The reason why I chose to stay at APA for the first time was not only because it is close to JR and Ikebukuro, but also because there is a supermarket nearby that operates until 10:30 PM! There are also various restaurants and many convenience stores nearby! The hotel also provides outdoor and indoor hot springs until 2 AM, which is great after a day of shopping. Although the room is not big, the price and quality are actually quite good, and it is enough for one person! The desk is spacious enough for makeup. The bed is also big and comfortable to sleep in!

Although not spacious, the room is very comfortable and slightly larger than the average Tokyo city accommodation. There is space under the bed to temporarily store luggage. The room is overall clean and tidy. Bottled water is only provided on the first day, but you can go to the ice machine on the 20th floor to refill (if you don't want to use the tap water for drinking). There are also vending machines and public baths for men and women, which are perfect for relaxing after a whole day of exploring Tokyo city. We sent our luggage to the hotel in advance when we were in Kawaguchiko, which saved us from carrying our luggage around. We appreciate the hotel for receiving our luggage. The laundry area is crowded, but we didn't have to wait too long. If someone doesn't come to pick up their laundry after washing, you can contact the service desk to help remove the unclaimed items. Each floor has a public area with a telephone and ironing board, which is very clever and worth emulating by all hotels. The hotel is very close to Otsuka subway station, about a two-minute walk away, and has good facilities. There is a LAWSON and a bakery on the way, so even if you didn't book breakfast, there are various products to choose from. The location is ideal. I could not stress this enough. Once you get out of the South exit of Otsuka station, you turn right, and you will see the hotel. Otsuka is the perfect location if you want to be close enough to the big cities for touristy things but also have a calm environment. You can walk to Ikebukuro (20-30 mins), or easily walk to the station to get on the Yamanote line to go wherever you wanna go. There are convenience stores nearby if you want a late snack too. Though some may want to stay in the cities they would like to roam around in, I found that these places were always way too busy and crowded. The staff were kind and check-in was pretty easy. They spoke English well. I would say the hotel room is perfect for a solo traveler. Of course, it isn't the biggest, but the bed was comfortable, and they provided great toiletries, yukatas, etc. Even if they don't make up your room every day, they will always give you refills such as new towels, yukatas, cups, coffee, tea, and sugar. I also appreciated that their TV would update how crowded the public bath was. I wasn't able to go, but I could see how much others enjoyed it since it would always be occupied. It may take some time to get used to a smaller room, but I promise you it has everything you need, and there is no need to worry. If I ever need a place to stay in Tokyo again, I would rebook at this hotel.

We booked 3 rooms: double and 2 single rooms. I requested that we be placed next to each other and they obliged. From the minute we arrived, we were greeted with smiling and welcoming faces. The lobby is pretty and unique, with chandeliers. Check-in was very easy, no issues at all. The rooms are small, however everything you need is there. There’s room under the bed to fit approx 2 suitcases and at the end of the bed, you can fit one more or 2 carry on cases. The bed was very comfortable, I love hard mattresses, so suited me very well. The bedding was great too however, the pillows could probably be changed to softer more plush pillows. They replaced towels and everything each day, as long as you put out the used ones. Bathroom utilities all worked well, great water pressure and was clean. Due to the room size, they had somewhere to place everything including nooks to hand backpacks and umbrellas. Breakfast options was better than other hotels I’ve booked in Japan. Lots of variety, enough to eat and get something in your belly before heading out for the day. Hotel facilities were really good. Onsen was very popular. They have one main onsen pool and 2 smaller hotter options. In the dry down area, they provide hair dryers plus face cleanser, skin lotions and milk lotions which was always really nice afterwards. Very secure, need a pass to get in. Washing machine facilities were always used mainly at night. The dryers weren’t as strong as they should be, meant a longer drying time. They have 4 machines and 4 dryers. 30min on machine and if you want your clothes dried sufficiently, you need to leave it in there for at least 1.5hrs. For a hotel of that size, they should have more machines/driers and if not more, than good strong industrial size ones to get through everyone’s washing in a more timely manner. Hotel is very close to the station and Lawsons plus plenty of other shops and restaurants. Such an epic location. It’s also a 5-10min Uber drive to Ikebukuro station where you can catch the Bus Limousine to or from Haneda airport. Our last day at the hotel 1 July 2024, we were up at 5am, leaving the hotel at 6am. There were two gentlemen on duty and when I asked to use their scales, one of them scowled at me and reluctantly let me use it. I also asked if they can help book 3 taxis to get us to Ikebukuro. The same two gentlemen just didn’t want to help and said there’s no taxis out early, but they’ll call and we’ll see if they come. I ended up booking an Uber van because of their uncertainty and reluctance to help. There were lots of taxis around on the app. The Uber arrived and of course, the 3 taxis arrived at the same time. They weren’t very happy we didn’t use them. Other than this, the service of every staff member was exceptional.

APA hotel is famous for its cozy room, good location and public bath, and does this hotel. The only complain is the 3 mins walk from JR was a gently slope and I was unfortunately to carry a super heavy lugguage when I was on the way The bed was incredable comfort that I falls into sleep in 5 mins, especailly for an insomina person like me. Breakfast was so so, but still ok to pay 2000 yen while there was no better choice nearby in the morning. Bath is good but quite small. Recommand not to go in peak hour like 10-11 pm. Washing machine room is always crowd. Actually there is an auto landuary nearby the hotel. If you live in the top floor, that is 20/F, good thing is where the public bath, vendoring machine, waching room are in this floor. Bad thing it also means you can easily heard lots of people talking and walking
