This place is certainly a 5 star resort, but it's the subtle kind. There's nothing about the facilities, food, amenities, location, etc. that's gonna knock your socks off- they're all great, just not overly luxurious. Where Excellence El Carmen WILL knock your socks off is in the service/staff. I'd like to think I have a pretty well-defined perspective on this: in m...
I absolutely love the grand Bahia Principe Resorts. We originally booked at the Punta Cana side of the resort but found the amenities bleak and lackluster. food was subpar but the resort itself and hospitality were beautiful and welcoming. We upgraded to Ambar on our second day and didn’t turn back. My heart is really at the Esmeralda because even though Ambar is adult...
Great customer service , and restaurant, cons the rooms are located out side, but best vacation experience ever.
Have not been to this hotel since 2010 but nothing has changed in regards to resort look. Food & service were exceptional at all eating places. Bar staff could not do enough & were also exceptional and drinks were probably the best made I have had. I have been to Punta Cana 6 other times this year and stayed at other resorts rated in the top 10 and this was definitely ...
Pros- Staff at restaurants, bars, entertainment team, room service and housekeeping. Staff were amazing!! Anything we needed they were great. Remembered our names and orders daily. It was great. Servers barely make a few hundred dollars per month as minimum wage while working 10-15 hour days so please tip them well!! Or even take costume jewelry, toiletries, coloring b...
The beach ,the pool and the bar wonderfull
First time in the Dominican Republic for my daughters as a birthday gift. They had a nice experience. They had the Elegance Club Room, Staff in the entire resort was excellent. The rooms were nice and clean. The location, the beaches, the water were awesome. My only concern was the food, they were really disappointed. They will keep anyway a good memory of their sta...
Clean, comfortable rooms, good food, good service. I came to the resort for a week as part of a wedding party and was a little concerned about negative issues brought up in reviews. Negative things that were reported by others that I did not experience: Internet service - good everywhere, queues for restaurants - none, aggressive sellers on the property - not aggress...
Reynaldo went out of his way to make me and my boyfriend happy. We were celebrating his birthday and everything went amazingly!! Even when there was a little problem it was taken care of or made up for by something else!!! The servers and dancers are amazing!! This is a place that makes you feel welcomed and free on vacation. It is quiet and away from everything else b...
By far the best vacation I have ever been on. Let me tell you, this resort caters to your every need. It is so cool to have a Butler looking out for you the entire stay making sure you are experiencing the best of the resort. The rooms are immaculately clean and very spacious. We had a room with a beautiful view and also had a Jacuzzi on the porch/balcony. I will c...
This resort is advertised as a 5 star all inclusive experience with gourmet restaurants. Instead of the concierge curating your experience you have to stop by their office everyday to make dinner reservations for the best restaurants. They trick you and tell you they are full when in fact half of the restaurants are empty. Employees working in the resort use unnapropri...
In a word, Spectacular My wife and I spent 8 nights, and we enjoyed every minute of our time in the resort. Beginnig with our check-in. Platinum is the way to go. The service from the start of our stay was excellent. We had decided on Punta Cana for our vacation and did our research reading reviews on many resorts. And decided on Bavaro Princess, #1 because of many go...
The rooms could be a bit cleaner but it's made up for by the service. Definitely get the cheapest standard rate possible an expect to pay an additional $100/night to update to Diamon Club (which you should do). Everyone is so friendly, the food is ok (the steakhouse is the best). I'm mostly Vegan and had to let that go to have a real meal. Its a drink and be merry type...
I have stayed in this resort for 11 nights with my family,in the beginning I was very disappointed because of our room ,we booked 2 rooms and one room supposed to be arranged for our anniversary after sending few e-mails and been confirmed that our request been added to our reservation but guess what ? We have received the worst room from the resort (entrance door brok...
I stayed in the tropical view double room. Upon arrival, one of the beds had hair all over the sheets and pillow cases. Housekeeping came and put fresh linen on the beds. There were other occasions where they did not clean the room even after I called several times to request and put the cleaning sign on the door. The mini bar was not replenished daily. We both were ce...
Some staff are helpful, some not. All room concierge hard sell with titles like “welcome pack” etc. Check in staff originally good, then slow and delayed for now reason. Shop purchases was cancelled as item didn’t have a ticket. The diamond club, hideaway and normal splits are a ridiculous pointless exercise in futility and perceived importance. One nexus guy wa...
I love that they have activities throughout the day, yoga, Pilates, aqua exercise.
