Where to stay in Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta hotels & accommodations

My stay in the hotel with my family for vacation is fantastic. The staff are friendly, professional and prompt in their service. The food in the hotel restaurant are nice. We like the swimming pool and the children playroom the most. Only one bad logistic issue that does not reflect the hotel's culture and image. Everything in the hotel is spick and span, except for t...

This is the best hotel we ever stayed. The staff are very friendly, helpful and thoughtful. We request for a morning call as our daily tour start as early as 4:00AM local time and the front desk staff never failed to follow up with us about the our preferred breakfast so that they can get their chef to prepared for us to take out. The breakfast is a complimentary with...

We lodged in two rooms, one single room on 3rd floor with spacious comfortable bed, clean, neat, though small but very well arranged. Other two bed room on 2nd floor for my two growing boys. Its a modest stay, perfectly match with the location and surrounding. Breakfast is good and sufficient, only need to find the right time to get a nice table near the pool, otherwi...

To sum up, this hotel is simply amazing from all point of view. Personally I would say this could be one of the best hotel in Yogyakarta and one of the best that we have stayed throughout our travel around the world. Excellent hospitality from the point of check in to check out. The hotel is located 0.5km from the biggest shopping mall in Yogyakarta (the Ambarukmo Mal...

This hotel gave us the best time in our first trip to Indonesia and Yogyakarta. I would like to specifically commend the staff who assisted us in every way they can - Supriyanto, Victor, Tya, Vriska, Debbie and the shuttle driver who took us to the airport (didn't get his name). Everything is perfect from check-in to check-out. So hassle free and very professional in t...

The exterior of Melia Purosani looks very pretty. It overlooks the cityscape and the position of our assigned room is facing where the sun rise and sets. The deluxe room is huge for 2 persons, and every day there is a complimentary snack. It's a nice gesture after a day out traveling! The restaurant where it serves breakfast has very good chef! the Nasi Padang is our...

We booked four rooms during our trip to Yogyakarta. The staffs are amazing, they do their best to meet our needs. We requested for connecting rooms and they fulfil our request. We love the pools and also the outdoor garden. The only improvement for them is to clean the room carpet as stains are visible. We had wedang ronde (ginger drink) at night and the peanut we had ...

This is a good hotel in Yogyakarta. A little out of the main tourism area but not too far and good for business travelers. The highlight was an extremely helpful manager (Mr. Oke, I think?) who went out of his way to ensure everything went well and even booked a dinner for my team at a restaurant after I'd asked him for a recommendation.

The moment I step my foot inside this hotel, I fell in love. <3 The staff greet me and my friend warmly and they are very polite and helpful. The room was clean and room security was excellent. They provide daily room service and they provide kettle but no refill for complimentary tea and nescafe but it is still acceptable for us. Bed and pillow were really comfortabl...

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Why I chose this hotel? It because many travellers from Indonesia and outside rated it as excellent hotel in Jogja. This hotel located about 10 - 15 minutes walking from Malioboro and Taman Pintar. Also located near the Bakpia Pathuk shops. I got my room upgraded to excecutive room (wooow) without any additional charge. The room is ...

Of all the three Yogyakarta hotels that we stayed, Grand Aston was our firm favourite. Although we had an initial glitch with one of the lady receptionist when checking in, it was soon forgiven with the quality service of the other staff. One shining example was Mr. Hakim, Grand Aston gym instructor. Being on holiday, we wanted to have our fitness checked amidst the fo...

5-star quality hotel in a good central location in Yogyakarta. Great value for money spa and the hotel is right next to a large shopping center with a hypermart for daily necessities and a money changer with the most competitive rates I’ve seen while in Indonesia. The layout of the hotel is slightly inefficient while the entrance to the hotel is hidden behind the sho...

I have stayed in more than 100 hotels and neo awana is the best ever hotel I have stayed. The staffs are super friendly and willing to give the best service for us. After this neo plus awana will be my only choice in Indonesia. Keep up your excellent service. Well done

We had a very good time at Pesonna Malioboro Yogyakarta hotel. The location is great, just a short waking distance to Malioboro street and many other attractions. The rooms are quite big and very comfortable. The staff were also very nice and helpful. They really made their best to help with anything we needed. Highly recommend.

One of the best hotels in Yogyakarta, the staff is very friendly and very helpful with everything. The hotel building is cool, unique and nice. every corner of the hotel has its own touch. The hotel room is clean, comfortable, neat. the interior design is very nice and detailed.

