Chao Lao Beach hotels & places to stay

Four adults travelling together and the family units with two bedrooms and a lounge area was just perfect. Second visit to this hotel this year and it is good value for money and there are quite a lot of little attractions along the coastline if you like to get out and about. Chao Lao can be packed with tourist coaches on Thai holidays but otherwise I would describe it as empty, but those restaurants are obviously full at some point, so pick your dates if you like things on the quiet side.

The resort is located in the preferred area of Chao Lao and provides direct beach access. There are deluxe rooms in the main building as well as modern villas spread all over the place. The deluxe rooms are big and clean with balcony, shower cabin and tiled floor. There‘s a nice swimming pool next to the beach and some chairs provided with towels. Unfortunately, there‘s no shade around noon. The garden is impressive in size and decoration. Free wifi is available all over the area. Breakfast offered in the main building is very unequal. One day, there‘s a great buffet with lots of vegetarian choices. The other day, vegetarians are disadvantaged and if there‘s a shortage of customers, you can order either eggs or rice soup. But there are plenty of great restaurants in Chao Lao. No problem to skip breakfast. The open air restaurant at the beach is a nice place to relax in the evening. Prices are acceptable. So far my favorite accommodation in the area.

Great place in every aspect. Upon arrival we got upgraded to a bigger newer room due to some construction site noise that could have disturbed us in the cottage we had booked. It looked nice and clean, very cute, but we took the offered other quieter room other side of the yard. Room was brand new and the king size bed was the best we ever slept on! The stony yard looked nice and buildings were tasteful (unlike some in the area). We liked the breakfast which was served by the beach. Basic buffet with fresh fruit, toast yogurt and such, plus they cooked eggs and other warm dishes of your choice. They didn't have a restaurant in the evening, but we liked to try out different places anyway. Immsook was close to several restaurants, and especially the seafood at Chao Lao was great. Most people don't speak English there, but we managed just fine. Some of the staff members at the resort spoke good English which was helpful when we needed to get a taxi etc.

This Sri Phairin Resort on Hat Lam Sing is suited for mostly Thais or if you're traveling with a Thai person. We booked the connected room bungalow with a garden view which is about 100m walk to the beach. Not much of a view. The beds are too firm though. You could feel the spring underneath. Pools are ok. Children’s pool is about 85cm, adult pool up to 2.5m with no swimming restrictions. Downside= pool lights were not functioning at night due to renovations and rewiring. The rooms were ok for a family of 4 not too small. The Thai style bathroom was clean; all open area (no shower curtains). There are no closets or drawers to put your cloths in, just a towel rack. The Thai staffs were friendly. Two types of breakfast served= American (1 egg, ham, hotdogs, toast and coffee or Ovaltine for kids), or Thai rice soup choice of Pork or Shrimp. There's a seafood restaurant about 125m walk from the resort called "Krua Chom Talay" meaning Kitchen with a Sea View. The food is delicious and not too expensive. Room service is offered by this restaurant. The other downside is that on Hat Laem Sing, you really can swim at the beach. The water is too murky due to the currents and silts. You have to drive to Hat Chao Lao if you want to swim which is (8km) from the resort. Hat Chao Lao water is clearer with muddy-brown powdery sand. Overall the resort is a great quiet getaway from hectic Bangkok. Trip review- April 22-24 2015.

Its a beautiful modern resort on the Beach. Fast free wifi. I agree with one other review about Chao Lao Beach. We checked out all the resorts and we decided better to stay at Baan Faa Talay Chan and drive 5 minutes along the beach to Chao Lao Beach "Its much cleaner and quieter than the other resorts" The sound of the ocean is relaxing and the sea air is refreshing. There are 2 restaurants within walking distance. The Sea food restaurant next to the resort is nice and the other a grill house is very good. Khun King makes a mean steak there. We are going with friends during the next school holidays, maybe we will rent the big house if available. All in all an excellent experience and me and the Mrs loved it. The kids did not want to leave. Book early for an over the weekend stay. Good Value.

OK you don't get a sea view or beautiful garden staying here but for half the price of places that do you get a large clean bungalow with decent WiFi and good Aircon. They offer a free breakfast but it's not the best. The hotel is next to two decent seafood restaurants and within 5 minutes you can be on the beachfront walking towards the more touristy areas of Chao Lao beach (there is one short section where you have to wade where a small river enters into the bay). Note the hotel is at the far East of the bay so it is a pleasant half hour walk along the beach to the main restaurant area and another 15 minutes to the nicer Western parts of the beach.

Was a very nice place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was good. The setting of the resort is very nice - with soft music playing throughout the grounds. The hotel had a motorbike for rent - however did not have helmets available to use. It was advertised as having fishing available - but that was not on-site - it was evening squid fishing at another location about 4km away which cost 500 THB per person (which was worth it and fun to do). The beach was very nice - and ocean water was warmer than the beautiful pool water. Would stay there again.

