We spent 4 nights at Misty Hills Resort and we absolutely loved it! The service was amazing and went beyond all of our expectations. Manoj in particular was fantastic and couldn't do enough to help us. Our bedroom was lovely - clean, comfortable and with a 4 poster bed. The wifi initially wasn't working in our room & Manoj did everything he could to ensure this was fixed...the wifi was great - we could even stream videos on our laptop :) After 2 nights, the manager kindly upgraded us to one of the larger rooms on the top floor, where the views were even better! Any issues we had were instantly resolved, the management and Manoj really couldn't do enough to help us - they organised tuk-tuks for us into Ella each evening and the manager event went to the train station to buy our train tickets for us at 6am! The service was outstanding and really made our experience. The location is great, it is a 2 minute tuk-tuk ride into the centre of Ella but it is definitely worth getting a tuk-tuk after dark. Being a little bit out of the centre worked really well for us and meant that we had fantastic views of Ella Rock and Little Adams Peak. I really would recommend this hotel to anyone; having spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka, this hotel was undoubtedly our favourite! PS. they do the BEST pancakes for breakfast.

Hotel OnRock was at the more expensive end of my accommodation selection in Sri Lanka, but I was not disappointed. I needed to use the business facilities during my stay, and no request was too difficult for the brother and sister team who manage the hotel. My laundry was done in less that 24 hours. The room was clean, had a very comfortable bed, private bathroom with hot water, a lockable closet, and a wonderful view of Ella's Rock, Ella's Gap, and Little Adam's Peak. Breakfast was the best I had in Sri Lanka, with fresh fruit, fresh juice, string hoppers, and your choice of coffee or tea. I also had a delicious diinner with the aforementioned view. I definitely recommend Hotel OnRock, and thank the staff for their help.

Stayed 3 nights at Zion View and would definitely recommend it to anyone spending a few days in Ella. Most rooms have gorgeous verdant views of the nearby Ella Rock perfect for an afternoon in the hammock. The views do come with having to climb up a fairly steep slope from the town to the guesthouse but it’s well worth it and only a short 5-10 min walk to get to town anyway. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and staff are very warm, helpful and friendly. Rooms also come with several multi-charging points, great for those with a multitude of devices. Laundry is done in one morning. Staff were very friendly and accommodating, they prepared packed breakfast at 4am on checked out day.

After tiring journey from Kandy I was warmly welcomed & shown a lovely room by the pool. Breakfast & dinner was served outside on a private table. One of the key reasons to visit Ella is to see the Ella Gap & rock. The View Hotel is perched on the hillside above Ella Town & has a magnificent view of the Ella Gap. Getting up to see the sunrise has been one of the highlights of my trip to Ella. I was very comfortable in my room. Ella Town was a pleasant walk down hill and a 200 ruppee ride back. The manager could not have been more helpful! Swimming in the pool on my own looking at the Ella Rock was also a wonderful moment on my journey around Sri Lanka!!!

had a great stay at Ella gap hotel we chose to hire a motor scooter for 3 days to cover our stay got lost a few time but saw the most amazing scenes this was the high light off our trip waterfalls breath taking scenery, we were going to Liptons seat & took to wrong turn the local doctor stopped put us on the right road, then we took the train from Ella to Colombo in the observation car it was amazing would recommend Ella & Ella gap hotel

This is a very new hotel, and they are only just getting the staff settled in. It is convienient to Ella train station, but due to the steep hill, I wouldn't recommend walking. The view is stunning, and looks across at a local waterfall from a number of rooms. There were no menus, and no prices for either the food or bar service, but we were very pleasantly surprised when we got the bill. Cheap good quality local Sri Lankan curry, and very good price beers. There is no air conditioning, but at this location high in the mountains, it was a very pleasant temperature. Wifi was only free in the lobby, but it's not a bad place to go and sit while you catch up on your inter-webs.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Ella Planters. You'll need transport to get there but is well worth it when you do. Our bungalow ("blue") was lovely, well designed with a very large, beautifully-styled, modern bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of continental/Sri Lankan food. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had only wished we could've stayed longer.

The hosts/owners were so friendly and helpful. They made our stay and our experience of Sri Lanka very special. The resort is walking distance from both the 9-arch bridge and Little Adam's Peak. It's a 1km nice walk or a tuk tuk ride into Ella. A very natual and generally peaceful place (just some traffic noise). Surrounded by trees and we even saw small and large squirrels, wild hens and wild deer at the resort. Lovely food. The hosts even took some time to teach us some Sri Lankan cooking. Highly recommended for people who like walking and nature, and want a more personal experience of Sri Lanka.

