Small Tico-Studio outside of LaFortuna”
It turned out to be a much better choice to stay outside of La Fortuna and still in walking distance to the town (ca. 1km). But be aware that you have to walk along a road with heavy traffic, so only do it when needed. 3 minutes across the field (no need to walk along the street) you find a supermarket and restaurants. Just outside the studio you have Arénal right in front of you. The studio is equipped with everything you need for a few days and Olga is a lovely host. If you have a choice take no 2 as it has a bigger bed and the bathroom looks newer too. I did not have my own transportation and the host couldn’t really give me a lot of advice in how to get around; but I found out soon that there is uber which is much cheaper than a taxi.... also if you plan to go trekking near the volcano consider going to ARÉNAL 1968 as this hike through the lava rocks is much more interesting and you get to see so much more than in the official arénal reserve. Another tipp there is a hot spring river surrounded by forest all for free to use which basically you can do coming from your hike at the volcano

Cabina Arenal is a wonderful place. The rooms are very nice, well-equipped and clean, and the owner, Olga, is very friendly, and a delightful person. It is a little bit outside of downtown Fortuna, but it is right next to several very good restaurants. And it was much cheaper than any other place I looked at. I very highly recommend it

Good spot for the money”
Pros were: location was outside of town just down the road. Seemed safe and quiet. Had hot water but no ac. Cons: Shower drain was stinky and lots of roaches came from it at night, so I recommend stuffing a towel down the drain when not in use. We stayed 3 days. People were nice. Clean besides the roaches.

if you are looking for a very cute and calm place to stay, this is perfect! its lovely decorated, very clean and soooo welcoming! we got chocolate at the arriving <3 it is a bit outside though, but we didnt care, cause we cooked for orself and had a car.
