(I made reservations in two parts, so I can write two reviews. The content is the same, but I hope it helps everyone.) My friend had plans, so I spent two nights with her and two nights alone. I continued to stay in the same room after my friend and I shared a room, possibly due to the cleaning service. I had hoped they would give me a new room if my friend checked out before my check-in, but it was a bit disappointing. ❤️ The advantages are that the size is just right for two adult women; it's neither too big nor too small. If you're a couple, the bed might feel a bit narrow, but it's spacious enough for an adult man to use alone. I was able to spread out two suitcases (24 and 28 inches each) in the corner, and the room had amenities like air conditioning, a TV, an electric kettle, an air purifier, a hairdryer, a stand, phone chargers, adapters, glass cups, slippers, fabric deodorizer, hangers (4), toothbrush cups, shampoo + conditioner + body wash, toilet paper, a bathtub, and a microwave. It's rare for a hotel to have a microwave in each room, so I appreciated that! Even though the bathtub was small, I enjoyed taking a half-bath every day, and the phone charger and stand were very useful! I was slightly worried about sound insulation since my room was in front of the elevator, but it was quiet, and the room was clean. The bathroom curtain had no odor, and since I was very tired, I just lay down and fell asleep on the bedding. There’s a 7-Eleven right across from the hotel, which is convenient, but the crosswalk is far, so it’s a bit inconvenient to go around. Nearby, there’s a budget supermarket called Seiyu (サンシャイン西友) that locals often visit, where you can shop for lunch boxes and various items! If you go in the evening, instant food like lunch boxes is discounted, and they carry cosmetics, daily necessities, and more. They even sell some items cheaper than at duty-free shops, so I went there several times during my trip! Also, the area around the hotel is quiet as it is residential, and there are a few restaurants where you can have a simple meal, including one with machines that support Korean. The subway stations Shino-otsuka, Otsuka (JR), Higashi Ikebukuro, and Ikebukuro are nearby, making it convenient to access tourist sites! However, it's not particularly close to any one subway station, so you do have to walk a bit. Still, the way is not complicated, and there’s a train track nearby that makes the path quite nice! It’s also close to Sunshine City, which is great for shopping! There was a Korean staff member among the employees, and I used the laundry service once; there were plenty of washing machines, so there was no waiting, and I appreciated that the desk exchanged coins for me! All the staff were friendly, and they spoke English well! After check-out, I left my luggage for a short while, and I was grateful for their kind assistance! There is also a scale to weigh your luggage! There are even two elevators, which makes it very convenient! 🔥 The downsides are: 1. There’s no cleaning service. I'm not sure if it's a trend in Japanese hotels nowadays due to high labor costs, but the lack of cleaning is not great for long-term travelers. Returning to a clean room after going out is one of the small joys of traveling, but without cleaning, you have to keep the room tidy during your stay. (For a little over 20,000 won, you can request paid cleaning.) 2. Since there is no cleaning service, you have to go to the desk every day to get new towels. After confirming your room number, they provide a set amount of towels in a plastic bag, and while this may seem trivial, going every day became quite a hassle. Other hotels without cleaning services usually hang them on the doorknob, but perhaps out of fear of theft, going to get towels felt annoying. 3. It may just be my room, but on the 11th floor, the bathtub in the bathroom seemed to be blocked, as water didn’t drain properly. It was quite a shock after taking a half-bath. The sink was unbearably hot in the summer, and while hot water flowed freely, cold water barely came out. In the busy morning, I had no choice but to wash my face in the bathtub, but the water wouldn't drain there either... it was a total disaster. ♦️ As both an advantage and a disadvantage, like the towels, you also need to go to the shelf in front of the desk for other disposable items.