Beautiful beach with an abundance of drinks and food. Lots of activities Something for everyone Lock on the sliding door to the porch was broken. Called it in, received very prompt service Friendly staff Room floor was sandy on arrival Missing shower door, creating a messy bathroom. No wash cloths, had to ask for some The trash dumpsters were next to my room. It got ...
Attentive, welcoming and consierge level service. Staff knew our names after only two days and remembered our food allergies. Beach was clean and kept well. Power in our room was out 2 to 3 times a day and water preasure was non existent. Other than that, we love the place and will return. The food, staff, and facilities were great
Phenomenal staff throughout the property. Many different water options as well. The food in the restaurants were great.
everything excellent except upon leaving the system is not good. We missed the shuttle ferry and we were standing at the top of the hill for the ferry with no direction from staff. I haven't checked out at a front desk for 20 years but this hotel said it is mandatory on the last day when i asked why the boat left without us. There should be a big sign in your room ...
Beautiful property but slippery especially in the rooms bc of ac and humidity. Got inaccurate information from staff about everything. Don’t book Coco Bongo there. Do it yourself. Village shops closed on Sunday by the way. Thx Westin. Food is terrible and served cold and room service is ridiculously expensive and the prices are not accurate in the menu. Room wasn’t cl...
Facilities excellent, staff the best. Food and bevarage can be improve, but the beach MUST be improve.
I highly highly recommend this place because it’s just a few steps from a gorgeous beach, the free breakfast at Joy Nutrition Popsicle was always more than perfect, including the wonderful staff
The best Entertainment Was Frangel
Very natural beauty.fun place to be at and food is great with big selection.staff very kind and thoughtful.
The grounds, pool, and beach were beautiful. Staff was friendly and helpful. It seemed as though tipping was expected, which surprised us. The food was very good and there was variety. Not all restaurants were open as advertised. Activities were plentiful, but not always as scheduled. Overall our visit was wonderful and we would definitely return.
It was my first time in Dominican Republic but prior to going there I read several reviews. These reviews were very helpful helpful. Bahia Principe Esmeralda is a well kept property with staff who goes above and beyond to ensure you are comfortable. I got there the day before my birthday to celebrate alone but thanks to the wonderful staff I never felt alone. The room...
Had reservation at Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro. Waited 30 to 40 minutes to then be told we have no rooms but we will upgrade you to Amber Green . Then 30-40 minutes later they tell us we only have room for 6 of the 8 so 1 couple will have to go back to the other resort. We said no and argued a while and finally all got at the same resort. Then our room key didnt work (...
Cheap places to stay in Dominican Republic
I stayed here and enjoyed it. Wifi did not work in my room. But I sure did like the quiet clean pool every day. No screaming kids and always peaceful. Most go to beach, so pool is perfect for quiet time
I stayed there for one night. Hotel staff almost does not speak English, but very friendly. My room was pretty large and clean. The location is a little bit far from center. They do not have hot water.
It was y first time traveling solo, and the moment I arrived, I was happily greeted by my roommates. I stayed in a 12-bed mixed dormitory. There was a fan above every bed to make sleeping more comfortable and to keep mosquitoes away (still got bitten). The inner garden is just beautiful and a nice place to hang out during the hot days and dark nights. There is a small ...
I highly recommend this place which is very local and thus gives a good feel of the country. the place and the area are safe. the host is so friendly and helpful and the room super. everything is perfect.
This was a nice place and good value for money. It really had a nice welcoming and safe atmosphere. Francesca is fantastic and very very helpful, as is her husband. The room is basic (but you get what you pay for). I would stay here again for sure. One thing to note is the wifi sucks. Everything else was great.
The owner of the building is really really really nice, his girlfriend tho seemed annoyed and incompetent. I did complain about the incredibly dirty shower. the was so much hair that I pulled out of there, I would have never stepped in there without flip flops. I asked her to come downstairs to look at it. I asked her to organize someone that would clean it. She said...
Loved this place! owner is very nice
Great had a wonderful time u will stay there again
The room was spacious and clean with two queen beds. There were no windows and the bed was slightly uncomfortable. Overall, the people and cleanliness served our overnight stay which made it enjoyable.
Wonderful, everything is there plus it is close to the casino, hospital and church. The only thing to make my stay better is better WiFi service. The whole area of the resort should be ok with WiFi extenders. My two stays before this one both had access to WiFi in the rooms I was staying in, but now WiFi is limited to the reception area only. Other than that...
I was very dissappointed with the staff and the accomodations ! Booked a one bedroom apart. about one month in addvance, when i got there was none avail. The staff did not speak English as advertized on the site. The room that I did receive had numerous problems , Aircon leaked on the bed, Bathroom cieling leaked.I woul not reccommend the place to anyone.
