Closest reasonable hotel near BKK airport.
Hotel is near both BKK airport and one of airport link train stations, if you cannot afford airport transportation, I would like to suggest you to take the airport link to hotel as well as taking airport link to go into city center.

Disappointing Experience
I booked this hotel for the "FREE" airport shuttle and because it was close to the airport. When I arrived to BKK, they said it would take 15 minutes for the shuttle to pick me up. After waiting over an hour, I asked if they were coming and was very sternly told to step aside and they would arrive shortly. Finally they arrived and when I got to the hotel the staff was friendly and asked me about airport shuttle in the morning. I booked 7am. When I got to my room I was very disappointed. It did not look like the photos and everything was very old and felt dirty. It was not how I pictured my stay at all. The next morning, I tried to use the room phone to call someone to help me carry my bags. The phone didn't work. At 6:55 I opened my door and a man was there and helped me with a bag. They knew I was scheduled for 7am so thank goodness, and I think they sent him to help me. I followed behind him a few moments later and arrived to the lobby at 7:02am. The receptionist said "The shuttle left. You can wait for the next one or call taxi." I was so shocked and enraged. I didn't understand how they could leave without warning. I realize I was 2 minutes late, but I was confused how they could get my bags and leave without me, knowing I was coming. My whole purpose for staying in this overpriced hotel was for the free shuttle and it wound up being a nightmare. I waited for an hour and a half, exhausted and hot just to check into an old room and I wound up having to take a taxi anyway. It was not worth the money to me. I'm sure they are nice people but my experience was so disappointing. If they are so strict they will leave guests for being 2 min late, they need to emphasize being 15 minutes early and let people know they will be left behind if they are 1 minute late. I thought since they had my bags they wouldn't leave me and since most things in Thailand are time flexible, I didn't realize that 1-2 min is late. That seems extreme. Close to the airport
That's about the only plus of this place - the photos on the website must have been taken of another room! Run down, in a back alley but relatively near the airport and free shuttle to/from, just don't expect much when you get there.

Trouble free Transit to Airport
Ideal hotel for the transit passenger with staff always present at the airport. The journey is short and departures are on the hour 24 / 7 from the Hotel. Staff are keen to assist and make the whole experience hassle free.

It is ok for just 1 night. Beware of luggage boy!!!
Stayed 1 night before leaving Bankok. It was fine for just 1 night I slept well with nothing disturbing me. When leaving early next day the staff have made a small takeaway breakfast for me. But, they had no elevator and I was on the third floor so a boy knocked my door and offered to help me with my luggage. When my bags and myself was in the airport shuttle the boy was about to close the door he looked at me and did a gesture with his hands. I did not understand what he meant and the shuttle was full of people. He closed the door and knocked on the window and stared at me and made angry gestures again. He was really rude and the reason was of course that he did not get any tips for carrying my luggage. Because of this I will never come back to this hotell again!

Convience
For myself I was a transfer traveler. I had a difficult transfer from Bangkok. The Phoenix was exceptionally good at accommodating the transfer, between the service. transportation to and from the airport as well as timely wake up call service. Unlike some other hotels promoting the same service the Phoenix hotel actually provided the service. For a hotel that provides transfer service the Phoenix does an excellent job. For a tourist hotel look elsewhere.
