This older, updated hotel is walking distance to all of city center Zurich. A friend stayed in another close 3 star hotel that was not nearly as nice. The garden behind the hotel with a lovely old fountain helps drown out the busy city noise and provides a tranquil respite from the hurried city life. The biggest negative is the internet situation. One can use a couple of older public computers in the lobby for no charge or pay high fees for wireless in their rooms. I am use to free WFI and faster speeds. Makes conducting business expensive.

I loved how they constantly sent email communications regarding my booking, any special request, and even after my check-out. It made me feel like they really value their guests. I also appreciated the little touches in the room, the amenities, and that they offered a bottle of water -- free of charge when I checked out. The location is great, which is right next to Bahnhofstrasse, but at the same time, it's on a low-traffic street. It's so easy to get there from the main train station. The staff are helpful albeit not too warm (but maybe that's just a cultural thing). Breakfast was good. I also appreciated the CHF 10 voucher, which I was able to use at their restaurant. My only comment is that there wasn't any toothbrush and toothpaste, which I thought was pretty standard even for cheap hotels. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay and would certainly choose this hotel again should I return to Zurich.

Best location ever right next to the river!!! Superb view n we r beyond speechless. Perfect for our honeymoon! The staffs were super top notch!! Friendly n helpful to our questions n needs!!! The room was so amazingly clean, NEW, aestheticly beautiful and the toilets too!!! So freaking perfect last stay in Zurich! Wished we stayed there longer!!! Will be back for sure! The Hotel is well situated for the business traveler, being near the center of activity. It is also well situated if you want to see/shop in the old part of Zurich and along the Bahnhof Strasse. There are a large number of restaurants to choose from in the vicinity and everything is a few minutes’ walk. I found the staff of the hotel very friendly and helpful. I arrived fairly early on my check in day (about 9 am), but every effort was made to have a room prepared for me as soon as possible and by 10:45 I was settled in. As I waited, the desk manager brought me coffee and I was able to do some work in the lobby sitting area I found the staff helpful in similar ways with advice, arranging cars and other services. Having said that, there was no formal concierge in the hotel, but I did not find a need for that. The hotel itself is quite basic. It could use some remodeling/redecorating of the lobby area; it is not set up in a way which is inviting to sit and chat for a long time with associates and friends, although I have seen people do that. The room I was in was relatively large, certainly by the standards one frequently finds in NY and London. It was bright with a modern bathroom. As one would expect in Switzerland, everything was immaculate and kept so throughout my stay, although the carpeting in my room for some reason looked like it could use replacement. It was not stained or worn, but somehow it did not look right. The room itself was furnished quite adequately, albeit not opulently. The room rate includes breakfast which was quite good. However, those who expect a buffet with 50 different choices and delicacies, this is not the place. As in much of Switzerland, I found internet usage costs to be very high relative to many other places I have traveled to. Stayed here for one night in September 2018. We checked out early and did not get a chance to try their breakfast. Pros: 1) The hotel is in the historic old town within 2 minutes walk from the Grossmunster and 5-7 min walk from the train station. You can get to all tourist spots on foot. 2) The font desk was courteous, helpful and spoke excellent English. 3) The place is very clean. 4) The tariff was ok considering the location. Cons: 1) The wifi did not work for us in the 8th floor. 2) The square was a bit noisy at night - but it was a Friday night. The bed was comfortable. 3) The room and bathroom were quite small.

this hotel is honestly one of the best ones that i have lived in. it is not huge; it is rather private and homey. located right in the heart of zurich, definitely within walking distance to both the famous shopping avenue and the train station. it is also across the street from the river where there are gorgeous white swans floating around. it has free wifi, and the bed is extremely soft. also, if you are looking forward to the zurich nightlife, two bars are exactly right next door to this hotel. but if you don't - don't worry, they are not scary nor are they noisy at night. i am a 19-year-old college freshman traveling alone when i chose to live in this hotel, and i could not find a better choice than this. notice, this hotel is not one of those super fancy and big-name hotels, for solo traveler like me, it is a perfect choice. also, the price might be a little too high for a college freshman, but zurich is a expensive city, so.

just about 5 mins walk from the zurich rail city, alexander guesthouse is right in the centre of zurich shopping district. we arrived in the early afternoon, and we were greeted with friendly staff, who upgraded our booking to a twin room within the hotel itself (instead of moving a street behind to the guesthouse). the room is cozy and very comfortable, toilet is clean and the room furnishings were great for an overnight stay. surrounding amenities were just superb, with restaurants and shops along the way.

I can not fault the staff service, every staff member offered consistent high level of service that I expected from a 5-star hotel. The location of this hotel made it perfect for walking day-tour of Zurich city. Short easy stroll to Lake Zurich and surrounds. For those who doesn't want to walk, one can easily catch tram to tour this wonderful city. Further, I was able to checkout of the hotel and get to airport within 30 minutes using the train. (Ask concierge to check train timetable prior to check-out. No need to leave too early.) I like the hotel for its location and old world charm, almost like Raffles Hotel Singapore (minus the ground). One down side is the cost of the room and lack of fitness amenity (such as in-house gym/swimming pool - guests get offered free pass to a local chained fitness centre).

We received an upgrade upon check-in as it was my birthday on the second day of our stay. Service was top notch, on the morning of my birthday, staff at the restaurant where breakfast was served each greeted me and conveyed their warm wishes. The manager of the hotel prepared a handwritten card, and this was given to me with a delicious cake as soon as we settled down at the breakfast table. Food was great. After breakfast, as we were leaving the hotel for sightseeing, staff at the lobby greeted ms and conveyed their birthday wishes as well. Needless to say, the level of attentiveness and warmth of the entire service team greatly impressed me. I have travelled widely and this ranks on the top in terms of service. Hotel was beautifully kept and very well maintained. Housekeeping staff took care of every tiny detail and did not cut corners. It is very evident that they take great pride in everything they do. Location is fantastic, steps away from Lindenhof where you can have a panoramic view of the Limmat riverside, very near Bahnhofstrasse, easy walking distance to old town. The buildings that make up the Widder Hotel have been lovingly maintained, they are full of character but well equipped with modern amenities. The hotel is a real oasis after a day of walking about. I will never stay anywhere else but at the Widder Hotel when I next visit Zurich.

Very clean, spacious room with free Internetaccess. Do not expect lots of extra comfort: it is a 2star hotel (small bathroom, no aircon,etc.)) But: very good price, compared to other hotels in Zurich. Bedding and towels clean and fresh every day. Friendly staff, everything worked as arranged, parking space was available as booked(very important in this area!)If you need silence it won´t be for you: it´ is located in the middle of Zurichs nighlife district. Lots of noise on the weekends though! On the other hands it is also close to the center (15 min. walk to Bahnhofstrasse, direct Busline to Kunsthaus, etc,). We stayed there for a weekend to explore the city. Knowing about the location of the hotel, i took my earplugs with me, closed the window and slept marvellous.......:))
