"Although the rooms are small in these kinds of Japanese business hotels, I found the room to be adequate for my husband and myself. It was very comfortable as long as you don't have big bags and can adjust to the smaller size. Everything fit in its place, and it wasn't as small as other hotels I've stayed in with a similar design in Japan. I liked the bathroom because you could take a bath or shower and there was complimentary and nice shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrushes, sponges, etc. They also provided a robe for each person, as well as slippers. I enjoyed watching Japanese TV and the internet worked well. The IP address is on the first screen of the TV. There was also an option on the TV remote to change the language settings of some English movies so you can hear them in Japanese or English. The breakfast was really good. It was just basic but well-done and comfortable. There weren't too many people there because you have to choose to buy the breakfast. In some places, they just give everyone the breakfast for free and then it gets too crowded. The bed was very soft and comfortable and I liked that you could control the air conditioning in your own room. Since the room was small, it was easy to get it cold. There is a fridge there too, but don't forget to plug it in. Also, there is a hair dryer in the drawer, so no need to bring your own. The check out was so fast! You can just leave your card in a box in the lobby. I really enjoyed my stay here and I would definitely come again! "

"Definitely the best reception staff I've experienced for a long time. So friendly and helpful. It was a pleasure. Excellent location close to lots of restaurants and station. Room size was fine for one person. The only thing not to get 5 stars was the cleanliness of the room (which is the cleaning staff more than anything). There were chocolate stains in the carpet on the main part next to the bed when I arrived and the bathroom had general grime in the corners of certain areas. Just those things although small are a big turn off. Other wise great to have a washer and dryer to use!!!"

"Super close to Ikebukuro station and surrounded by a lot of great cheap but super tasty eateries. Not as busy as Shinjuku and Shibuya so you have room to breathe as well as the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Rooms are small but you can clearly see the room size etc on the listings before booking. You get what you see so not sure why people are surprised to arrive and be confronted by a small room. It is snug but not uncomfortable. If you are on the larger side it would probably be best to book a larger room (We are standard Asian size lol)."

"It was my best stay in Tokyo, I'm stayed in Ueno and Shinjuku in the past but Ikebukuro is by far the best for shopping, eating and drinking. 'the b' is very easy to find, basically you take Exit 23 and turn left and walk straight for 5 mins and you'll see the hotel on the left. Unfortunately Exit 23 has only stairs with no lift/escalator, but there's another exit that does, I can't remember which one but it's on YouTube. The hotel is small like all hotels in Japan but has everything you need and really utilised the space well. I was travelling with my wife, 2 small children and a baby, and we ordered the triple room, they've put 3 beds together so there was more than enough space to sleep. There's resturants, bars, convenience stores nearby and yet the hotel is very quiet. Also it's a very nice location for the kids as I felt it was a very safe area, even late at night. Fortunately for us it was cherry blossom season and on our last day we did some exploring around the area and we found a very very nice park behind the hotel with a small traditional temple, needless to say we took lots of photos and they were one of the best photos of the trip as it was very quiet and traditional (unlike some touristy areas) and representative of Tokyo. Overall, I'm in love with this place, can't wait to go back in December."

"While it is near the JR Ikebukuro station, going there might be tricky, especially with luggage. Use South Exit and head to the direction of Metropolitan Plaza (the other way is Seibu, so don't go that way!). You will pass through Lumine / Metropolitan Plaza and just exit to the street. The intersection near you will have the Metropolitan Hotel already. If you ask for directions through email, they will send you a detailed guide on how to get to their hotel, in a PDF with pictures for your reference! Another reason why we chose the hotel is because the airport limousine stops there. We were on the last leg of our trip and already too tired to take the train / monorail back to Haneda airport. The best option is to book an airport limousine. All you had to do was go to the designated stop (just outside the hotel) 10mins before the departure and ask for your luggage to be tagged (ours was International Terminal). Once the bus arrives, just hop on and the attendants will load your luggage in the compartment below. Then sit back, relax as the bus takes you to the airport. No more stress of going through the trains, transferring and dodging people. Overall, the hotel is modern, has CNN and BBC for English channels. Bathroom is spacious and has toiletries for your convenience."

"I had the best sleep since I do t know when. There were a lot of bas and clubs around the hotel but it was really quiet. You can hardly hear anything. Super accessible to food around the hotel. Famous manmaru just outside the hotel but too bad it was closed for obong during my stay. The toilets are very clean! Feels like a 5 star hotel. Best is there is a washing machine in the room. I can wash my clothes and go back home without worrying about laundry. Microwave available too! Everything you need is there. The staffs are really helpful as well. "

"WOW. There’s literally nothing I don’t like about this hotel. The room was spotless but extremely small like all Japanese hotel which I totally don’t find it as an issue as I am a petite Asian. It’s around 5-10mins walk from Ikebukuro station, with a Family Mart <1min walk away. However, the stretch of road from the train station exit to the hotel seems to be an “entertainment” street but it doesn’t bother me much, in fact, I find it interesting and didn’t felt unsafe walking at night. Ikebukuro is very conveniently located, with direct train (Narita Express) from airport. To be honest, I booked a hotel in Ikebukuro because hotels in Shinjuku & Shibuya are so overpriced but I ended up preferring Ikebukuro over Shinjuku & Shibuya as it is less crowded and has plenty of cafes, restaurants and shopping places as well. All ladies get to choose 5 items (lotion sachets, shower cap, nail file etc) for free at the reception daily which is a very nice touch, I posted on my IG story and got quite a few PMs from ladies asking me for the hotel’s name. I LOVEEEE the onsen so much that I went there to shower and soak daily instead of using the bathroom in my hotel room. Highly recommend big sized individuals who find the bathroom in hotel room too small to go to the onsen to shower instead if you don’t mind being naked in front of others. The breakfast was free for all guest and it was super delicious!!! Huge variety and tasted so healthy yet delicious! The hotel uses ionic water, which is supposed to be healthier? Bring a water bottle with you as the hotel provides water cooler. Also, if you opt out of the room cleaning service, towels will still be provided daily (they hang outside the door) & they will reward you with free bottled water. This hotel practise no check out at the reception so you can just leave the room and you’re “checked out”. I rarely dedicate so much of my time to type such a long review but this hotel is so worth it! Highly recommend to anyone visiting"

"This is a good option for a few types of travelers: folks on a budget but dont want a dorm, people who want a taste of a Japanese traditional hotel, or people who need a convenient place to stay in a good area. The hotel has everything you need. A kitchen and socialzing area, laundry facilities, just a 3 min walk from the subway station, etc. Rooms are small, but it was more than enough space for me, much bigger than a capsule which are often not much cheaper. I never had a problem using the shared toilets or showers. Everything was clean too. Futon was soft and the blanket was warm. AC worked well too. It had some of the parts of a hostel that I like, without the party vibe. Highly recommended. Please note that this does not have all the services of a true ryokan, but then again its only 1/4 of the price, so one shouldnt expect too much. But they did give a yukata to wear around the hotel! Very nice touch!"