Its our first visit to Ella Flower Garden Resort with our family we had 03 rooms reserved with them for two nights. We had a great welcome and rooms were given on time without any delay. Very clean and spacious rooms. The B/B option were very famous in Ella due to number of restaurant situated in Ella town plenty of places to dine out and good night life as well. Amazing place great weather. Ella Flower garden got its own restaurant with good selection of food for all requirements. Good menu and its not very expensive as well. We had food from the restaurant and its very good. Breakfast served were fantastic and had good vegetarian options as well. Ella flower garden got some amazing flower collection and fantastic view of the Ella rock and its amazing surrounding even from the rooms its stunning. A very big thank you to Kosala Resort Manager and his entire extremely friendly wonderful staff member' : Sasi , Adikari, Dilan entire full staff team names are not mention. thank you.

I had a fantastic time at Ella's Edge Resort. I was traveling alone and the staff did all they could to make sure I was comfortable. Everyone was extremely nice and the food was amazing. The cook at the hotel is named Amarawonsc and he makes an excellent curry that changes each day. The kitchen is out in the open and you can peer over the edge and watch to see how they prepare it. One night Amarawonsc invited me down to the kitchen and gave me a lesson on curry cooking! He also makes a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast which was yummy. This hotel is about a 6-8 walk into the center of town. I like that its not in the heart of things so you can have the stunning views in peace and quiet and if you want to go out you're only a walk or a cheap tuktuk ride away. Out of all the hotels I stayed at in Sri Lanka this was the best value for what I paid. Please note that it is considered a 4-star hotel for Sri Lankan standards but it would not be a 4 star for western standards. The room was basic but clean and the view from my bed was incredible. The staff told me that the hotel was built about a year and a half ago which explains why everything seemed nice and new in the room. Thanks again, I will be back!

Perfect place to stay! Don’t stay in Ella town, it’s noisy, busy and views are poor. This hotel is up the hill so it has incredible views from every room and from the restaurant- the pictures really don’t do it justice. The best view we’ve ever woken up to! Plus, it’s only 5mins in a tuk tuk into town for dinner (approx 300lkr) Nothing is too much trouble for the staff- they helped us organise cooking lessons, moped rental and an amazing surprise birthday party for our friend. We were going to stay at 98 Acres but it was sold out- we still visited for a drink and thought Serenites views were even better but for a far more reasonable price. I will recommend to any friends and family visiting Ella. Thank you so much Serenite Ella.

Ella Nature view was for me the best hotel experience in Sri Lanka. I highly recommend this place! The rooms are big and very clean and every room has a balcony with view on the valley that's absolutely stunning!!! I first stayed for one night but immediately extended my stay to 5 nights because I fell in love with the view and the place. From all balconies you have a great view on Ella Rock, Ella gap and little adam's peak (too bad I cannot upload any pictures from my stay). The rooms are big and very clean (spotless bathrooms) and the staff is super friendly :). The breakfast that's included I s also very good: delicious coffee and a lot of fresh fruits. I stayed in Ella because I had a wounded leg after a motorbike accident. I cannot imagine a better place to stay and chill out for several days. Thank you so much Ella Nature view!

The resort is well placed for a chilled out break set within a Tea Plantation and lovely views, an interesting 15 minute walk into main street Ella (Tuk Tuk available for around 300 SLR). The staff are helpful and diligent and a special mention to the owner Rowan who far exceeded any service level to date, he runs the resort with passion and is genuinely a 'nice guy'. He went above and beyond to organise a cake and meal for my wife's birthday and although he had to do a lot of running around (I found out later that he took various trips to get what I needed) he did so without mentioning and did not include his time or cost in the final bill. Rowan is now expanding his business and we wish him every success for the future. As a final mention the food was some of the best we have had in Sri Lanka, tasty and consistent.

We had a pleasant stay in room N7 (specifically prebooked, because it has the best view on the mountains). The room was with fan only, but it was not hot at night at all, so it was alright. The breakfast was very tasty, with well done toasts, fruit plat, eggs and huge pot of tea. The only negative feedback is that our driver didn't get the room in the hotel, even so it is a common policy on sri lanka and had to find a place to sleep somewhere else.

Very easy to get to from the station - turn left when leaving, walk down the hill, take a left and walk about 300m with a right at the police station. It's only a 10min walk to Ella main street, but you feel like you're in the forest in the evening, which is great. Three room homestay, with friendly host. Nice veranda at front for breakfast and sitting out. There's also a lounge area inside. Our host made pots of tea for us each afternoon. Breakfast is Sri Lankan and western. Lots of fruit to start. Good WiFi. The weather was very wet and overcast during our stay and shower was lukewarm - not sure if related. The host's son gave us a reasonably priced ride in his van when we left.