Booked a "Luxury Studio with Sea View" for two adults. It was functional at best. Not a hint of luxury, no seaview anywhere and it was clearly meant for single occupancy.
The apartment and 3 others are situated within the grounds of the owners garden. The pool and gardens are lovely. The family helpful & friendly. We had a car which is almost a must as the property is a 5 min drive to the nearest beach or western style restaurants. There is an area in the garden where you can prepare food. It would be perfect if there was a fridge ...
Little place in the centre with commendable staff. Rooms not salubrious but sufficient, especially those with kitchenette and garden. Secure parking but only space enough for two vehicles.
very nice and big room, always clean, lots of water in the shower, no so much in sink but was ok. good location if u want to see the real way people live there walking distance to the many things to see. some times garbage on street is sad but thats reality if you dont want to see that then go to a resort. i enjoy very much my stay at this hotel
We had a one day layover in the DR and stayed at coco. The owner is very nice, staff was very helpful. We had transport arranged for us by the hotel (we had to pay) as our flight was arriving late I the evening. Breakfast was outstanding and reasonably priced (3-4 $USD). I would highly recommend this hotel for. A layover or any type of trip in Santo Domingo. 2 minut...
I had only booked 1 night but i ended up staying 3 all together. The rooms are not very pretty and beds are a little too soft for my taste but the location on the hotel was great - walking distance to the sea, walking distance to the walking street and old/historic city. Bring a bottle of water with you in the room as they dont provide drinking water (there is a sh...
I had a pleasant stay in Casa Delfin, room was equipped with TV, fridge and ventilator and of good size. The sea is just two minutes away and the center of Las Terrenas 10 minutes.
This was one of the cleanest hotel in the city of SDQ. Great location and a major value of your money. The clerk was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff was great and courtesy. This is a must next visit to DR. Why pay all that money for a hotel room for a 4 hour a day sleep. One will be out in the city and the beach all day. Smart traveling. Thanks.
The owners/ managers of this Apartahotel are fantastic! Franck speaks English, his wife only a little, but they are extremely gracious and willing to help. The rooms are very large and the bathroom is also. Very clean, beds comfortable. They provide bottled water and a wonderful breakfast. Wifi was good and the room had air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan. You h...
I liked this place, not on the beach but a 100m walk and you’re there. Walking distance to everything you need, bank beach grocery store and restaurants and bars. Room was small but clean and comfortable. For the money it was a great spot.
Special thanks to Dario and his wife. We felt like we visited old friends.
The hotel is located on the mainroad leading south a bit away from the center of Barahona, but Barahona is just a small town, so it is a 10 minutes walk. The rooms are simple with AC, ventilator and TV. Wifi in room was sometimes tricky, it works best in lobby and restaurant. Breakfast and dinner were in the price included. Some varieties are available.
Great. I am planning on returning
We stayed in 2 bedroom apartment style hotel with kitchen. It was very convenient to use kitchen. This hotel is 3 min from center and beaches by car, so it's better to have your own car. Very friendly staff and family atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay in this hotel for 5 days with amazingly beautiful beaches. We'd like to stay in the same hotel in the future.
This was a perfect place to stay for a couple of nights. A two minute walk from the beach, bars & restaurants. I was disappointed by the “couldn’t be bothered” attitude of I imagine the owner who didn’t get up to help me open the gate whilst struggling with my bags, didn’t say hello or welcome me. He took my money & handed me a key without even a smile. A common occu...
The location across the street from the excellent beaches and the hotel was very nice, and cozy. It was quiet and the staff helpful and friendly. The only drawback was the shower faucets needed to be replaced. All in all, we loved it.
The stay was good, place is clean and beautiful. I missed not having air-conditioning but I knew this before hand. I had the best time ever.
The owner and manager of the hotel is an amazing women who has left little touches of her style throughout the property and gives the feeling of a secret garden getaway. Our stay was relaxing and we enjoyed the seclusion of our apartment.

Nice suites design. Very comfortable. Pillows. Great. Hotel has new feel. Breakfast excellent. Quiet in rooms
I didn't have a lot expectation about the intercontenental Hotel in Santo Domingo due to my previuso experience in other Interconental hotels around the world. I have ato admit that the service and room standard was Ok. No super class but ok. The access to the city was quite easy by taxi ( 7 USD = 200 pesos). There are good restaurangs in the area to a very good price ...
not the best looking hotel, but the people are really nice and everything is within walking distance. ill def be back!!
really, this is a nice hotel. It is new, modern, the staff are so friendly and helpful. The bed - so cushy and comfy. There are two pools and a nice little restaurant. Also there are many restaurants close by and the fisherman's village is about a 10 minute walk. The wifi worked well. The beach right out front is not the best - especially once you've seen playa coson, ...