The most pleasant stay that I had in long time. The location is great, and the staff was friendly and charming, just like the beautiful city of Yogyakarta. A truly heartfelt service Breakfast buffet was excellent, great coffee by Illy, with egg station and all. Food choices were rotated every morning. BUT, It has the worst shower design compared to what I have seen...

We enjoyed our week at this hotel and had a really good time using it as a base for trips around Yogyakarta (Borobodur, Prambanan, Yogyakarta city). The lake view rooms are great as you can watch the fish swim past your room or even feed them (great for kids). Everything was in good condition and well tended, the breakfast buffet was huge with a lot of different things...

it is my 2nd stay at this hotel, friendly and polite staffs. Clean room, comfy bed and breakfast is ok. Hotel located at the heart of Yogyakarta Malioboro. Easy access to everywhere, shopping malls, restaurants and local culinary streets food. Opposite is the Yogyakarta train station, mind with the sound of the train. Will stay here again for my next visit to Yogyakar...
Cheap places to stay in Yogyakarta

That was my best and favorite homestay until now. The place is really beautiful and the hosts are the best! I enjoyed the chats with Andreas, we played guitar together and he made me a great time there. It's a shame that I was just for one night there... I highly recommend to visit them! I definitely will come back for a longer time. :)

I stayed here for 4 nights with an affordable price, if you don't mind sharing a room and toilet with others then this place is a great deal. Just walking distance from Malioboro Street, the environment is safe and the owner is very friendly. I would stay here again if I come back to Yogja!

The place is nice, really good feeling since the begaining. Swimming pool, chill area, friendly staff,,really good vibe place. I booked the hammock, and the hammock space its a little bit hot because no fans, but you have your own plug and WiFi it’s quite fast. Location it’s a little bit far from the city center, but ok for that price. Really close to Warung Lotek Pak Mu...

I stayed at the dormitory room. You get what You pay for. Even though price is cheap, they didn't gave cheap service. Staff was really helpful. You get very basic things like bed with pillow (no blanket, unnecessary because room wasn't cold at all), room with fan, small locker, bathroom with only cold water (weather was quite hot when I'm there, I don't think you will ...

Pros The staff and managers are really awesome and so helpful. They truly know how to make you feel like family and also help to arrange all the things u need. They also encourage the guest to have dinner all together and is the best time. Cons. Toilet could be improved but is ok.

AMAZING staff AMAZING vibes AMAZING natural setting If you’re looking for a chill, welcoming place with staff that is simply the best, go to Jawajiwa. I intended to stay in Yogyakarta for only two days and stayed 5 - the location is so lovely with the rice paddy fields and the staff made me feel so welcome and I can happily call them friends. I can’t wait to come back ...

Location is good; a few minutes with scooter to the center; food and bars around the corner. Cubicles are very large compared to other hostels and have 2 to 3 power outlets and AC. Staff (Manumpak) is very nice, gets to know every person staying at the hostel, offers help and even food sometimes. Small locker for your valuables. Free water, coffee, tea and some toast ...

I stayed at Yogyakarta Bnb for three nights and had a great time. Everyone was really friendly when I arrived and the people i shared the dorm with were great. The outdoor shower is amazing and the breakfast is incredible - best breakfast I’ve ever had in a hostel before - and also better than most breakfast that you can buy!! Would definitely stay again! Lovely little...

I do really enjoyed staying 3 nights at Rumah Panjaitan during in yogyakarta, it does Feels Like Home!! the hosts clearly so nice and helpful. Shout out to da free breakfast that help me and my friend getting ready before went out!! Thankyou Rumah Panjaitan :):)

We have been having issues with all I’ve our accommodation while in Yogyakarta and we came across this homestay and fell in love with it and the host. They were only able to accommodate us for 1 night but helped us find more accommodation. They are absolutely amazing.

It was an unplanned visit to Jogja. Found this hostel through Agoda. The room looked spacious and clean from the photos and it's actually real. The place is huge and modern. I booked 3 nights there. I arrived with Grabike late at night and the reception was still open. The lobby is huge where you can find desktop free for use, toilet, musollah and smoking zone. During ...

