I had a wonderful experience at Hostel Coati! Yorle and Mauricio went above and beyond to make my stay very comfortable. The rooms were very clean and yes hot showers was a plus. 😊 They decorated for Christmas inside and outside was very beautiful with Christmas music playing outside all day. Mauricio was extremely helpful and accommodating with checking in, booking tours and making sure you had everything you needed. Yorle made my stay very magical and because of that I will miss everyone. I got to spend Christmas with them with an amazing dinner and gift exchange was awesome! They made me a family member during my stay! The breakfast was different every day as well was very filling. The lunch and dinner menu was traditional Costa Rican food with low prices and lots of food. I highly recommend Hostel Coati be your stay in Monteverde. Be sure to say hola from Michael from Orlando Florida for me! 🤗

Budget accomodation”

Good if you're looking for a cheap accomodation, not a fancy place. The bed was comfortable, breakfast and towel included, clean. Santa Elena (where the transmonteverde bus stops) is very small, so everything is pretty close. This hostel is located on the main street.
Could smell food when they cook breakfast, no big deal to me for two nights, just letting know. The tiny windows looked on the inside of the building, so had to remain covered. Just know that the stairs to the rooms and kitchen are mostly uncovered, you might need an umbrella or rain stuff (it's still rain season now).

Great owner, good value, would definitely recommend”

Owner Mauricio was very friendly and helpful and arranged every activity or transportation we needed. Breakfast was included, the location is very central and we really enjoyed our stay.
The walls are thin and it can get quite noisy during the night. Our room was located to the main street and there is a bar right next to the hostel.

Was advertised as B&B, but was more like a bare-bones hostel.”

Typical CR breakfast was fine. People were great, very friendly and helpful.
Room very small. Decor awful like child's room. Bed not comfortable. Bathroom door did not close. Left one day early with 24 hour notice but no refund. Cash-only was not convenient. Gravel spilled onto concrete steps to the street creating a dangerous trip hazard and was not swept during my visit.

Great host, very friendly and helpful. He will advise you and help when needed. Simple accommodation in the center of town. Good value for money in case you plan a short stay. Breakfast was Costa Rican style.
There could be some additional hangers in the room in case there is no wardrobe

The staff, especially Mauricio. He was professional, efficient, very helpful and friendly. He assisted with booking all of our tours, even arranged an excellent taxi service for us, but he also found time to chat too, especially about football 😊 despite being a very busy and hard working man. He couldn't have done anything more to make our stay at Coati Place in particular, and Santa Elena / Monteverde a wonderful experience. Gracias mi amigo 😊