We travelled from Kandy to Ella BT train which is a 6 hour journey through some very pretty terrain. We spent two wonderful nights in this hotel and were so glad that we did as the rooms have huge comfortable beds and nice soft towels. The views from all room are fantastic and each room has a balcony area to sit on and admire the mountains and beautiful gardens. Delicious breakfasts of fruit, banana pancakes and omelettes were served on the patio area. The delightful owner is a remarkable, well travelled and connected man who is keen to give advice on visits and treks and was so keen to ensure that every aspect of our visit was perfect. We had the most AMAZING Thai meal in the evening (as the owner is married to a Thai lady). Everything was laid out perfectly with such lovely restful music. Felt like eating at a friend's house. We can honestly say that it was the best meal on all our travels and that has included many visits to Thailand. Most of the herbs are grown in the very well tended garden and our lovely cook showed us around her plants with such pride. She even gave us some seeds to plant when we get back to England. We couldn't attempt to climb Adams Peak but did visit the Neuberg green tea plantation and had a good tour there. Ella town was a little overstated with very many backpacker hostels so it was great that we could retreat to our hotel at the edge of the town. We also ate a great vegetable kutcha roti in Ella from the awfully named Fish and Chips restaurant. You can see them cook it all freshly in front of you. So delicious, we went back for another for lunch.

The property seems ok at first glance, but it was impossible to sleep. The sheets are dirty and extremely damp. Ella is cold when we stayed here in early December, but the sheets were so damp it was impossible to sleep. We ended up putting on all of the clothes we had and slept on top of the very thin blanket they provided. It also didn’t help that the sheets were dirty and we found bugs on top of the bed on 2 different Occasions. We would not recommend this place to anybody as it wasn’t cheap at all for Sri Lanka.

Absolutely loved our stay here for three nights which was perfect amount of time in Ella. After reading other reviews We booked the double room with mountain view which is at the front right of property. Definitely the best room as it is has both best privacy and best views. Most others have good views also except maybe the two nearest the road. Location is great, far enough out of town to be away from noise but only 5 mins to walk in or a few minutes by tuk tuk. Breakfast was simple eggs and toast and fruit but plentiful and enjoyable. Staff very helpful although bring your own water and snacks as there is nothing in reception or closer than town. Would definitely stay here again. Recommend walking up little Adams peak it's only 30 mins each way and beautiful views.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcomed. Nandana, the manager greeted us & took us to our room & made sure we had what we needed. We were enchanted by the amazing view of Ella from our room! Wow, spectacular view! The room was large, clean, & comfortable. It had a sitting area & balcony with chairs to sit & enjoy the view. Needless to say, we slept well. The following morning, we enjoyed our fruit smoothie, coffee, tea, a plate of fresh fruit, toast with butter & jam, and our omelettes. Nandana kindly showed us photos of some of the sight to visit in Ella & fully answered all our questions. When it was time for us to leave Ella, Nandana arranged a driver for us at a discounted price. We highly recommend Hotel Alta Vista & hope to return again! Thank you Nandana for going above & beyond & making sure we were happy & comfortable!

We stayed here for one night in Feb and loved this property! The view from the whole place is just absolutely spectacular! Each of the rooms either has its own balcony or a courtyard to just sit and enjoy the view. The rooms and large and comfortable. The staff were great. There was a lovely hostess who greeted us and happily chatted away about Sri Lanka and the beautiful clothes that the women wear. The owner was also very friendly and came to chat to us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Ella the town is beautiful. Definitely do the little Adams peak walk and have lunch or dinner at the Ceylon Tea Factory Restaurant. Thanks for a great stay.

We visited Ella half way through our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka and Villa Eden Paradise was the perfect base for some early morning hiking in the hills and afternoon peaceful relaxing. The hosts are very friendly and prepare a great breakfast (we'd hike around around sunrise - little Adams peak, ella rock, 9 arch bridge and return around 10am for breamfast). The nice rooms, outdoor seating areas, and good WiFi allowed us a peaceful space to plan out the rest of our Sri Lankan trip. They had great recommendations for places to eat, do laundry for a small fee, and are always willing to have a chat/share some advice. Would definitely return if ever back in Ella. There's currently a little construction work happening, although not very disruptive, whilst they extend their range of rooms (but this seems to be happening everywhere in Sri Lanka).

We totally fell in love with this place the moment we stepped foot here. The views are incredible. The rooms are huge with balconies that overlook the tea plantations and mountains. It’s right next to the trail up to Little Adam’s Peak, which we did at sunrise. We also rented bikes from the resort and went cycling around the tea plantations and down to Nine Arches bridge. One of the most relaxing and beautiful resort we’ve been to.

We thought this is one of the best places we stayed at during our tour around Sri Lanka. The place is a bit difficult to get to (as it is uphill and a fair distance from the town center) but it is still walkable and the view more then makes up for it! Great clean facilities with fast wifi. Absolutely superb breakfast. The staff are also friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this place to anyone who might be looking for a more quiet place to stay in Ella!