Home-stay is not in a city center which makes it a perfect place if you want to escape busy city life. Garden is beautiful, full of flowers. It was such a relaxing place. Motorway is not far away, so occasionally during a silent night you can hear some cars as a background noise, but not as loud to bother your during a sleep. Staff was nice and helpful with any reque...

Our stay was just fantastic. The beds were comfortable and only in Venezia did we get proper sleep during our whole trip in Indonesia. The bathroom was spacious although the bathroom lock didn't work, that was a non-issue for us. What we really appreciated most though are the tours we booked from them - afternoon tour to Prambanan and whole day tour to Borobudur and ...

i stay at casa raffles hotel for 3 night when school holiday started. you know yogyakarta is well known for lack of hotel room supply in school holiday. i had difficulties booking hotel room a month before holiday in one of my favorite yogya hotels (ibis, mutiara, rumah boedi). so, i booked a junior suite at casa raffles. when first arrive i was dissapoint a bit be...

everything went pretty good except mosquitos at night time. I was bitten by mosquitos everyday I stayed there. Staffs were really nice and helpful. The place is not far from tourist attractions in the city. You can walk to the Taman Sari or the Palace of Yogyakarta within 20mins.

We arrived late at night, when there is no staff at the hostel but they have a really cool system that feels like you are playing treasure hunt, which was adorable. Read the card in your room as it provides great information related to the town and food options. We tried 5 restaurant options in the list and all were amazing. Fitra, one of the staff, was just a great p...

The staff at this homestay were simply incredible. Some of the kindest I met in Indonesia! Very helpful for anything! Knowledgeable about the city. Had good deals for Borobudur and Prambanan tour. The place is very artistic with nice paintings and wood carvings. There even was a fish pond that would eat your feet's dead skin. Breakfast was simple but still enjoyable. S...

Positive: - Lokasinya deket pusat kota Yogyakarta - Harga yang murah dengan fasilitas memadai - Cocok untuk anak-anak dengan nuansa rumah keluarga - Dekat pasar dan pusat jajanan (Pasar Lempuyangan) - Ada air gallon yang stand by - Friendly staf Kekurangan : - Parkiran mobil agak sempit - Bau septictank tercium ketika WC digunakan - Alat mandi, air mineral dan makan t...

They staff are very nice though they have little English but they understand you and helpful. I was constantly ripped off around the town but they offered to be with me with i need to go out and they do help to get it on local price. If i will go back, i will still book at this hostel

Via Via is a place where you can feel at home while knowing that you are supporting the local community. The place is basic, but there are small details that make it unique. The staff is extremely helpful and organized, and the place is clean and peaceful even though it is located in a busy street in Yogya. The activities they organize are a wonderful and easy way to e...

Area: Less than a hundred meters from the homestay, this property sits on a wonderful local area full of cheap warungs and vibrant small coffee shops, with convenience stores, a pharmacy, and a supermarket nearby, and a modern mall 10mins away. Really local. Homestay: Fairly large rooms for the price paid. The rooms have good working AC, wonderful water pressure wi...

lokasi deket bgt sm taman sari, alun alun kidul kalo pake sepeda mtr ya ga jalan kaki , menurut aku worth it bgt dr segi harga sm yg apa aku dapat. dan dideket penginapan ini keluar dikit belom kiri ada angkringan murah enak drpd di maliobor ya hehe

I had hectic tour schedule and only two days to cover Yogyakarta. Chose Cabin Hotel near the Malioboro street, and this cabin hotel was close to Malioboro Mall. To Sum it up the stay was good, and I was able to cover ...

It was nice staying 4 nights at Sahid Hotel Yogyakarta. The location is good as it is integrated with Yogya City Walk Mall Babarsari and close to Atma Jaya University, UPN and also to Prambanan Temple or road to Solo and Magelang. Platinum Adisucipto Yogyakarta Hotel is the best and nearest hotel transit to Airport. It is just a walk distance with the best facilities such as free drop off from and to Airport, swimming pool, gym for fitness, cafe and bakery, etc. It is really recommended hotel even for long staying in Yogyakarta.

This Hotel have the best location of all, its so near with downtown Yogyakarta and the famous "Malioboro Road", This Hotel have shuttle bus to travel almost anywhere in Yogyakarta. It's a very Clean Hotel and Comfotable to stay, The Staffs are very welcome and kind to us. Overall this is a great place to stay.

