traveling on a budget and still hope to find a nice and clean place to stay? don’t search more. you got it right here!”

we only took the room for a couple of hours to rest after hiking Ijen. the owner was super nice and received us at 12am so we could leave our luggage and even assisted prior to our arrival to rent a scooter as we did the hike without tour. the place is simply but super clean and the bed very comfortable. it’s a authentic homestay which is nice. the owner also offers tours. we didn’t take one as we like to go on our own pace and are at a budget, but I’m sure they are great. In total - I was really surprised as we had stayed in homestays and hotels that are way more expensive, but didn’t offer this comfiness and cleanness. highly recommended!

If you're looking for the perfect place to start your adventure in Banyuwangi, then you can stop looking because you've found it! While staying at Fendy's home, he can take you to all the spots you wish to explore, like the Ijen crater to see the unique blue fire (Fendy has his own gasmasks.) and Sukamade (Turtle Beach). On turtle beach you'll be able to not only see how they take care of the baby turtles, but you'll also be able to release those who are ready to start their life. I cannot stress enough how magical this is. We even saw a turtle laying eggs! You'll be travelling through a monkey-filled jungle on the roof of Fendy's jeep (if you want) and sleep a night at the turtle hatchery. It is rather expensive, but like Fendy promised: It is so worth it. You will most likely not find this in any other place. During the ride from and to his home, we stopped at several places like plantations and the most beautiful, hidden sandy beach we've ever seen. We got to swim there for a few hours, next to a small waterfall for a natural aftershower, in total privacy. Yes, like in the movies! Banyuwangi is called the sunrise of Java, and has many sights and activities. Fendy can give you all the information and maybe even transportation to certain spots or pick up / drop off from the trainstation. (He was so kind to also bring us to the busstation and arrange our tickets to Bali.) We hope you enjoy your stay just like we did!

After three days we spent with Fendi, the kids cried for over two hours. They really did not want to leave Banyuwangi, to be exact, leaving Fendi and his family. Fendi's place is a real homestay. We had two rooms at his house and we used his kitchen and bathroom. We lived there like the real locals. Yes, it is as fancy as what we have in Europe, but it is the real experience. We also spent two days with Fendi in his jeep to the jungle. He showed us the rubber plantation, coconut raw sugar factory. He told us a lot about the community, the people and the culture here. We spent a night at the turtle conservation center where they protect the sea turtles. They are the true animal lovers and they really care about the nature. Fendi is a host family, a tour guide, an environmentalist, and also someone who cares about his society and his community. We have learned so much from him. This is an experience we will always remember for life. What an amazing person :) thank you, Fendi!
We wished we could have spent more time with Fendi and his family! One day!

great stay, definitely recommend”

Fendy is a really great guy, he picked us up from the train station and helped us plan the activities during our stay. We went to Ijen, snorkling, swimming with (small) sharks and on a safari tour! Unfortunately we didn’t have enough time otherwise we also would have visited the turtle beach. That was bad time management on our part. You’re staying in his own home and his family makes you feel very welcome. The first evening it was raining and while discussing our options for diner we ran into Fendy. He had to run an errand and could pickup some takeaway chicken satay on the way back for us. He really goes the extra mile to help you with anything, We would definitely stay here again!

Best value for money and homely place we have been too! Absolutely loved it! The host and his family where so friendly and really look after you.. If we hadn't have already booked stuff in Bali we would have stayed a lot longer. The breakfast was really nice and perfect after a night walking up Ijen. Host even took us out for dinner to a local restaurant where we had amazing food at super cheap cost. Could not recommend enough!
Like the other reviews say it can be hot in the rooms but the fan worked for us perfectly well! So no complaints here ❤️

Fendi was super helpful. Sorted out my ijen tour, took me to another hostel on his bike and helped me get the bus to bali even when i wasn't staying at his place. The place itself is nice and in a great location near the rice fields and chinese temple. A great place to meet people and good breakfast

Fendy is the owner with his family. We just want to thanks him a lot. It was so nice and we are very happy to meet people like him !! He always wants to help his guests in all the subjects. Furthermore he his a jungle lover, so you can learn a lot from him on this topic. We will come back one day for the jungle.

Fendy is an amazing person! he picked up us so late at night when there was no taxis… he also organise the tour to Ijen for us with a local guide ♥️. we had breakfast and shower after Ijen and he drop off on the bus and wait for us! amazing host, he really took care of us 🙂 I will definitely come back for the turtle experience.

The room was clean, comfortable and equipped with a ventilator. The bathroom was small, but clean and had a nice hot shower. You could also sit inside on a sofa or outside on some chairs with a table. In total the accommodation was clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast, which was included was tasty and enough. Fendy and his wife are funny and kind. The special thing about this place is that Fendy can show you many interesting places in and around Banyuwangi. The main attractions are his tours to Ijen and the Turtle Beach. The Tour to Ijen was well organized and only cost 250k per person. The tour was so cheap because there were a total of 6 persons going to Ijen. You can also do the tour to Turtle Beach. It’s quite an adeventure, in which we drove with a Jeep through a national park to the conservation department. You sleep there for one night and you can witness the process of a turtle laying eggs and you can even release baby turtles into the sea. It was a fascinating experience! We payed 3.150.000 Rp. for the trip. Fendy taught us so many different things about biology and culture.
Sometimes the room could get a little bit stuffy.

Superb”

We spent two nights at Fendy's house and it was perfect. The room was simple but clean, with a fan. The whole family warmly welcomed us and we felt at home. We had food from his wife's restaurant and it was delicious. Fendy organized everything we needed to be relax during our stay, from the buying of train ticket to Bromo, until the organization of our excursion to Ijen Fendy has a very good English and we enjoyed to have nice talk with him.
The room in tiny but ok. The location is not in the city center but for us it was very ok.
