since its limited in supply and they would not refill the basket if all towels are taken. This hotel will charge for cleaning service if you would like their cleaning staff to tidy up your room. I would recommend this hotel for short stay.

Checking in was fast and easy. The room was quite small. The bed was big and very comfortable, the best thing about the room. Window gave a view of the surrounding area's building tops. The hotel is no more than 10 minutes walk (depending how fast or slow your pace is) to the Yamanote JR line which takes you around Tokyo city. Around the hotel area are lots of different cafes and restaurants offering different food choices; fast food, local food, simple, DIY (ala BBQ), bars (saw a couple Jazz bars). Ikebukuro is also a big shopping district. Going to the opposite side of the Ikebukuro train station, you can go to the shopping district where you'll find lots of stuff, mostly teenagers/young adult interests like shoes, clothing, video arcades, a movie theatre. Would recommend staying here for a few nights to explore the area.

WOW. There’s literally nothing I don’t like about this hotel. The room was spotless but extremely small like all Japanese hotel which I totally don’t find it as an issue as I am a petite Asian. It’s around 5-10mins walk from Ikebukuro station, with a Family Mart <1min walk away. However, the stretch of road from the train station exit to the hotel seems to be an “entertainment” street but it doesn’t bother me much, in fact, I find it interesting and didn’t felt unsafe walking at night. Ikebukuro is very conveniently located, with direct train (Narita Express) from airport. To be honest, I booked a hotel in Ikebukuro because hotels in Shinjuku & Shibuya are so overpriced but I ended up preferring Ikebukuro over Shinjuku & Shibuya as it is less crowded and has plenty of cafes, restaurants and shopping places as well. All ladies get to choose 5 items (lotion sachets, shower cap, nail file etc) for free at the reception daily which is a very nice touch, I posted on my IG story and got quite a few PMs from ladies asking me for the hotel’s name. I LOVEEEE the onsen so much that I went there to shower and soak daily instead of using the bathroom in my hotel room. Highly recommend big sized individuals who find the bathroom in hotel room too small to go to the onsen to shower instead if you don’t mind being naked in front of others. The breakfast was free for all guest and it was super delicious!!! Huge variety and tasted so healthy yet delicious! The hotel uses ionic water, which is supposed to be healthier? Bring a water bottle with you as the hotel provides water cooler. Also, if you opt out of the room cleaning service, towels will still be provided daily (they hang outside the door) & they will reward you with free bottled water. This hotel practise no check out at the reception so you can just leave the room and you’re “checked out”. I rarely dedicate so much of my time to type such a long review but this hotel is so worth it! Highly recommend to anyone visiting

The first thing that prompted me to book this hotel is definitely the washing and drying machine. However, keep in mind, it will usually take at least 3 hours to complete the whole cycle! First pack of laundry soap is free, but then you have to buy it for only 30 yen!!! The room itself is not spacious, but it is pretty new. However, the bathroom is much bigger than most business hotel with a huge tub as well. One thing to keep in mind, there is no room service for 6 days or less, but the cleaning stuff will change your garbage and linens. Again, I'm not a messy person, so it wasn't a big deal. Plus, I never understand people who treat the hotel room as a garbage dump. One thing I find it irritating is the air-conditioner's light really disturbs my sleep because it's so bright, but I don't think there's anything I could do about that except turn the air-con off. Also, the hotel does not provide cups for tea etc. It would be nice to at least have a cup for the tea packs near the electric kettle and microwave. The hotel's security is really top-notched. You need a key card in order to go into the elevator and up to your floor. The location is perfect as it is in the heart of Ikebukuro and is near the JR train station. As many of you have pointed out, take the West C6 exit, then turn left on the main street once you are up the escalator until you see a 7-11, then turn left again and you'll see it on your right pretty soon. There are many restaurants open at night near the area as well. The staff is attentive and speaks pretty well English (although I've also used my minimum Japanese as well). One girl in glasses tried to help me about delivering my luggage to Narita Airport. If the price is right again, I will definitely book this hotel. Overall: 9/10

Good location. Near to Convenient store. Restaurant everywhere. Near Ikebukuro train station and especially the Sunshine hotel where buses from Narita Airport drop off passengers to Ikebukuro and pick up passengers going back to airport. Very polite staff. And very helpful. Our room is at the 15th floor we don’t have air conditioning. It’s hot even we opened the window it’s still hot. Maybe next time i will choose an air conditioned room. I thought all hotels have aircon 🥴. I washed my clothes in the washing mashine and it’s ok but when i put my clothes to the dryer it took me An hours and a half but still not fully dried. Maybe the filter’s clogged up. Not sure. I recommend this hotel 👍🏻

having stayed at hotel changtee for 6 days, i love it there. if you are looking for a simple, no frills and clean hotel, i would recommend hotel changtee. although the rooms are small, it is sufficient for a solo traveler. there is a little pantry and kitchen which are open for guests' use. love - free wifi, near ikebukuro station, tobu, seibu, big camera, marui city, parco, tokyu hands, sunshine city dori, etc. i also recommend the matsumoto kiyoshi for things like health supplements, snacks, heat packs, cosmetics, etc. ikebukuro station is on the jr yamanote line and it is also a major train exchange station. a great base for exploring tokyo or even its outskirts. from haneda airport, it is better to go via the hamamatsucho station rather than shinagawa station. enjoy your stay.