Novotel Yogyakarta Hotel was nice enough for me to stay....It's located in near center of Yogyakarta so I could go anywhere easily.. The atmosphere was good enough so I felt comfort during my stay over there. But a lil pity such as limitation on TV channels (mostly local TV channel)and uncoveraged Wi-Fi signal area on my room (at 7th floor) made me a lil bit disappoi...

The hotel room was clean, but my family got dissapointed by the hotel staff's services. My family came after driving almost 8hr from Tasikmalaya to Yogyakarta that made them tired. But the hotel staffs processed the room slowly, so they had to wait 30-45minute until they got the room.. But overall because it's 3* hotel, it quite good..

Overall, this hotel is a nice place to stay when you're in Yogyakarta. The staff are friendly and helpful. Check-in process was very fast and less than 2 minutes we got the rooms. However, the room is not too big, but it is okay if without children. Foods are nice and they also serve 'nasi gudeg', the local delicacies every morning and jamu drink. Free shuttle every mo...

We initially booked this hotel for 2 days, coz we thought we might want to move and experience another hotel. It turned out this hotel is great, so we booked the hotel for the rest of our stay in Yogyakarta. Mostly this hotel is booked by the local Indonesian, I rarely see the foreigner in this hotel. The Grand Dafam Merapi Merbabu Yogyakarta Hotel is nicely located in the center of Yogyakarta, placing it somewhere between the airport and the famous Malioboro street. It took me 10 minutes to walk to Malioboro (the main street of Yogyakarta) The bathroom is clean but the hairdryer was hooked at location difficult to use (above water tank of closet). We took a bit of a stab in the dark with staying in Yogyakarta as no one we knew had been there or knew about any of the sights. Choosing this house by looking at the photos and only pay $50 for 2 nights, we didn’t expect anything. However when we check in, all is unexpected. The house is awesome with very complete facilities. It looks much better than the photos, the photographer should upload better photos LOL. Definitely will come back again when we go back here.

Real reviews for hotels
Lots of sites to see in the city and the general area. It is an inexpensive place to take a holiday, it wasn't very busy when we were there.
Most restaurants that hostels recommend serve international food, and therefore cost more than other stalls that serves just local food, but they usually look cleaner.
Compare to Jakarta it is a real pleasure to stay in Yogyakarta. More clean, less polluted, more affordable and nice people! :)
This place is a great city for culture. The city center offers a chilled out Indonesian city. There are plenty of cultural attractions to fill up 2 full days.
Yogyakarta is a unique and interesting place. The close proximity of both Borobodur and Prambanan make this a must see for anyone interested in culture/history.
Yogyakarta is one of the beautiful place, we can get flavor of essentials for a tourist. Good hotels, transport facility.
Yogyakarta is a city of strong java tradition, where polite people greet you with their smile and bow.
A great city to experience sightseeing, shopping and relaxation. Mirota Batik has a wide variety of cheap batik, souvenirs and handy crafts.
Yogyakarta is the centre of Javanese culture. It is interesting to discover about their unique culture in some specific sightseeing spots and by the city structure itself.
Yogyakarta is a city full of history, very good for education trip for kids or general interest over the javanese culture.
We don't care much for the city center which is too crowded. But other attractions outside of Yogyakarta (for us during this trip, Borobudur and Mt Merapi) are highly recommended.
Yogyakarta is one of Indonesia's city full with culture and history, such as Borobodur, Prambanan and Kraton (Palace).
Do Prambanan before Borobudur, and try not to compare the two. They're both beautiful and full of history, but in very different ways.
Superb city with a lots of historic places. Wonderful people with great shopping place with very cheap prices.
You can not find the place like Yogyakarta. It's the best place for education, traveling, and relaxing.
If you are looking for budget travel with cheap food, this is the place to go. Be prepared to be amaze by the charming people of Jogja.
The city is nice but the traffic are bit crowd. There so many careless motorbike user, you must be patient on their behavior.
Visiting Candi Borobudur and Candi Prambanan are the two only reasons why I need to stay in Yogyakarta.
A must place to go when you visit Yogyakarta, Candi Borobudur, Candi Prambanan, Istana Keraton, Malioboro, Goa Pindul
Yogyakarta is a very pleasant city. Quite large but with the feel of a collection of villages. It is safe but for the tourist touts (Easy to get rid of) Plenty of attractions around (sea, mountains, volcanoes, monuments, batik, dancing.
Love the night life especially when I come to weekend night could view many teenagers hang out by the roadside with the activities.
