The building is actually the university, surrounded by park, and 30 some rooms are made into hotel rooms. Spacious and clean. BUT! They do not have air conditioner. Outside was about 65 degrees and already it was too warm in the room. Location is perfect, 3 min walk through this beatiful gate to old town. Lots of coffee shops and restaurants within 5 min walk. we went there for breakfast, Hotel charged 22.5 SF for breakfast per person.😳 Sraff is very friendly and accommodating.We were given free passes for public transport and we used it every day, There is a big department store near Market Square, and on the top floor they have nice restaurant with lots of choices. Beatiful interior and very good food. Also rather reasonable. Train Station is 3 stops away on bus number 30. Right there you will find tourist info office. Zurich and Lucern is only one hour away. From Train station you can take tram number 8 and in about 10 min it will bring you to Market Square. Those free passes were great to have, we love to walk, but it is hard to be on your feet the whole day. Tram 16 goes through whole city,, you can see different neighborhoods of Basel. We loved our stay in Basel.

The hotel is ok especially the free transportation tickets during the stay. You have tram no 3 stop to town and other connections just a block from hotel and bus no. 50 to the airport 5 mins walk , almost like a shuttle bus with cages and shelving for luggage. Hurrah for Basel for this service. Breakfast is expensive, at 22.50 CHF per person, like everything else in Basel. The hotel is big and white inside, the long corridors reminds of a hospital. The rooms are spartan but very clean the bathroom is great. The queen bed in our room was against the wall (why?) so one of us had difficulties getting in and out of bed, especially when you have tallish wooden frames,if you are not careful you can hurt your legs. The mattresses are not that comfortable and only one pillow? Maybe they should get better mattresses and 2 extra pillows. The hotel reception staff , except for one lady with an unusual name, she was very friendly and informative, are kind of to the point, like bank staff, not one extra word not one less word. What you ask they answer, no more no less. They can be on the phone for a few minutes and not acknowledge you or look at you or even signal with a finger. Except for that one lady at reception and the very friendly lady in the breakfast area. But all in all good hotel to stay if you can get a good price.

We had one afternoon in Basel, to explore it on foot, and this was a great place to use as our base. Staff were friendly, the room was clean and pleasant and the Basel Travel voucher is a great idea, giving hotel guests free travel on public transport, including buses to and from the airport via nearby bus-stops.

Friendly and courteous staff. Nice cool ice tea and seasonable fruits at front desk makes it very welcoming upon my daily returns during this hot summer season. My room and bathroom are surprising large and spacious. Clean sheets and towels daily. Place is easily accessible with tram stops nearby to Basel SBB, Messeplatz and old city. Catholic Church in walkable distance for masses. There are two supermarkets in close proximity which is a plus for me.

The room was spacious, modern and spotlessly clean. Bathroom the same. Bed and matras was very good. Breakfast good. Staff was very helpfull, adequate and friendly. I stay in lot's of hotels, this one was certainly a big suprise in terms of quality and value for money. Not a 3-star but defenitely more a 4-star!

Beautiful boiling Basel”

The staff were welcoming, happy to make up for our poor German by speaking English and were happy to change our room when we said we'd seen a slightly different one online. The hotel was in beautiful grounds and was clean and quiet. The breakfast was plentiful without being over the top.

And a little red squirrel carrying his nuts from just outside the window. This hotel is a simple straightforward hotel. If you are looking for luxury and porters its not here. It is well kitted out and well thought out and lovely and fresh and clean everywhere. The staff are kind and multi lingual spoke english very well. Dinner is only available if you book in advance - no restaurant available except for breakfast.

Family run hotel. Very friendly boss. Worried that no one at the reception, he gave me room key in advance knowing that I will only check in late at night. Room is nice and toilet is clean and modern. Although stayed only got a night, but totally enjoyed our stay there.

hôtel calme, dans un beau parc, le personnel est présent mais discret. Il est très propre. Les chambres sont petites mais confortables. Petit déjeuner complet. Accès facile dans une rue calme. Domage que le parking soit payant pour les personnes qui louent une chambre. Sinon il se situe près de la city où l'on trouve les restaurants.