Great! Would go back as you get full Dominican experience!
Food can be a little ‘repetitive’, but I think that would be the same in any all inclusive resort.
I was a bit disappointed with my room but did not complain because the Manager was courteous about allowing me to have early entry. The towels were worn and did not glisten white as in most hotels of this rating. I had a wheel chair room but the shower is terrible and water flooded and shower head not stable. I was using a walking cane. The price is high compared to wh...
Great! Friendly and extremely helpful staff, very comfortable bed, had an awesome burger and chicken soup in the restaurant. I think it may be a lil pricey and there's a 28% sales tax on everything! Other than that, I'm glad I stayed at Four Points. :)
Cons: no elevators, mosquitoes all around!!!, very bad gym facilities!!!, no healthy food at the snack bar next to the beach. Chroaches at the bathroom!; Reataurant schedules not feasible for me. Pros: very friendly staff; The manager Mr. K???? Was awesome!!!; Mr. Raul at the buffet restaurant very good!! The brst thing that this hotel has is the employees!!!
The good thing is very safe , it's clean ,not loud like the other place. Very pleasant, looking forward to book again, thanks a lot .
great staff but somewhat old facilities.
It's a nice hotel. Their food is average, it would of been better if there were more Dominican good and the food hotter then warm/cold. I had a problem with the room- the AC wasn't working so they switched us TWICE. But overall it was okay, they need more activities. The beach was really dirty with seaweed but it's not the hotels fault so I can't blame them.
we paid for a king bed room and they gave us double bed. I was very disappointed because they did not care about it. we too much for the room.
I enjoyed 4 days at Serena. It is an older style hotel but is very lovely. A good sized room with a nice balcony, I kept the doors open all night, looking out and hearing the ocean. Beach is small but larger city beach is very close. Hotel is down a small road, west of the town so the motorbike noise is minimal and so it is a very peaceful place. The pool and grou...
I was quite happy with my decision to stay in this place. I chose it because of its location that was close to the beach and town center; everything was within 5 minutes walking distance. At first I thought the room was too big for me. But I actually felt quite comfortable. I was in love with the arrangement and furniture inside. The room was very clean and looked v...
It's a really pretty hotel and the staff is great. Needs a bit of paint in a few places where it's flaking and blackout curtains if you want to sleep in late. The current curtains leave some light in the middle. Breakfast buffet is OK but could be better. No hot milk. No Expresso machine. Fruit juices are way too sweet. And that's about it as far as flaws go. Everyth...
Superior room was excellent, but beware if you’re in blocks 3 and 4 as you’ll be deafened by the evening entertainment which thoughtfully goes off at 11pm. Food was very varied throughout the day. Nice beach and the rooftop pool was excellent. Overall very good value for money and if you pre book a transfer from the airport through numerous online companies you can get...
We loved it. Just make sure to have a car or bike since it is away from everything. The beach is fantastic and you have almost alone
Staff are so nice. They are willing to help you anytime. It was good memory for me and my friend
Everything is perfect. Good big size comfortable rooms, tasty breakfast, good location, wifi. Good value for money.
Great value and friendly staff. A 10 min walk to town. Maid service every other day. Great beach and grassy rigging area is a short walk from hotel
Perfect place with wonderful staff - breakfast (not included) was great, bungalow clean, owner super nice and available if any questions or request. Good bang for buck!

very new and comfortable hotel, reception staff very kind, especially Esnalder
The stay was fine. I feel it is overrated as a five-star hotel, but not by much. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only caveat, which seems minor, is that there is no coffee available for early risers until 7 a.m. There are coffeemakers in the rooms but that type of coffee, in any hotel, cannot match a fresh-brewed pot in a regular or commercial coffeemaker. Overa...
convenient and very comfortable, most elegant hotel in santo domingo. the lobby and surrounding vegetation (palm trees, orchids, and exotic plants). the swimming pool was large, clean, warm and inviting. the buffet was extensive and delicious. the snacks in the afternoon and evening were just right for between meeals. the rooms are spacious, comfortable and elegantly appo...
The unit, a one-bedroom apartment on a second floor in my case, is really beautiful and in great general state and condition. Me encanto! La atencion del personal es excelente, la comida es muy buena, la habitacion muy bella y moderna, todo siempre limpio e intacto. Franklyn nos dio un servicio excelente tambien.
