    “Basic Hotel with a downside”

I've stayed at a a bunch of Japan and Korean hotels and my share of APA chain hotels. For the most part, they are fine, basic hotel with the basic necessities. The staff is nice, the hotel itself has all the requires amenities and is clean. First the location. We specifically wanted to stay in Kabukicho by this courtyard because we wanted to be in the party town. We stayed at the Godzilla Gracery hotel before and loved the location. If you want a busy area with many 24hr establishments open then this area is the place. But if you want a quieter sleep, I suggest elsewhere. 10 min walk to Shinjuku Station (although it always seems longer because this specific area is very busy). The biggest shortcomings for this hotel was the room temperature control. The room itself is very tiny (but thats normal for Tokyo) and during the winter/spring it has no control of the AC unit unless you want to turn on the heater! We were here during March and the temperature on some of the days were sunny & 60F degrees and the hotel has some central heating system that doesn't allow you to kick on the AC. The windows dont open and so when you come out of the shower, the heat from the bathroom fills the room making the room into a heat sauna box with no option to cool. Some of the nights it was stuffy and we had no options to cool. We had to crack open our front door many of the days we were getting ready just to breathe. Ive never experienced that in any hotels ever. Every hotel uses the thermastat AC panel to control tempertaure. Even during the winters, we were able to adjust the room temperture to heat or cool according to our comfort. Also, this part isn't totally the hotels fault, but they do have an onsen on the top floor. However, no tattoos allows STILL but thats just because Japan still does not allow tattoos in onsen. Which is crazy because Korea doesn't care at all. If you got no tattoos, this is an added bonus. But you'd think because the hotel has mostly foreignors they would allow tattoo'd guest to use this service.

Thank you very much for staying at APA Hotel <Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower>. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the air conditioner, although you chose our hotel among many others. The air conditioning in our hotel is centrally controlled. During the winter season, the entire building is heated. Thank you for your understanding. Tattoo stickers are available at the front desk. If it is a small tattoo, you can put the sticker on and enter the hot spring.Thank you for your valuable feedback. Front Ito

    “Perfect for the solo traveler”

The room is small so as long as you have this expectation you won't be disappointed. It is extremely hard to open a large suitcase in the room. Place the luggage in between the bed and tv/wall. The room was kept clean and you have the option of having daily room cleaning. They do not provide a sheet so you sleep under the duvet cover/comforter. I looked at the buffet and I do not think it is worth $15. I think if you pay under $10 it may be worth it. Also remember that the price of the buffet is lower if you reserve the buffet in advance. They have a public bath. There is an outdoor area as well as an indoor bath. The locker room area could be kept cleaner. There was hair on the ground and this is the area where you are barefoot. They also don't provide towels at the bath so you have to remember to bring one up. Also rooms provide only ONE towel. This part makes you feel like the hotel is a little cheap on small items. But you can walk to the front desk and ask for an extra towel/exchange. The front desk is very helpful. Usually they have one person who speaks English well. They give you a free facial mask when you check in. The air condition in the room works very well. They have free video on demand in the room also. The tv screen will also tell you how busy they spa is at any given time. The immediate location is dirtier than the rest of Tokyo since it is located in Kabukicho. They have security so it feels safe. The Kabukicho tower is right next door so there is plenty of food to try. Also there is family mart and 7-11 just footsteps away so there won't be a time when you can't find something to eat. The walk is relatively close to the metro / JR shinjuku station.

Thank you very much for staying at APA Hotel 〈Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower〉. We clean the room once every three days to change the sheets, but other than that, we will only provide you with amenities unless you wish to receive them. If you wish, please let us know at the front desk and we will be able to clean your room. As for the public baths, you will need to bring your own towels from your room. Please feel free to ask the front desk for additional towels. Also, during the period you stayed, we were giving out free eye masks as a sampling. Sampling is distributed irregularly, so depending on when you check in, they may be giving something away. Thank you for taking time out of your precious time to post this information. We look forward to welcoming you again. Reception Kakino

“Great hotel in a great area”

As a solo traveler the hotel was a wonderful experience. The room was clean, housekeeping cleaned every 3 days. A fresh towel with pajamas and instant coffee/tea were provided daily. The staff did not have perfect English but they tried to be accommodating as best as they could. If you are a tourist, remember that you are a guest in Japan and don’t expect people to speak English – google translate is your friend. The room had many consumable amenities such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, a comb, a shaver, etc. The room was too small to open a suitcase completely without using the bed but it was totally fine for me. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning worked well and could be set as low at 18 °C. The TV supports casting. The area is the “red light district”. There was no time I felt unsafe. Lots of vomit and litter in the morning but it is cleaned up nicely by the city. There are many touts in the area but as long as you know how to say “no” they’re not very aggressive. I would say this hotel is a great value for the money. If you have children you should probably stay in a more family-friendly part of the city but overall it was a great experience. Check-in was mediated by a computer vending machine with staff assisting as needed, very easy. The checkout process was incredibly easy as well, you just place your card into a slot and leave. You don’t need to speak with staff. Overall, great experience and will visit again if I am in Japan.

“Outstanding Service – A Special Thanks to the Staff!”

My recent stay at this hotel, while already enjoyable, was made truly exceptional by the incredible support of the staff. About two weeks after my visit, I realized I had accidentally left a jacket behind. I went to the hotel with little hope, but to my absolute delight, the team was incredibly helpful and efficient. They located my jacket on the afternoon of June 1st. Also handled the process with such professionalism and speed. It's truly comforting to know that even after checking out, the hotel staff goes above and beyond to assist their guests. This level of dedication and customer care is rare and genuinely appreciated. It speaks volumes about the hotel's commitment to its guests. Thank you again to the amazing staff for your swift action and kindness! I highly recommend this hotel not just for its comfortable amenities, but for its truly outstanding team.

“Nice hotel with free public bath”

The hotel is nice and clean, featuring a free public bath that I used every day. Everything is very tidy and in traditional Japanese style. The room is quite small but well-equipped. Even the tiny bathroom includes a mini bathtub suitable for one person. It's ideal for those who prefer a private bath over the public one, as you need to be naked in the latter. The television is impressively large, around 55 inches, but it's very close to the bed, which might not be suitable for kids. The only downside is the limited space, making it difficult to open large suitcases. My boyfriend and I had to rearrange things to access our luggage. However, the hotel's location is very convenient, with numerous restaurants (like Matsuya and Ichiran) and convenience stores (Family Mart, Lawson) within a 3 to 10-minute walk. Near to train station, and super near to airport limousine bus dropoff and pickup point too! Given the price, you can't have everything perfect. I would consider staying at this hotel again if I return to Tokyo. 👍🏻