We liked Villa Blanca Hotel very much. Hotel is new. Rooms are spacy and very clean. There is a pool on the territory that is clean and big enough to swim. Hotel garden is beautiful and well maintained. Nice road is leading to the sandy beach. Beach itself is clean and there are only few people walking on the beach. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Near the hotel at the road there are many eating places. Some of them are very cheap. 7Eleven is located opposite the hotel at the road. This is the hotel that can be reccomended for nice and quiet holiday.

The two ladies who run Charm could not have been more helpful to my pal and I. Nothing was to much trouble for them to make our three night stay memorable. The location and beachfront view were beautiful but you need a car or bike if you want to move around. We were happy to flop, relax and enjoy the view. It is generally a peaceful haven but livens up at the weekend when the city folk descend to enjoy themselves. The usual choice of good seafood, rice and noodle dishes abound. Would definitely return so thanks ladies for a great time.

Noch hotel near the beach (200m). The manager was extremely friendly and helpful. Very less people (except) weekend and therefore very relaxing and silent. Only the agressive dogs at the beach and on the streets were frightening but has nothing to do with the hotel. The only thing is: why do all the Thais believe that white toast and 2 eggs are a nice breakfast? Also instant coffee is no coffee! Everything was clean, a nice holiday at Chao Lao Beach.

Hard to find re signage , pool is ok for children but is smaller than what appears in photo . Staff tried to put us in a room other than the bungalow we booked but did finally fix after much request . The location re beach is on the wrong side of pier where the beach is not great and a lot of rubbish on sand . If you wish to swim at beach i would go other side of pier further up appears a bit cleaner . Breakfast is very average infact poor quality . Bungalow was ok bed was good room clean aircond very good . No resterant at resort althou many resterants close by . Couldnt supply ice for guest drinks . Pool was clean and surrounding tables were good . Overall was ok but next time i would try to book something a little better and closer to the cleaner side of beach .

I stayed 7 nights at Fabb Hotel and would have stayed longer if i could! 1. Daily cleaned and spacious room. 2. Air con/ tv/ towels/ mini fridge/private bathroom/free water. 3. 4min from the beach. 4. The owner is the friendliest person i met in Thailand, he showed me around, drove me to Chanthaburri when i needed to fix some stuff there, had great chats AND he is a professional and great Masseur! I had problems with my right knee for last years, no doctor could help me back in Germany but he did with his blessed hands during 15 painful minutes but definitely worth it! Thank you from my heart

We loved our little bungalow in Baan Pun Sook Resort, it was simple but nicely decorated, with a set of steps going down to our huge bathroom. Great amenities, loved the kettle in the room, but that you could also get free coffee and tea near reception at any time of the day. Great WiFi even in the bungalows. The restaurant in between the main resort and this resort serves decent, fairly priced food, comes with free salad bar. The staff are nice and the owners are super cool, definitely a bonus for our stay. The beach is literally across the other resort and is a nice 5 minute stroll - although sadly, Chao Lao beach is a little bit trashed, we had nice walks along the beach.

Stayed here for two nights as part of a tour round the Gulf of Thailand provinces. Chantaburi itself is very beautiful and Kodtalay is not out of place. The resort is right on the coast so you go to sleep, at most, 15 metres from the sea - very restful. Breakfast is in the open air, and is lovely to sit and listen to the sea while coming round. The room was very clean, but a bit on the small side. Was fine for my wife and I as we only stayed two nights, but it's something to consider if one has small children. Theres plenty to do locally, such as the HTMS Prasae monument or Laem Sing beach, but you do need your own transport. Would certainly stay there again if I visit Chantaburi.

The property is not directly on the Beach, but just a 1 min walk. Don t expect clean beaches, it s a typical Thai holiday destination. Lots of plastic on the beach, but the water was clear. The facility looks beautiful. Great garden around the pool! We stayed in a bedroom in the back with a super king bed and our son was sleeping on an extraa Matras ( no extra cost). Do ask for mosquitoe nets, they do have them! Great places around within 2 min walk to eat great food! Breakfast was ok, on weekends more to choose from. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful! We stayed 3 nights and might even come back on our return to Bangkok!

Always wants to come back to this place, many years goes by a bit has been changed from my first visit. The things has never change and I loves about it is the friendliness of the hotel manager and staff, feels like staying at my own beach house more than a hotel. The cleanliness of the beach is the most important and that keep me coming back every chance I have. Most and for all, the owner of this resort is one of the top celebrity in Thailand, he's the most friendly person I ever know, and always there to meet and greet his customers. This resort deserve more than 5 stars!

Facilities are basic, but with aircon. Thankfully no barking dogs of a nighttime which is often the case with cheaper 'resorts' in Thailand. Thai food can be brought at the family owned restaurant next door or buy fresh seafood from the local market and use the barbeque to cook. Alternatively go to one of the beachfront resorts, especially if you're seeking a Western breakfast. Some lovely local waterfalls with cool water, plus the great experience of being the only foreigner among the Thais. Good beaches nearby with clean sea and no rubbish. Would need to have a car / motorbike to get around. Owners very helpful.

Chao Khun Resort might not be the most perfect resort.. But for me and my partner, we got well looked after from the owner and staffs, really impressed.
