Where to stay in Monteverde
Monteverde hotels & accommodations
We had a great stay at Rainbow Valley Lodge. We had an amazing view, very clean room, and complete kitchen. The owner is very hands on and really takes time to take care of the guests. All our tours and transfer reservations are done by him. We had an issue with a faucet leak, but was easily taken care of. The location is not in downtown but is just 15min walk. ...
Esteban and the cleaning woman were both very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and began at 6:30 for those wanting to hike early. The room was small but certainly adequate.
We stayed at Hostel Cattleya for 2 nights and it was great. Jonathan was very helpful and provided loads of suggestions of things to do and a very detailed map of the area. He helped us book our tours and onward transport too. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The kitchen has recently been renovated and it is amazing! I would definitely recommend that you s...
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great location, nice typical Costa Rican breakfast, and after a long rainy days/ nights in the forest, a much needed hot shower. And a bonus you can drink the water!
Nice large room but walls were thin - you can clearly hear you neighbours. Smell of sewage in bathroom was really strong. Breakfast was average - hot food was actually cold. Staff particularly unfriendly, especially in restaurant. I'd recommend eating out where possible.
This hotel was really great for our trip to Monteverde. It's centered next to a lot of shops and restaurants and offers transport to and from activities in the area.
We really enjoyed our stay at Casas Del Toro!
The host is super friendly, super helpful, and greets you with a great smile. Place is clean, breakfast (included) is delicious, and the location is 2 min walk from downtown Santa Elena. Loved it.
My complaints are: Kitchen fumes/smell in my room every morning.. bad advice/help about transfer out from monteverde.. i relied on them to get me a shuttle to san jose, and wound up having to take the bus because their shuttle needed more than 1 person to run, whereas i could have gone with interbus... but they were fully booked once i found out Sloth couldn't delive...
We had a standard cabana. It was clean and comfortable. I loved the gas stove, suprisingly powerful for its size. Unfortunately due to guests taking advantage of the vegetable garden, you'd have to pay for the harvested vegetables. It was still worth the price, the cost was nominal. Eating freshly picked veggies for salads was such a treat!
Place; pros and cons. 10min walk to the main forests ( curi cancha & children's eternal forest) so you don't have to pay extra for the transportation to join the forest tour but 3km away from Santa Elena town where you can find shops, supermarket, restaurantes and the only bus terminal. Taxi cost is about 3$. The slope from the main road to the house is very steep....
Confortable rooms with good food and location.
This Place was hard to Locate near Santa Elena.
This is a gorgeous setting in the middle of the rain forest and very close to town. However, there is no place to sit outside and enjoy this perfect setting. No chairs, no glasses in the room, no amenities. The facility is missing a great opportunity to make it a very popular destination.
We spent there 3 nights during Christmas - very busy time. The guy on the reception answered all our question and booked all the activities before we arrived to make sure that we got places during busy time. The room is clean, hor watter. Very close to the time. Kitchnen with all the equipment and drinking watter. Games 😀
A bit away from the (very touristic ) center that what we looked in Monteverde! Beautiful surrounding We have seen bird 30mt from the house ! There is tucan there. 100% recommended
Awesome little villas set in the jungle, quiet but still convenient location (maybe a five minute walk to downtown), and the most helpful, sweet people running the place. They took time to help me plan out my stay, made me a super late breakfast when an early morning birdwatching tour ran late, and were always gracious and full of useful information whenever I had a qu...
Great value
I love that this place has nice warm shower and room. I stayed at Monteverde Inn and love the location and the property but I couldn’t take shower because it’s too cold ( the windows wasn’t insulated and wind came in) and the water pressure wasn’t good enough. Tropico makes my trip with young child is very comfortable and cozy. I would like to stay there again.
I was greeted and was anxious to go on a tour as soon as I arrived. They helped call and I was able to get a tour booked immediately. I was even helped on booking a tour for the next day. They even called and confirmed pick up times for me too. After, I was shown my room which was very clean and cozy. The staff was a family and they all were so nice and...