This hotel is similar to budget hotel; so by that you will get what you pay for. The main reason that I select this hotel is the price offered is great. The hotel is located in Ikebukuro which has one of the main train station in Tokyo, where it is easier for you to go anywhere by train (Shinkansen, JR, Narita Express, etc.). The hotel is located about 10-15 minutes walk from the train station (West Exit). The hotel room is a bit small but good enough for us but I think if you are a little large in size, you might find it a bit uncomfortable. The wifi in the room is a bit slow and during peak hours, almost impossible to connect. To sum it up, I really satisfy with the hotel with what I paid for it.

The main reason I chose this hotel, was because it was 2 minutes away on foot from the place of my main business this time. Turned out that it was close to everything else as well; a big train station, restaurants and attractions, shopping, etc. The room was small, but had all the proper amenities. I was quite impressed with yhe staff members. Not all of them spoke or undertood English very well (and my Japanese is really just basic), but somehow they have managed to help me with what I need every single time, and were always nice, polite and attentive. My next stay in Tokyo will be at this hotel again, even if the business is not in Ikebukuro.

The location might be a bit far from the train station, but since I was familiar with the area, it wasn’t a big deal. The facility has 2 different elevator. That was a plus if you travel by yourself with 2 suitcases. It was really convenient. The guest was required to leave the key with the front desk if you left the property, which wasn’t a big deal because the staff was there 24/7. I requested a non-smoking room, which wasn’t available. However, the smoking room wasn’t having that strong smell. I’m not a smoker and normally the smell really bothers me, but not with the room I was provided. I will definitely stay here again.

it was my 2nd stay this time, and i think i'll have my 3rd stay at Bellclassic next year when i'll be visiting tokyo again. The hotel is lovely and staff are nice; compared to other 3-star or 4-star rated hotels, the price and quality are also very reasonable. Neighborhood around the hotel is peaceful and quiet, and there is a convenience store right across the hotel. Supermarket is also nearby, and a good ramen place too :) The hotel is somewhat distant from Ikebukuro (about 15 min walk) but if you take subway it's only 1 stop away (Otsuka station is just about 1 minute walk).

Nice location. Near both JR train station and metro station ( About 5-10mins walk, just depends on your walking speed🤣). Room clean and neat, and much larger than I thought. Able to fully open my 26" luggage. Love their green policy, you may get 2 bottle of distilled water each day if you choose to just tidying up your bedsheets instead of changing it. Best for those who had an issue of directly drinking tap water...

Hotel location is really comfortable; situated in a calm area yet only one station from the major one where you can switch to other lines, there are at least three convenience stores around, the big one situated right across the hotel with its second floor function as a 100 yen shop. Room and bathroom is indeed small compared with our other hotels we stayed in Tokyo, but with the price I think it is very reasonable moreover I think almost everything in Tokyo are designed to be compact. To reach: Super Hotel is located in Otsuka Station (JR Yamanote Line). Otsuka St. is a small and calm station, located between Ikebukuro Station (one of the major stations) and Sugamo Station. Take the north exit in Otsuka St., cross the street (there is 7 Eleven in your left) and just go straight, walk for 5 minutes and you will see a yellow board with katakana character written "Su-pa- hoteru". Staffs: The two ladies in the front desk are friendly and helpful. They saved our MiFi that arrived before our check in time and kept our suitcases for several hours before our check in time and after our check out time. The lady that works in the dining area is so polite, friendly and helpful. She greeted everyone with smile and checked every time to make sure every dishes were available. Breakfast: is decent and delicious. We were told ahead that at 8 a.m. the dining area will be full but as we were exploring Tokyo since early morning we always took breakfast at 7 a.m. and it was quiet and many seats were empty. Menu consisted of bread -soft, delicious, with several fillings such as red bean paste, and of course there are butter and jams-, I saw rice inside a rice cooker, four kind of soups, salads, main dishes. For drink there are hot/ cold water, ice cube, coffee, juices, tea, barley tea etc. We will definitely stay at this hotel again when we come back to Tokyo.

This is my 2nd time booking at Toyoko Inn Ikebukuro. Love the hotel's location, and got it for a great value. Every time I'm booking hotels, Toyoko Inn is always my first choice. The hotel price always include breakfast, which is always a deal breaker for me. This hotel always serves good breakfast. All the staff are very nice, accommodating, and are willing to help. Utilities are amazing. Rooms and toilets are small, but are on point. I also love that this hotel is very close to Ikebukuro JR Station, and lots of restaurants, convenient stores, and more.

This hotel has small rooms (normal for Tokyo), but well done, very clean. It was close to the train station, but with the double windows, I could not hear the trains (I opened the window sometimes, and then could hear the train). All in all, a fine hotel, well run and with all the basics. I had lunch in the dining room, they offered a buffet with a selection of Western and Japanese food.

Wanted to try out a love hotel because we were in Japan and why not! Hotel Varkin was in a good area with many other love hotels around it along with shops and bars and close to a station. You don’t interact with and employees except to check in, but you don’t even see each other’s faces. The room itself was big and spacious and the jacuzzi bathtub was great! Cons would be that we asked for a non-smoking room, but they gave us a smoking room that reeked of cigarettes. Also, the room itself isn’t the cleanest or what you would get at a regular hotel. We also expected to be some vending machines or products we could purchase to play with in the lobby or halls, but there weren’t any. Only 2 complimentary condoms in the room. Other than that, the love hotel was a nice experience. They have adult movies on the tv and free WiFi as well.

We ended up booking this accommodation after Brilliant MK-3 decided to cancel our reservation on the same day, which is already paid and booked more than a week ago before our arrival. This accommodation was the only silver lining of our very bad experience. The room is spacious, with complete set of toiletries, with kitchen, very accommodating owner/manager, with simple breakfast (as he calls it), very near the dining districts, accessible in terms of transportation. I really can’t ask for anything else.
